Since we will be in St Petersburg on a monday and I've noticed that quite a few of the big items are closed on monday, has anyone heard if DCL will have special access to these? I've heard a rumor, don't know where, but this is gonna suck if we can't get into some of these places.

Has nothing to do with your quote. Just wanted to say I noticed we'll be on the Dream together as well. We're doing Alaska the week after.
I haven't heard anything about special access.

Seems to be a whole lot of DVC members on this cruise..
Who else? We thought about it once upon a time, but.....

Don't they usually have a DVC activity on-board?

Jeff

We are DVC members too. Didn't use points for the cruise though!!! We own at SSR and VGC!!!

I still don't have a hotel in Dover. Does anyone have a suggestion? We will have a car, so access to public transport is less important.

Thanks

We booked at Premier Inn Dover for 3 people in one room. We also will have a car.

I know Hermitage is closed on Monday. what else is?

So... any one else undecided about the fish extenders. I'm reading the weather reports on the other Baltics tips and it could be in the average 60s the entire trip. Doesn't seem very warm to me so, this definitely means we need to bring warmer clothes that take up more space. We are spending 5 nights in London and then, 12 night cruise. That's a lot of warm clothes to pack.

How many people are signed up so far?

Six families signed up so far for the FE exchange. I'm sure there will be more once it gets closer.
For those nervous about having enough room in the suitcase....
when we were on the TA from Barcelona in 2007, several families simply brought pre-printed labels from home with their name and happy sailing messages, etc and they stuck them to items they pickup up on the trip.

I thought it was an great idea! One family stuck their labels on chocolate bars from Spain. So, you don't need to take up valuable suitcase room to participate! :thumbsup2

We're usually 1st sitting diners with DS3 in tow, but have decided to go 2nd on this trip. On our typical Disney cruise the boat is the attraction. On this cruise we plan on really exploring the ports and don't want to feel pressured to get back on the ship for dinner.

We figure since most of the trip is spent traveling east dinner will just seem earlier and earlier, even to our son.

Hopefully this plan will work. We'll see.

I'm starting to agree with the logic of this, Scott. We've never had 2nd seating before. The fact that it doesn't get dark until 11pm will make it feel earlier! And we'd miss at least 3 dinners with the excursions we have planned.

That was a good tip..thanks!:)

I compiled most of the excursions into a .pdf today - I didn't put in the ones that I knew we wouldn't do (like the RIB boats or horseback riding) but pretty much got the rest of them. Then I printed them out so DH and I can start going through them.

As for FEs, we're bringing something small so it won't take up much room - but I always think about FEs like this -- that's space I'll fill up with a souvenir for the trip home :) Or we always leave a bit extra room.

You're right about the temps being in the 60s - I monitored the weather July 2009 for our ports and it was cooler in the more northern areas and then 15-20 degrees warmer in the more southern (like Germany and Copenhagen).

Joanne-

Are thinking about having a cutoff date for the FE exchange? You know me and trying to be organized. :)

IMHO, I don't think we should limit the number of participants. But, I do believe we should have a cut-off date for signing up since some of us are leaving early for Europe. Maybe something like June 15th as the last day to sign up?

In my haste in typing I left off date after cutoff. That is exactly what I meant, not limiting the number of participants. Sorry about that.

Great idea- we can use June 15th as the last day to sign up for FE exchange.

That way people can finalize what they need to bring, plan or pack.

Anyone else care to join? It's fun!:thumbsup2

I just added the DCL horn as my ring tone on phonezoo! As if I'm not enough of a Disney freak...

I have it at work as my "got mail" and also on my cell as the "voice mail" notification!!!

I want it as a door bell but I think the others might draw the line!

I went through the excusrions & picked out a couple I know all of us might be interested in & have them under 'saved activities' on the DCL site. Over the weekend we're hooking up my laptop to the TV & going through them so we can narrow it down, we'll pick out a first & second choice just in case somethings full by the time I can book them.

on the temp thing it's funny because I was thinking the other day - man no beaches & sun dresses this time

I wanted to say that in 5 months, we'll be sailing away, looking at the White Cliffs of Dover.

We are booked for the July 6 12 night---- as always, we look forward to our time in Palo.

We LOVE Marco - currently on the Wonder heading up Palo. If you've had a wonderful Palo experience with Marco, let's see if Disney will let him move to he Magic? Here's why I think Marco would be amazing as the maître d' on the Northern European:

1) He's European
2) Spent time in many of the countries - will be able to give us great advice
3) Crazy phenomenal service

Now I'm not saying that other Palo maître d's aren't aren't great, (they are!) but we think Marco is the best!!

Disney: Bring Marco to the Magic for the European cruise!
