July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

No, they didn't tell me. It was a good stroke, if there is one. It was caused by a blood clot, not a breaking of a blood vessel. So, just try to get better is what I can do. Thanks for the well wishes, I can't wait to hear about Randi's and am sad we won't be joining you guys.

Man...it was cold and rainy here today. :umbrella: I can't wait to be relaxing on the beach with a margarita!!!

Karen...I did the Natural History Museum field trip with 2nd graders a few months ago...sounds like you had as much fun as I did! :rotfl:

Lori...glad you're home and resting. Get better each day! :goodvibes: We'll miss you for Randi's, but you have to do what's best for your health! You'll have a great time on the Sierra Madre Tour.

Kim :flower:

Lori-

We are glad you are home, sure you will better soon ! Don't worry about Randi's Horseback, you guys can do that on your 2006 cruise!

from the look's of the Cabo beach, we'd better not sleep in too late. Is there an email we can write to in hopes of getting a large party reservation -or- maybe there is a large space down the beach a bit (kind of like how there is plenty of room at Castaway Cay if you only walk to the end of the beach near the pier)?

It spit here in SD today, too. Guess we won't be cleaning out the garage this weekend. Whew :duck: narrowly avoided that one!

Scouter-Craig: sign us up for 4, s'il vous plait. (and my dad said high school french would never be useful :p )

Has anyone put in their dining requests yet? We've done both APL and LAP, so of course, the only one left is PLA. I don't want to wait much longer before calling in my request even though we still don't know when formal night is. What d'ya think? :listen:

Ooh, forgot something:
Got the shirts :cool1: They're a tad on the large side. Thankfully they are 100% (read: Cheri will shrink). I went back and ordered a teddy bear for Cassie to have in the room and 20 magnets for all of us. All you have to do is show up to the sail-away party (hopefully wearing your stylin' lime green shirts) and you can take one for your door.

Q for the Scouter-D though, how long will the stuff stay up on CafePress? If we get more than 20 families on the DIS, I'm gonna need more magnets.

Does someone want to step up and officially apply for the position of "DIS Board Cabo Beach Break Director"? Scouter-D can be exempt 'cuz he did a most excellent job on the t-shirts. Lori can be exempt 'cuz we want her focusing all her energy on getting well. I nominate Mike, if it's ok with Sara :earboy2: He's been far to quiet lately. Then again, my own DH has been a little silent as well :scratchin

While I am honored to be considered a "planner" I fear that I must beg off. The last "beach party" I helped with involved 3 branches of the U. S. armed forces and the natives were very put out by our arrival. Additionaly the bar we wish to use would be renderer unuseable after the off shore naval bombardment(collateral damage is the term in vouge). But hey I'm game... now where did I put my Pentagon phone book

We tried to go to DL today. I say try because unknown to us they were having a choir competition and we got there at 11am and there was already a three hour wait for fp for Cal. Screaming and the stand by line was 1 hour. We ate lunch, shopped and went home. Thank goodness we are ap. I guess I should have figured it was a bad sign when there were 14 large busses in the parking lot.

Then we came home and I had no cable. I had to fight with Adelphia from 1-9 pm. I am going to Best Buy on Wed and getting a dish. I am done! Three of the 4 customer service reps were rude and told me off. I love it!

Thanks for letting me vent.

The science museum must be the field trip of the week. My DS class went Tues. He liked the earthquake room.

Lori, get better every day. Thinking of you.

Lori

Lori go to radio shack instead of best buy for the Dish. The odds of some one at Radio Shack knowing any thing about Satallite tv is much higher. Also they tend to be more foused on customer service.

Just my opinion

iThanks for the well wishes. I wish I could say i'm better but I'm not. I was up all night with hot flashes, so I'm not sure if it's menopause, at 35 not another good thing, or if it's from being taken off my birth control pills, or the new drugs I'm taking. I'm going to call my GYN either later today or on Monday to discuss, probably wait untl Mon so hopefully it will pass. This is so difficult to deal with, I'm probably going to seek therapy, I can't do this all alone. I'm going to ask the neurologist for a psych conconsult, s maybe that will help.

