July 5, 2011 - Mickey's WONDERful Alaskan Adventure

Hi
A quick question.
When you book through a travel agent, do you usually get an OBC?
I had to go with a particular agent to get this date (to celebrate my grandmother's birthday) and there are no perks. I just was curious what other peoples experience has been.
We're done with school/work on the 16th. Then I'm in full cruise mode!
Can't wait!

I had only booked cruises on my own via Disney until a year ago. I rebooked a cruise while on board and not only did Disney give me a 10% discount but I also got OBC! I had read on the boards that if you moved your reservation to Dreams Unlimited they would also give you a OBC. So my last cruise, the repo from LA to Vancouver, I got 10% off the price, $150 OBC from Disney and $100 OBC from Dreams Unlimited! Sweet....

I have a future cruise next year booked through Costco Travel and they are giving me a Costco Gift Card at the end of my travel worth about $500!!! which is over 10% off. You can use the card at Costco or just cash it. We didn't rebook this one on board as it is the Fantasy Maiden and it was selling out fast and we couldn't wait until a cruise in case it was sold out!

The July 5th cruise was a rebook while on board too but I never switched it to anyone else. It was booked as the New Years Dream cruise but after coming home from the Repo the family voted to move it to this Alaska cruise. I was waiting to see how the move to Dreams Unlimited went with the Repo Cruise and then move the New Years one. (everything went perfect, no problems) But since we changed the sail date with just weeks before the cruise I don't want to chance it. I'm sure it would be ok but Disney did carry my 10% discount to this one but my OBC went up!!! It was only $100 for the New Years but went to $175 for the Alaska...so I am happy!!!

So when we are on board in a few weeks we will definitely do what so many do....book another cruise out as far as possible as a dummy cruise. The 10% discount is just too good....:thumbsup2

Came home to find our documents are here as well. Wow have they changed over the years. Love all the personalized info in the book.

Our documents were in the mail today too. Mary, I was going to comment on how nice the booklets are too. Busy day at work and just now winding down. Will plan to look the documents all over tomorrow.

It's getting so close!! :woohoo:

Still waiting, but ours went through a travel agent, maybe today! :rolleyes1

we went thru travel agent as well..although the last time we went thru a travel agent we didnt get our stuff till like the day before we was to leave for our vacation.

belle26,
we cancelled the adventure hike. It looks like it will be too strenuous for our family, especially my 10 year old. check out this review. I hope it works out for you, though!

Holy cow, that's not what I expected at all! :scared1: We're going to rethink think this one as well - guess it's back to the drawing board for this port. What did you decide to do instead?

Still waiting for luggage tags, maybe Tuesday!:rolleyes1

SoCalDCLfan,
We cancelled this also, thanks for finding that review - I have been reading them, but got behind. I probably wouldn't have seen it. We booked the early Mendenhall Glacier and Rainforest Garden Adventure instead, how about you?

I know! Not at all what we expected either. :scared1: My husband really wants to do some type of (easier) hiking and wants to see the glacier, so we decided to visit the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor center on our own. There's a Blue shuttle bus that goes between the cruise doc and the visitor center for $8 each way. The buses run every 30 minutes from 9am-6pm. Once there, there appears to be easier level trails that are near the visitor center and go down to the lake/beach and near a waterfall. We plan to go in the morning, spend a few hours and then come back to town for lunch/shopping.

That sounds like a great excursion. The Rainforest gardens look beautiful! Soooo glad we found out about the hike ahead of time. I can't imagine the day we would have had otherwise!!

Since we are getting chattier and i see a couple new people have joined us I felt i should just put up a notice asking if anyone else wants to join the FE? Please let me know. I will need stateroom number, names would be nice, number and age of those in your party, where from, and if you are celebrating anything special. I also will need your email address to send you a copy of the final list at 30 days before the cruise so everyone has plenty of time to make or get their FE's done. Right now we have roughly 40 people in 14 staterooms.

Welcome all new comers.
Thanks for the update 14 staterooms ;)

Stateroom number 2044
We are celebrating
Mark Pasechnick Turning 50
Patricia Pasechnick 50
Jenna Pasechnick birthday just turning 17 years :scared1: (I feel old)
Mark & my 20 year anniversary

Sounds like a fun group! My DH and I are celebrating our 24th while on-board (7/11)

Speaking of Palo when is everyone booked?

We're doing brunch on our Tracy Arm day, dinner on Ketchikan evening and high tea on our last sea day.

Sounds like there will be alot of romantic Polo nights

Congrat's on your 24th!!!

My hubby's idea of fun is to NOT dress up so no Palo for us. You and Mary will have to tell me all about it. When is your anniversary?
