[I'd like to hear how you guys are going to travel from Heathrow to central London. I've never been to LON and am curious what is best...[/QUOTE]

The fastest and easiest way to get to Central London from Heathrow is on the Heathrow Express. The trip takes about 15 minutes from Heathrow to Paddington Station, where you can either get a taxi to your next destination, or take the Tube. You can buy tickets with a credit card at machines just outside the entrance to the station in Heathrow (either one-way or with a return).

We are not doing either hotel or transport through Disney, and plan to take the train from Victoria Station from London to Dover. We are staying at a B&B (B&B Belgravia), which is walking distance from Victoria Station the night before the cruise. After the cruise, we will again take the train to Victoria, will transfer to the Paddington Station tube stop, then will stay for one night at the Hilton Paddington, so that it will be just a quick trip to the airport from there.

Hi Everyone...

I just thought I would pop and say "Hi" since my family and I will be sailing with you.

We are: DH, DW (me), DS (7) and DD (5)
Stateroom: 7020

I haven't had a chance to read the thread, at all, but it is on my "To Do List". I don't even really have a good excuse (especially since I've had this booked since Day 1) so I will try and get caught up (and in the process get to know you). In the meantime, I'm going to try and book another PC cruise tomorrow so wish me luck. :surfweb:

Welcome to the thread! I'm Cindy D. and will be traveling with DH (Gary) and our two boys (Nathan - 14 and Zachary - 12 at sailing time). We did the Med in 2007 and loved it.

Hello:

We booked the Alaskan cruise with Disney for July 26, 2011. Was surprised at how pricey it was but we are booked anyhow. There are five of us in a category 4A room. We have the Christmas 2010 cruised booked as well as the Northern European Capitals booked for July 6, 2010. We are very excited.

We're on the 6/21 Alaska sailing and someone on that thread posted that she saved something like $250 by booking a Cat 5C and Cat 11B rather than have her family of 4 in a Cat 5C. Yes, you read that right, she is saving money by booking people in 2 rooms rather than all in 1 room. Not sure if your Alaska sailing would work out the same, but it might be worth checking into listing 2 people in the Cat 4A and 3 people in a Cat 11B. You can still all sleep in the Cat 4A, but if it saves money and gives you a storage room, seems like a good deal!

We'll be checking into this for our cabins on the Alaska sailing as well. Of course I checked for this cruise and no such luck. Difference with Alaska, at least our date, is that the 3rd and 4th people in at least Cat 5Cs and up cost more than the 1st and 2nd people in the Cat 11s. Not the case on the Baltic sailngs, but if it saves me some money on Alaska I am all for it!

Joanne----I watched...I would love to go to Alaska but REALLY want to go the the Dalmatian Coast and Greek Islands more. Wonder, no pun, if they will go to again to Alaska...love the Greek Islands. There are so many, we went in 2007 before the Med cruise. Want to go back...maybe 2012

You can join us on our Jul 3 NCL GEM cruise - We're going there!

Just thought I'd pop in and read a little and say :wave2: Still wish we were sailing with you all.

Hey John!!! How are you doing? And the family????
What year is this cruise you are going on? I would love that cruise....
Want to do Alaska but the price is so high and it doesn't go to a glacier...:confused3
Any chance of you changing and joining us again next year?
denise

Since we had to cancel our Magic Baltic plans :guilty:, we're going south on the GEM Jul 3-17, '10. It is a 14 night r/t from Venice and has stops at Split, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos, Athens, several Greek islands. Much less expensive than DCL too (2 bedroom Penthouse suite with bulter and concierge for several $,$$$ less)!

Kyle and Alex are still a little bummed about not being with their friends and think it is stupid that we're restricted from going, but they rather do the 14 day Adriatic than 7 day Alaska (I gave them the option).

Maybe we can hook-up on a Disney Dream cruise in 2012!

For Sure:thumbsup2....We like to cruise every other year anyway. Really want Alaska but so much $$ We want something excititng like the Med cruise we did or the Baltic..just no repeats....You know we will take Greece any day...or and that CAN be a repeat!!!
Keept in touch...

