July 5, 2011 - Mickey's WONDERful Alaskan Adventure

As for being negative about the destination ports that DCL selected, I don't care. :goodvibes

We've never been to Alaska so any port will be new and exciting for our family! Looking forward to soft serve ice cream, adult clubs, the adult pool, some outstanding table companions, and a great time being pampered by a Wonderful crew.

I'm so totally with you on this. :thumbsup2

In short, I think there are 2 camps here . . .

#1 - those who want to see Alaska for Alaska and don't care about the ship, and

#2 - those who want to cruise Disney and don't really care about the ports.

Its just a matter of priority. Nobody is wrong.

On another note, I'm hearing Eastern Med for 2012 . . .

I don't think it is as black and white as that.

We want to see Alaska and we care about the ports, but we also love DCL and know we will get a quality product from them. So for us sailing DCL to Alaska is a good fit. It isn't for everyone, which is true about everything in life. However I do think it is wrong to try and make people who are sailing DCL are getting an inferior product and that's what some (not all but some) are doing.

Perfect example. We have no interest in the Med but I wouldn't put anyone down for doing it.

Good morning my fellow Alaskan cruisers!

Has anyone been checking out excursions from other cruise lines to get an idea of what DCL will be offering? Wonder when DCL will announce thier excursions. I'm thinking most of what we'll be doing will be through DCL instead of on our own.

Hi cruisers!

We'll definitely be booking excursions through DCL. We've been adventurous in the past but have always enjoyed the security of DCL making the arrangement. One not-so-great experience was made right by Disney (of course) and they have our loyalty!

37 weeks - hard to believe time is flying right by!

My this is a quiet group. I think I've hit a record with 4 weekly countdowns on the same page. :) I'm sure we'll get busier once excursions are announced and we get closer. Guess I'm used to being with chattier groups. We just booked a 5 night on the Dream for March of 2012 with a group of friends we've met on the DVC Member Cruises. The group started booking on Friday and I created the meets thread that day and we are already past 100 posts in less than a week. Of course there are much chattier groups out there. The current member cruise thread is already on their second thread and they've only been booked about a month. :scared1:

I see you are sporting a new picture in your signature. :goodvibes We'd love to go on one of the new ships. I think that will have to wait for Walt's retirement.

On our last cruise we didn't even have enough chatter on our cruise thread to meet (Mexican Riviera in 2008).

I'm looking forward to seeing what excursions are available. We'll be doing all through DCL.

Some of our group from the 2009 Member Cruise have been talking for a while about getting together again as have some on the 2008 cruise. We've kept chatting on the 2009 thread and on Facebook and finally all agreed on a date that works. It is a 5 night with two stops at Castaway Cay which I guess will offset not going to CC in 2011. :)

WOW! On a slightly related topic did any of you see the pictures of the Disney Dream coming out of the 'barn'? It's HUGE and stunning. (I'm a friend on Facebook of WDW and DCL)

I missed the live float out but saw a number of pictures and videos on Saturday. Isn't she beautiful?

I'll have to look you up on Facebook and ask to be your friend as I often spend more time there than here. :)
