We've already started buying and reading guide books. I just couldn't wait to get started planning this trip. I did get all of my Christmas shopping done yesterday. All I've got left to do is finishing getting my mom's b-day stuff. I'm so ready for Christmas.

Hmmmm think I will be making a trip to Barnes and Noble soon! Would be nice to find a book that covers the Northern European Capitals all in one.

Samantha Brown Weekend Getaway London- 11/30/08 good tips, don't know how old the show is.

I saw it last week. i set my DVR to record all her episodes in case she does new ones for northern Europe. one of her tips was there is a staircase you can take to the top of St. Paul's Cathedral for a great view of London...for free!!!

Hello Everybody

I bought lots of book for Med and I think I am not buying any more books this times.

I read cruisecritic and it help and lots of information there.

I never heard Black Friday maybe I missed out *** I cannot hear....

I did read my dis on panama and I realised what Black Friday about.

I am planning to go to New York next year last week in November 09 and I have to tell ladies about Black Friday and Thanksgiving too.

Have a nice day...

Scottishwee35

I avoid it if i can. Very extremely crowded :scared1: shopping day which traditionally kicks off the holiday season. :santa: You will find some great shopping in the city, though. If you like Italian food...there is a great touristy place called Carmines in the theater district. Family Style dining. Perfect for a group of ladies. Also, are you planning to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? It is a fantastic spectacle to watch. popcorn:: We are going to go one of these years. will try to book a hotel room along the parade route so can watch from the comfort of inside rather than sit outside in the BRRRRRRRRRR cold. I am from New York (60 miles north of Manhatten) and never saw the parade. :sad1: I love it, and all of its "cheesy" glory!!! Well, I love NYC...it is my favorite with San Francisco a close second. Dying to see Chicago!!!

Hi Vicki :wave2: , I know you are lurking.:ssst: Can you feel the  ?

In case I don't get a chance to log on tomorrow...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYLIE!!!

:bday: party: :cake:

THANK YOU!!!

She's finally a teenager - something she was excited about, us - not so much.

Good morning everybody. Hope you enjoyed your turkey and/or ham.
We went to my SIL's . It was very nice not to have to cook this year. I always cook Christmas dinner though...Prime Rib. My DFIL always picks up a nice one from the butcher. This way we can stay at home so Jack can play with his "Haul." The kid is spoiled by DH's parents. They ask for a list, we provide it, list fulfilled. Helps us out a lot. It is tough when your kid has a bday close to Christmas. We look all year long, but really start shopping in the summer. DH was up at 4am to hit Toys R Us before work. Poor guy. Not really...he is working only half day, then he will hit the golf course to play a round of golf with some out of town friends in for the holiday. anyway, that should be the last of what we need to cover the "kid's" BDAY and XMAS...with the exception of small stocking stuffers.

Anybody else planning to strengthen our economy by heading out on this fine Black Friday ? I avoid it like the plague if I can. crowds are too crazy for me. too many psychos. JK!!

have a good day everybody!!!

Kaylie now has everything she wanted for her birthday. Not going to be easy shopping for Santa. We are also lucky. Christmas Eve with in-laws, Christmas morning with my family - she gets so much we rarely get her anything from us:rotfl2: (birthday too :lmao:) I told DH that we'd better get her something this year since she's old enough to notice if anyone asks what "your parents" got you:rolleyes1

Going to see Mickey tomorrow with three other families and my family. My parents and sister bought annual passes at Costco - deluxe $269/including a $50 Disney gift card.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday!

I'm glad I didn't buy travel books because I had forgotten that I had asked AAA to send me some :) I got the AAA Europe Travel book and several maps (for orienting purposes) - the Scandinavia and Baltic States one is of particular interest as it has Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden as well as inset maps of Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, and Stockholm.

I got one with Great Britain and also one with Germany as well. Somehow there wasn't one of Russia :confused3

Cindy, you're absolutely brilliant!!! I totally forgot that we can order travel books from AAA! I'm going to do that right now! :thumbsup2

The new refridgerator was delivered early this morning. I was finally able to empty the coolers into it a few hours later. Folks, I can tell ya, it's not very convenient for a fridge to break down at Thanksgiving time! :headache:

Deborah - thought you'd like to know that the true meaning of "Black Friday" is it's typically when the stores finally turn a profit for the year, going from "red" to "black" in their financial ledgers. :) We usually avoid Black Friday but this year we had to head out to buy the fridge. :guilty:

I hope everyone has a good week! pirate:

After spending all day/night Friday, Saturday, and today...here is a picture of our house...

IMG_0073.jpg

Just kidding. Here are some pictures of our outside decorations. We kept it simple this year!

IMG_0150.jpg

Our Snowman family:)

IMG_0151.jpg

Our front yard

IMG_0152.jpg

The whole thing. Yep, not much out this year.

IMG_0153.jpg

Just another view.

I will add those light up orbs to the front tree. I need to go buy them...too lazy to do it today. So, what does everybody elses houses look like? :santa:

Very nice pix of the house decorations! Would take some pix of ours, however, its been snowing out most of the day here..only expecting around 5 inches but that is enough! Expecting a slow commute in the morning, sigh...

Snow! How fantastic! I remember that from when I was a boy. Sadly all we get here is one week sunshine, one week snow that's too light to settle, and fifty weeks grey drizzle.

Oh, and the weight loss is going great now! One whole stone lost!!!! (that's fourteen pounds). I'm feeling quote pleased with myself, and much better on the inside too.

Thank you very much. Snow! We get a sprinkling lasting all of about 5 minutes maybe once every other year. 20 miles north the snow will get us our freeway shut down a half dozen times a year.

Thanks. I won't decorate inside until next week. we try very hard not to associate the "kid's" birthday with christmas. the only decoration i have up inside is a quilted advent calendar full of treats that santa :santa: "delivers" for the morning of December 1st. i love that he still believes. i almost forgot last night. he would have been devestated if it wasn't here this morning.

Have a great day everybody!!!

Great decorations!

We may get a travel guide for London, but there is also a lot of information on the Fodor's website. That is a really great source of information. They have a message board where you can get a lot of great information as well. I think we will rely on the internet for a lot and then go from there.

oops. deleted the xmas pictures. I'll get them back up for your viewing pleasure in a few minutes.:)

I spent the weekend recovering from Thanksgiving and putting the finishing touches on our outdoor XMas display. I will post pictures as soon as I have a chance. Tonight we start on the inside. We usually have 2 trees and an indoor village with 50 or so pieces.
