July 5 2014 Mediterranean Cruise Meet Thread

Welcome abroad to all the new people on the cruise. For those of you who live in Europe, we have a question for you. We have two days before the cruise and we looking for somewhere to go close to Venice that we could easily see in two days. We have done most of Italy and France. We are thinking Saltzburg or Vienna or the German castles. Any suggestions?

This seems to be a pretty popular destination for the castle lovers and it's one of the main castles the Cinderella Castle in WDW is designed from.

Enjoy!! It sits in the Bavarian area which is dotted with so many castles and great views of the Alps and picture perfect villages straight from a travel magazine!!

Hi there RunnerMomO~

We are interested in joining an FE. I see the previous lists are full and was wondering if you were going to create new ones as we go along?? If so, we'd like to join one please.

We are a party of three: Myself (Lisa), DH (Matt) and DD (Madison age 15). We are currently booked for room 2013, but the hubby wants a Verandah (and I usually prefer one too but felt the money would be better spent on excursions)...we'll have to 'rock, paper, scissors' that later. If it changes, I will let you know.

Also, I don't do well seasickness wise if I am not midship!!! That's another reason for switching rooms!

Has anyone started pricing airfare from US yet?

We will be flying from Boston week before. So far best I get is $3700 to fly into Rome, out of Venice (that is for 3).

I figured I should start to watch it so I see trends.

I am tracking with Travelocity. But I am looking at multiple cities from Orlando. So far I am seeing about $1000 a ticket as best so far.

That seems really high. I've been keeping an eye on the airfare for a while and from SFO to VCE it seems to be hovering around $1600-1700. I'm going to wait a little while longer and hope it drops to more the $1300 range.

We were fortunate enough to be able to book with miles but that is about what I was getting from Indianapolis...into Milan and home from Venice.