Hi guys! Checking back in - finished our ABD China trip so now time to start planning for next summer. Have been trying to catch up on posts so won't ask any questions until I do - except this one - i see many of you are doing private tours in St. Petersburg - - is it true you have to get a Visa if you do it that way? sorry if that has been answered.:rolleyes1
we are Lisa (40), Sue (69) Ashton(DS-12), Kaylee(DD-11)
and poss 2 more. we are from Austin, TX will be in 8016, and have late dining. coming in on the 3rd and staying at the Rennaisance. booking flights on our own with Delta. guess that's it so far. look forward to Dissing with you guys!! (looks like we will be with a few of you on the 2011 Alaskan too)

Hi Lisa,

Would love to hear about your ABD China trip, as I would love to do that some time. Have you posted a trip report? As to your question about private tours in Russia, my understanding is that, yes, you will need to get a visa. I have read that some of the better private tour companies will secure them for you. We plan to do several shore excursions on our own, but I think we will stick to the DCL ones for St. Petersburg so that we can avoid the visa hassle.

Hi guys I've got some sad news. As much as we have been looking forward to this cruise we have had some medical problems come up that are going to prevent us from traveling out of the country next summer. I hated to give up this cruise and we really struggled with this decision but everybody feels that it would be bets for us not to be so far away. So instead we will be going to BLT for10 days and have moved our cruise to the July 9 2011 med cruise.

Lissa

Hi Lissa... I'm sorry you had to cancel. But sounds like you'll still get to cruise Disney. We loved the Med cruise we did in 2007 so, I'm sure you all have a great time.

Tina

We are using:

http://www.woodfordchauffeurcars.co.uk/

We are going private even though it is pricy. I just don't think I could get my kids to use a train with our luggage. They are too young. I figured we'll each have a carryon for the plane that is either a backpack and I'll definitely take a rollon. Then, we'll have one piece of luggage each. My youngest will be 9 years old but she is on the smaller side and I can't think that she'd be able to keep up if she had to roll her own luggage.

So, we are going private which is a bit more expensive. We are also having the car service take us to Bath. They will be picking us up from the airport taking us to our hotel. Then, coming back two days later to drive us to Bath for a day tour. Then, they will come back 3 days later to take us to Dover. They will be picking us up at Dover for our flight home.

Our flight home is the same day we come into port so, I wanted to use private transportation to ensure we make it to LHR in time for our 1:35 pm flight.

But if you have flexibility I'd travel via train/bus if you could.

Lisa,

China must have been amazing. Technically, you do need a visa, but as long as you use a licensed tour operator you fall under their permit and do not need to spend the money on a visa application. Their is a lot of discussion on this topic over on the cruise critic Baltics board. The consensus there is that you get more for your money and a better experience with a private tour instead of a ship excursion. I posted previously I was happy to try and coordinate a private tour for our group. I only had one family interested, but the offer still stands.

Scott....
we are interested in your offer...there will be 3 of us for sure and maybe our friends Janet and Kenny. Our daughters BFF is 99.9% not going..she wants to buy a car instead...go figure :confused3
let us know what you have in mind...
just lmk

We were thinking about doing it with a private tour company as well. Just hadn't had the time to do more research on which company. There are 3 of us (all adults).
Thanks

Thanks for the replies! I def. like the private tours - on the Med we did mainly private and our friends did DCL and although overall quite happy with it - they thought we prob got more out of it - we did have some great guides - that makes all the difference - so anyway....would love to do a private one in St Petersburg - just kinda chicken to do it alone with a grandma and 2 kids;) - so Scott, we would be interested too.
ABD China trip was amazing - our best trip ever - i didn't write a trip report, but there are several good ones by others who also went this summer. we are ABD addicts, so any questions are welcome!
Have a great night!

Been quiet the last few days. I am working in our pre-cruise plans. I am thinking we are going to spend 3 nights with friends just north of London. A night in Windsor and a night in Dover. I got a great rate on a rental car from Avis.

Just a quick "Hi" to everyone! Crazy busy here lately. Hoping to get some time this week to start pouring over Baltic details again... :surfweb:

back from Disneyland so now can start researching cars and transportation while over there..and things to do while there..can't wait for the excursions to be announced....

Just got a email saying I was picked to host a DCL House Party on Nov 14th!!! Now the planning begins....
I am in Northern CA just above Sacramento---if anyone who lives close wants to come just let me know. It would be fun to meet you and also have another person at the party who has sailed on DCL....

I saw that on the other thread. Congratulations!! :woohoo::woohoo:
Unfortunately I did not get picked. I'll be on my cruise, but have heard of others who were able to change the date of the party and that was what I was hoping for. Oh well, next time. My BF did get picked and she lives in Homestead, FL. So, I told her to save me a set of goodies. I was the one who told her about the party. She didn't even know. Happy planning.