Thanks for the info. I want some place that knows because I don't!

I emailed the Mango Deck and asked a few questions, so I'll let you know when I find out anything. Their menu looks very yummy and fairly reasonably priced. Guacomole was $4.50, to give you an idea (after I did the peso conversion math). As I was checking out the date, I realized that is our anniversary. It should work out fine, since the ship leaves at 3:30 PM on that day. After a day in the sun, a nice couples massage should be quite nice--then off to a nice dinner.

Wahoo!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: You started actual communication, that makes you the planner & I'm off the hook :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hmmmmm.... I hope the sixth fleet can cancel their exercise, otherwise we may have to take water taxis home.... pirate:

Thanks for taking the initiative and emailing them. I did a little investigating yesterday morning and found that right next door to the Mango Deck is a place called The Office. They look good too.

Here are a couple of links -
http://www.loscabosguide.com/theoffice/
http://www.theofficeonthebeach.com/

I think I saw somewhere in there that they take groups and there is a form on the website to make reservations.

Lori - hope you're having a better day! :flower: Let us know how you're doing.

Scouter-Dad - SusanB, who is on our cruise but isn't often on these boards, may want to order shirts. I told her to contact you so you may be hearing from her.

Sheila--I saw The Office, too. My only concern is the vendors. I was researching and found this post on cruise critic. We might want to look into the Melia. They also have a pool. Let me know what you all think.

For the afternoon we wanted to have lunch and drinks and maybe a swim at one of the resorts, catch some rays at the pool/beach, and several large resorts in Cabo welcome cruisers as free day guests, including the Finnisterra near the tender dock, and the Hacienda, Melia, and Pueblo Bonita around the harbor on Medano Beach. The beaches are public, and if you prefer you can throw a towel down on the sand anywhere. We chose the Melia San Lucas. This area is a $6 cab ride from downtown, or a 6 peso (60 cent) bus. We took the bus because we got talking to vacationers staying in Cabo who were going that way and suggested we come along, and we wanted to get some local flavor anyway. So we got on with them and used up some of our loose pesos, and had a little “bus route” tour through Cabo.

The Melia was lovely, beautiful grounds, a series of pools, and loungers at the pools and beach (http://www.solmelia.com/sol/hoteles/jsp/CHome.jsp?idSolRes=5833

They also have large rubberized mattresses on platforms with outdoor pillows that 6-8 people can lay on, both at the pools and the beach, but we preferred loungers (although Wendy said the mattresses would be great for tanning on your tummy, more comfy).

When we entered we went to the girl at the pool kiosk, identified ourselves as day use cruisers, tipped her $5 and requested towels and loungers. She quickly scooted off and came back with 2 big resort towels and offered us either of the only 2 mattress cabanas left. We said if we couldn’t find loungers at the beach we’d come back for one, but we found 2 under an umbrella, and ordered drinks and a nacho platter from the waiter for $14. It had lots of great cheese and spicy tomato/pepper sauce and guacamole on the side for scooping. Beautiful view, ship right in front of us, rocks of the Arch to the right. A rope keeps vendors out of the immediate area, but they patrol up and down. We did see one ceramic thing we wanted, and got if for half of the asking price, which is normal.

thanks for taking the lead with the beach party ladies :cool1:

Mike, sounds like your last beach landing was quite the experience. Hopefully these natives will welcome us with open arms instead of running for cover.

Karen - I read that thread a couple of weeks ago and actually decided at that time that the Melia is what we would do in Cabo. Then the group party came up and we decided it would be fun to hang out with everyone else. If we could do the group thing at the Melia, that would be great. While I was researching yesterday, I started to worry that the Mango Deck and The Office might have too much of a party atmosphere for the kids. I guess it depends on when you go. And I guess it could be that way anywhere in Cabo. I will just go along with what everyone else wants to do. :cool1:

Sheila--I agree with everything you said. If we don't like the Melia, we can always walk down the beach to the Mango Deck. What does everyone think? I have emailed the Melia and so far I haven't heard back from them or the Mango Deck. From what I've read, though, we can use their stuff for the day as long as we eat and drink. No problem there. I think the water taxi is a couple dollars each way.
