July 7, 2013 - 4 Night Bahamian Cruise - Disney Dream

Here are some pics of our family on the Magic in 2008.

My babies have grown up so much since then!
The pictures are delightful! It's great to see families enjoying themselves anywhere, but especially at Disney and a Disney cruise to boot! Your first picture reminds me that the Flying Dutchman is no longer a part of Castaway Cay. :guilty: My first cruise, it was there, but was removed shortly after so was not there last year when we visited CC. Ah, well, CC is still a marvelous stop even with the ghost ship. pirate:

From where in Louisiana do you hail? I grew up in East Texas and was actually born in New Orleans, so I have a special affinity for Louisiana.

Cheers!

We are currently in Lafayette, but originally from Morgan City. Our FE gifts should bring back a taste of home for you ;)

This is kind of funny, but I was stationed in Louisiana at Barksdale Air Force Base for a few years and my daughter was born in Shreveport, Louisiana!

We moved when she was just 1 year old, but I often times wonder about going back there just to show her where she was born before she grows up and it's too late!!

Very excited for the cruise! See ya guys very soon!

I went to college in Marshall, TX, which isn't far from Shreveport. And, in another note of coincidence, I'm retired AF, though I never was stationed at Barksdale. My last duty station was Alaska which is where my youngest daughter (now almost 13) was born; luv and I took her back there last year to show her all the places she doesn't remember. ;)

amyd219: I've never been to either city you mention, just returning to New Orleans a couple of times, the last of which was five years ago to attend my oldest daughter's wedding. I worked a few weeks for two summers in Lake Charles back in the day and have fond remembrances of stopping on the side of the road to buy fresh and cheap shrimp. People have not had great shrimp until they've had Gulf shrimp. . .just sayin'. :thumbsup2

My boys think we need to bring boudin for our FE gifts. I told them Disney probably wouldn't go for that. ;)

Boudin is great stuff! It was often served at cookouts in my neck of the woods, and my dad even tried his hand at making some a few times. I wouldn't think Disney would be too keen on a regional foodstuff appearing on board. :lmao:

**FE BUSINESS ITEM**
As of Friday (June 14), I suggest we close out any further additions to our FE group as I'm thinking we'll all be trying to finalize our goodies and our packing. I'll run the final listing this weekend. Everyone okay with that date? Thanks!

Lucky me received a special invitation last Wednesday to serve the district court as a jury member on July 9. After I wrote them a nice letter explaining where I was going and that Mickey could not possibly survive without me :) they called back today and excused me from serving. Whew!:thumbsup2

Whew, indeed! I've found that they will work a person most times. No need to cancel anything now. ;)

June 14th is fine for us. I'm getting so excited. I'm more excited this time than last because now I know just how fun it is. I feel like a kid at Christmas:cutie:

Us too! Second time will be awesome! I plan to do much more of the "grown up" activities this time. We had a scaredy cat last time who didn't want to go to the play group by himself since brother was in an older group. This year they'll both be in the preteen group, so it should be OK.:cheer2:

I've only seen responses from you and amy, but I'd say it's safe to assume that June 14 works for everyone else. My biggest concern is CBaylor ---> if you read this, we need your information in order to have some FE gifts for you. You haven't posted since your first one last week, so please let us know if you want to be included. Thanks!

14th is fine for me!!

So excited less than 2 weeks until I will be in the USA!!

See you all very soon.

We're excited to meet you, too, and for your trip to the States! :thumbsup2

So far, we've dodged the severe weather in our area, though the system won't completely pass for another few hours. Lots of wind and clouds, but no rain nor close lightning.

Here are a few more pics to whet everyone's appetite for the cruise:

Castaway Cay Adult Beach

A shot for those considering doing the parasailing. . .

Luv in Remy. There were other shots, but this is my favorite.

Love the colors of the water. . .

Oh, and getting ready for the sail away of the Dream on its three-night cruise. Let's see. . .not counting today, we all have only six more sail aways of the Dream until our own!pirate::cheer2:

So, is our FE group officially closed? If I counted correctly we have a total of 7 families with 14 adults and 6 children. Did I get it right? I'm wanting to get started on putting my packages together in the next week or so. 23 days left!!!!!!!!!::MinnieMo

I am assuming the list will now be closed as we all were in agreement on the 14th as being the last day.

I think we still had one last family that never provided the information for the exchange though.

Yes, our FE group is now officially closed. I actually counted 14 adults and 7 kids (vice 6), however. As for CBaylor, I can only assume either he/she wasn't serious about joining or was simply a forum troll wishing to add a little last minute excitement to our group. Regardless, I'm happy with our little group, and we're extremely excited about the impending cruise. We get married in 19 days and then the cruise in 21 days (see, you can't count either the day you're in nor the day of the actual event ;)), and our countdown chain is getting remarkably short. In the next couple of days or so, I'll summarize the final list, meet time, and meeting place. Until then, don't forget about the Port Canaveral webcam where you can watch sail aways of the *Dream (Thursdays and Sundays) and the Fantasy (Saturdays), both sailing out between 4:45 and 5:00 p.m.

*Only 3 more Sunday Dream sailings before ours!:cool1:

Days before our cruise: 16

Dream cruises before ours: 6

Sunday Dream cruises before ours: 2

Excitement factor: "To infinity and beyond!"

I don't know about all of you, but we're really gearing up here. We leave in a week to head south, spend a few days in Melbourne (Florida, not Australia ;)), then swing west to WDW to get married, then back east to get on board. We just added an additional day to our trip, securing a studio at Bay Lake Towers for the evening upon our return from the cruise. Hopefully, everyone else is getting excited and is as raring to go as we are!

Here are a few more pictures from our 2011 cruise. . .

Luv with that scalawag Cap'n Jack Sparrow

Castaway Cay faces

At sea day

Disembarking at Nassau. . .see how much plainer the Carnival ship looks compared to a DCL ship?

We are so ready!!! All I can think about is the count down to cruise day. We are really excited and ready to spend time enjoying ourselves on the ship, in our cabana, and eating great food!! Not to mention watching Lauren, 4 years old, have the time of her life meeting princesses and getting anything and everything that she wants for 4 straight days;)

Congrats on the wedding! A WDW wedding would be AMAZING!!!!!!!

See you all in 16 short days. We are finishing up our gifts. Hope everyone else is having success with theirs also. :cheer2:

My daughter and I can barely wait to get on the ship. We were fishing at Jetty Park, where the Port is located, and drove by the Dream when we were going home for the day and thought wow, what an enormous ship. She looked beautiful and majestic especially next to the Royal Caribbean ship and Carnival ship. The Royal Caribbean seemed ugly and box-like while the Carnival ship looked like it hadn't been cleaned for many years.

We are looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying the ship!!!!

See everyone soon enough!!!
