Here it is! Our new site. http://pounds2rubles.wikidot.com/castaways

Three pages so far.

  1. Castaways
  2. Port Information
  3. Miscellaneous Information
On the "Castaways" Menu (which is the front page) you'll find:
  • Castaways Sorted A to Z (I have only listed people who OK'd me to list them on the last website. If you want your party to be added (and I hope you do), look at the info and send me a PM.
  • Cruise Meets & Activities (This area is kind of weak right now)
  • Pre-Cruise (Dover dinner list)
  • On-Board Meets and Activities (fish extender list)
  • Special Occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, etc celebrated on this cruise)
  • Cruise Want Ads - yes want ads! (looking for something? Ask here! Really we have two up so far.)
  • Burning Questions (questions that have been asked and answered on other threads that may help the group or questions specefic to our group)

On the "Port Information" Menu you'll find information I've started collecting from the boards and other places on all our stops (PM me links to the DIS (or other page info) of information you want added):

  • London/Dover
  • Olslo
  • Copenhagen
  • Warnemunde (Berlin)
  • Saint Petersburg
  • Helsinki
  • Stockholm

On the "Miscellaneous Information" Menu you'll find Just that. Stuff I've yet to catagorize into other pages that I think is prudent to keep (PM me links to the DIS (or other page info) of information you want added):

  • Maps and Driving Directions for Port of Dover
  • Dining Rotation and Entertainment Schedule
  • Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm
  • DCL Videos
  • Informative Blogs and Websites

Access all pages by clicking the "top menu" (in green on top). Please help me with this. It is our website for this cruise. I have thick skin and am wide open to constructive criticism and/or suggestions.

Here's hoping for a ton of PM's or I'll watch the posts here for the OK to add your party's info to our site.

In addition, anyone who is familar with wiki's and wants to help administer the site is more than welcome to do so.

Thanks
Jeff

Thanks Jeff!! I added the link to the DCL Northern European Capitals event on Facebook. I will PM you, as well Cindy, regarding the new families that have joined the Dover Dinner Meet on a weekly basis (probably Mondays) for updates to the pages.

site looks great!!!!

Denise... did you see that they have a ice bar tour in Copenhagen in Denmark too? It is on the DCL excursion list. Andrew was saying on another thread that they are adding/changing the excursions so, you have to check back to see what could be new or changed.

The ice bar in Copenhagen is very close to Tivoli-

I was looking online at the Stockholm one, tho- they open a bit earlier in the
day and permit reservations. Most importantly, they allow kids! It's something I know my kids will think is **cool** (:headache::jester:sorry, couldn't resist)

Jeff- thanks again for the website! What can I do to help??

Jeff the website looks great. Thanks for all your hard work.

The ice bar looks really cool. I just may have to add that to the list, but which one? More decisions to make.

Will do. So do you bring a fish gift for everyone doing fish extender everyday? It seems like it could take up a lot of luggage space on a 12 day cruise.

We will bring gifts for only once- and it will be one-per-family if we do what I think we're going to do. I think for a long cruise like this one and so many of us traveling quite the distance to sail, I'd suggest we set it up so that those who want to participate do so at whatever level they want - and not assign days or whatever - just drop off whenever you're able to do so. It's fun to have something in your FE each day, but we'll all be so busy that I'd hate to have someone feel like passing out their gifts becomes a chore. We found on our last DCL that we would drop off a few each time we went somewhere until we delivered them all -- if we were heading up and aft, we'd take what we needed for those cabins up and aft. If we were going fwd and down, we'd take those. I think the only time we had to make a special trip was for a couple of cabins down on Deck 1.

We are booked! (thank you DVC!!)

Dad, Mom, DS15, DD18 - flying in from NYC.

W00t! See you there!!

Brian

:welcome: aboard , Brian & family!

Glad to have you join....
We are using DVC points as well. (and frequent flyer miles to fly and hotel points for London :thumbsup2)

Welcome, Brian and family! Glad to have you with us!

Everyone, please check the first post to see if I have your username / cabin nbr if you have an assignment. If you have any changes, please PM me and I'll get it updated.

Looking forward to the detailed planning for excursions next!

Tina,
Saw the ice bars but may do it on our own since DD will be only 20 1/2! So close.....
Did you like the sunshine today?
Seems like first time in weeks....:cool2:

Cindy,

Can you change the "web presence" link on the first page to the new site?

Thanks

Seems to be a whole lot of DVC members on this cruise..
Who else? We thought about it once upon a time, but.....

Don't they usually have a DVC activity on-board?

Jeff

We are DVC!!!! Love it, been a member since the beginning too. They have a get together and give out DVC things. Once on the Mexico cruise they filmed a commercial and we got PAID to be in it....:woohoo: we got ship board credit...it was tons of fun, can't remember how much...but when we were on the MED cruise we saw the commercial and saw ourselves!!! Our 15 seconds of fame! :cool2:

Much of Europe has no drinking age at all. Some countries are 16 or possibly 18. I think your DD will have no problem, except on the ship itself. Even Russia is only 18. :)

but if we book it thru Disney they might say no!
On the Med cruise, in Monte Carlo, at lunch they just kept giving her wine. (she was only 17 then) She wasn't at our table but with another family who gave her back to us....:lmao:...she took a nice long nap while we went to Eze....

We loved Eze! I want to stay at this hotel.

The excursion description mentions serving soft drinks to those passengers who are underage, I think. Worst case, you can just taxi over and tour it on your own. Me, well I am way to chilly tonite to think about visiting an ice bar, lol. Our furnace broke last night and we had a few chilly hours while John was repairing it!

Love the pics of Eze. We visited there and John made it all the way up, touring around through various little streets, backyards, etc., lol. Me, I stayed down near the bottom...

We will give it a try, most likely on our own.
Loved Eze, reminded us of a place in Greece we stayed at for 4 nights. Too bad our daughter missed it!;)
We have been having "issues" with our heater too. Although it is not as cold here, I can relate. Last week when the heater guy was putting in another cold air return the house was in the 50's!

Thanks for the offer. I can make you an administrator if you'd like. You could then add content as you wish. Otherwise, i think it is just a matter of encouraging people to send me their info and any other relevant content.

Thanks
Jeff

ooohh, an administrator, sounds powerful. Since I have about 200 websites saved as favorites in my research of this trip- you might think carefully about granting such power..

It must be from all those years I was a travel agent, but planning, for me, is the best part!

Did you find out if there's a vacancy in the "arrange for a fish extender exchange" coordination? If so, that could be my first helpful act.

joanne

I still don't have a hotel in Dover. Does anyone have a suggestion? We will have a car, so access to public transport is less important.

Thanks
