July/ August Availablity

Hi Everyone,

An unusual time of year for me to think of booking but due to a few conflicts with November (our usual travel time) am thinking of booking summer trip. I hate the heat, have been in August but it's Disney so I'll get over it. If flexible within those 2 months and looking for ** nights, is there any chance still of finding a 2 BR? I have a friend w/ *** kids whom who'd like to join us which would give us ** people total. We just have one teenage son.

If she decides not to come, are odds better of finding a 1BR or studio?

Not sure what last minute availability is like for the summer and not too much posted on the boards lately.

I assume you are a member looking to book on your points. If you are seeking rental, though, that is not allowed on the boards. Hence some details were removed from your post.

You will need to contact MS today, of course. You cannot estimate availability based on postings here. Things change very quickly, as you know. Good luck!

I would call member services as soon as you have an idea of dates and room size desired. Summer gets busier and the longer you wait, the more likely you might find that all the days you want are not available. Then you will be sweating out the wait list for the next couple months. I have had luck finding openings in August, but you need to be flexible on the resort desired and sometimes the room size too. I once was able to book one size and then later the wait list came through for the larger sized unit I had wanted. But of course there are no guarantees. Good luck.

Yes, my points, not looking to rent. If I keep borrowing may need to add more points. Called today and my friend cancelled so just 3 of us. Studio is now okay although I would prefer 1 BR. The only 1 BR available are at OKW or SSR.

Stayed in renovated unit at OKW last year and while nice, I really felt like the resort was too big and spread out, even though we were lucky and was in bldg across street. Had a very different vibe then when we stayed at BCV the year before.

Still looking for our fave resort, don't believe we have found just yet. Anyways, long story short plenty of studios available including Kidandi and Jambo. Our home resort is Kidani and have yet to stay there. Would prefer 1BR over studio but am thinking we take it and waitlist for the 1 BR. Always worth a shot. Studios w/ son just do not seem too luxury to me. Seems more like hotel room and reason we bought DVC was for the home experience and privacy.

Wish me luck - now time to convince hubby that yes - Disney can still be fun 4th year in row!

Last year when we added on a couple of days in a 1 bedroom mid august we had choice of resorts....so it can be hit or miss with summer dates. I think other times of years can be much more difficult (F&W, early december, etc).

Yes book the studio and waitlist for the 1 BR. Love Kidani.

Completely understand how you feel. We have 2 DS (4 and 21 mos) and it was wonderful to have the 1 BR on our first trip home last year. Now, we can't get anything other than OKW or SSR over 2 months (trying to be flexible). Thought about the studio or just looking at paying for a room at one of the resorts and paying cash - can't bring myself to do that and have us all on top of each other. But DH is insistent on no resorts where it is complete bus service to all of the parks.
