July 5 2014 Mediterranean Cruise Meet Thread

Does anyone know if Disney runs buses between the cruise port in Venice and Piazza di Roma?

You wouldn't need a bus
There is a people mover from Piazle Roma which is where the buses all stop for the bridge over into Venice and the train station plus all the water taxis etc
Have a look here

Yes I have seen it, though it seems like it would take forever to get everyone over from the cruise terminal.

Great idea to have a facebook group.
We just sent you a request to join the group.
My name is Dagmar Heyman. I'll be on the cruise with my hubbie Jos en son Walt (11).
We're looking forward to meet you all.

Hi everyone, we have been signed up for this cruise since the first day it went on sale, but we've been waffling on whether to keep it or push it back to 2015 when the new itineraries come out. The kids really want to go (DD14 is a big Percy Jackson and mythology fan) and 2014 is the last summer DS will be able to go in the vibe, but DH and I are holding out for the Baltics (I know it's a long shot) or a Greece/Turkey AND Croatia cruise in 2015. As a number of you have mentioned, we aren't super thrilled with the odd Venice port time/overnight. We just returned from our second ABD to Scotland and had an amazing time, so we are considering the ABD add-on for this cruise--it will depend on airfare costs. Anyone purchase their air yet?

Anyway, the undecideds are me, DH, DS16 (17 at cruise time) and DD14 :)

This trip is ideal for us as we are from UK so a very short flight of about 2hours from London to Venice and about another 1 hour from our home to London
Our son is 13 this year and his school breaks up much earlier than the rest of the UK schools so we like the dates here and the itinerary looks fab apart from the short time in Venice at end, but we've already had three nights in Venice last year on another cruise! So we had opted for three nights pre cruise this time we will just take one night before

Speaking of odd overnight, can anyone explain how the last day of cruise works? We get into
Venice night before but then leave ship for good in morning?

My DH decided that if we had to spend that much for airfare that he wanted the 12 night cruise instead!
I wish you all a safe journey!

Yes and I'm unsure how the leaving luggage outside cabins as we are asked to put cases out in between 8.30 and 10.30pm so doesn't leave much of an evening in Venice on last night when we don dock until 6.30pm ??

Wow! I've missed a lot and here I thought nothing was going on. I must not be getting updates. I'll have to fix that.

We just booked the Adventures by Disney portion.

I am so excited to see all the under 18s on this cruise! Welcome to all the travelers!

Thank you! I'm psyched to hear you signed up for ABD. We are thinking about doing it as well (although we have to decide whether we are going to keep the cruise first, LOL). I'm reading some of the trip reports that have included Greece and Venice and trying to figure out whether there is something I "must" see that ABD isn't doing. The only think I've seen so far is that they aren't doing the Terrace Houses in Turkey. Probably not a deal breaker for me though.

I really like all that is planned. The only thing I'd change if I could is to either start in Athens or have more time there. In the original plans I made for this trip we were doing several day trips out of Athens. Can't really do that with this cruise.

I hope you'll stay with the cruise, it really includes great highlights for Greece.

Thanks found it! Where is the emails question though please?

There are two ways that I know of: (1) When you hit the "subscribe" link there will be a screen that pops up that asks about "notification type" and you can choose whether you want to receive no email, daily email or instant email. (2) When I reply to a post from a thread I have subscribed to (like right now), if I page down from the reply screen, an "additional options" heading is right below the "reply to thread" area and you can also choose how to receive email from there.

With the direction of a more casual society, does any one know if we will have formal nights on our 9 night cruise?

I understand that they have relaxed rules for the dining room to allow shorts and jeans, but I bet they will still have formal night as so many people have fun getting dressed up!
