DH is heading to London tomorrow for work and is trying out our car service Eddie Manning for several trips. They came highly recommended by NancyIl, so I am sure they will be fine. He will report back to us though, lol.

I am not worrying about the volcano, too much stress, lol. John actually may have two trips to London prior to our cruise, so if he gets stuck he can just wait there for us, LOL!

Wish I could make the MA barbeque - I am a native Bostonian but have been transplanted to Chicago now. :)

Does anyone know if our ship is leaving Stolkholm at 1pm or 4:30? If you look on disneycruise.com is says "1pm or 4:30". I would appreciate any insight that anyone may have.

My notes say 4:30pm... but I'm not sure where I got that info. :confused3

I'm guessing 4:30 pm because I have a tour booked at that port and it ends at 1:30 pm. So, I'm assuming it would be 4:30 pm. I think, I remember another sail date having to leave early because of something (I just can't remember what??).

I had the same question, so I e-mailed DCL. Here is their reply...

Please let us know CarolAnn,
The Chancery quoted me 135 pounds for the 3 of us to go from the hotel to the airport. Seems like a lot....?....
So can't wait to hear what he says. Do you have a website for Eddie Manning?

We booked them from Heathrow to the Marriott County Hall.
Charge for the 4 of us with plenty of luggage was 70 pounds.

I ordered our Tower of London tickets online yesterday, saving 3 GBP (about $4.50). I got them for Saturday July 3rd but we can use them any of the days we are there, so if we don't get there Saturday that's ok.

I was going to pre-order our Big Bus tour tickets, too, because if you give them a specific day, you can get it for 10 GBP less, but then I thought that if it's raining the day we are planning to do the Bus, then that's a bummer. So I will hope to be able to find a coupon or get a deal at the hotel or something. But if not, no worries - we're still gonna do it.

I didn't want to get our London Eye tix yet either because of weather - but it's Nathan's #1 thing he wants to do so we'll probably try to do that Saturday and then if not, we still have Sunday and Monday.

Because we're doing all our excursions through DCL and our air/hotel/transfers are also through DCL, I feel like I don't have anything to do to get ready besides plan London's activities.

I'm putting stuff in the holding box today - so I'll have it when I'm ready to start putting it into the suitcase in another month. We're planning to pack in three suitcases but the DCL agent suggested we plan to at least take a fourth with us so we'll have room for whatever we want to bring home -- since we can each take a suitcase without extra charge, so that was a good idea.

Now to get the kids through a piano recital this weekend (Zachary) and the last two weeks of school :)

Happy Saturday everyone!

For 4 adults (with lots of luggage lol) here is our quote:

The total fares for a full size luxury passenger van are as follows:
1) Heathrow to London = 79 GB Pounds
2) London to Dover = 195 GB Pounds
3) Dover to Heathrow = 195 GB Pounds

This is a firm quote (not an estimate!) and includes *ALL* costs for airport parking/waiting, on airport pick-up. This rate is for cash to driver or advance credit card payment and all applicable charges/taxes are included. Gratuity is not included and the amount is at client discretion. This rate is per vehicle and not per person!

Thanks for the info...... I found the website last night and wrote them. They have no more available services for July 18th or 20th. Back the drawing board I go.....:surfweb:

If I were you the London Eye is one thing I would book in advance. It gets very busy, with long queues and they do close it occasionally for maintainence. We went on it a couple of years ago in January, so although it wasn't a clear day, (it rained, now there's a surprise) we still had a good view of London and the surrounding area.

guess we aren't getting upgraded. Room is 8596. solid veranda. sigh... had this on 7 day western. lot of plushes on room. but really prefer see through veranda. also prefer first rooms so smokers don't spoil your balcony. is what it is though.

We're using National Express coaches to get from Yorkshire down to Dover and back again and it's only costing us £90 return for the pair of us. Have you tried them for a quote? I know they drop off at Heathrow, not sure about Gatwick though.

just thought I'd share this here -

I had asked our private tour guide in Russia about paying for souveniers & they suggested paying in rubles & mentioned there are plenty of ATM's around to get them. Also if anyone is interested, I asked about fur hats (ds #1 wants one) & he said we should be able to find them on the shopping street (Nevsky?)

not toooo much longer - we're getting super excited:cool1:

a good reason to bump our thread??!!

We are 6 weeks away from sailing

(and we leave in 5 :yay: !!!)

I am using this as a good time to announce cut off time to join in
Fish Extender Exchaning Fun~~~~~~~ June 1st is the last day to sign up. :)

Does anyone in here have an opinion on the London Pass? The group I will be with is not the kind of group that plans ahead and knows what they want to see and do... A lot of play it by ear... Know that we definitely want to go to the Tower of London, Kensington Palace (since it's near our hotel), not likely going to hit up museums this trip at all (and I know they are free)... Any thoughts?

I am having a hard time focusing on work today. Not sure if it all the the anti-histamines or if I am getting itchy to start this vacation. I really need to firm up our touring plans for the ports. We are planning to tour on our own everywhere but St. P. In Warnermunde I have the Molli steam train booked, but can't decide whether or not to bag that and just explore on our own.
