We sail in 34 weeks!

Hi Cruisers,
Any word out there about when the excursions may be available to look into? We can't wait to explore Alaska with Mickey and friends.

Happy Veterans Day and a great big thank you to all our vets and current service men and women.

I've been thinking the same thing. I went and downloaded a brochure from RCCL to see what they are offering for 2011. I'm sure they won't be 100% the same but it is giving us an idea of what is out there and what costs might be.

Hi Mary,
I loved your Veteran's Day picture - VERY cool.

I too have been combing web sites for excursions and cost. I don't think we'll be doing anything super expensive as we'll be paying for 4. Have you found anything interresting?

Teresa

Teresa - haven't had a lot of time to look it over in depth since I downloaded it. Since it is somewhere we've never been before it I think it is going to be hard to decide as I've seen lots of things that look interesting.

BTW I forgot to tell you I was reading your report on the holiday tour at Disneyland. Loved it and we've booked it for our upcoming December trip.

You will LOVE Disneyland at Christmas. Did you get into the GCH villas? We have just stayed at the hotel part on points which I was told isn't an option any more because the vacation club part is open. If we ever did an add-on it would be here for sure!

There is a HUGE thread on DIS 'Disneyland at Christmas'. If you find yourself with a little surfing time you should check it out.

Yes we were able to get all our nights in a studio at VGC. I have been reading that thread. We were there at the holidays about 5 years ago and I'm excited to be going back.

This is actually our second time out there when they're decorated for the holidays. The last few years of WDW scaling back on the decorating to focus on the hard ticket event has really disappointed us. Excluding the Very Merry, Disneyland has them beat hands down. :thumbsup2

The last time we were out at DL for it, we got a package that included a roped off viewing area for the parade. We of course got there early, and for a while were the only ones there, in our light DVC jackets and lanyards. The only place to sit was on the top of a cement wall, not something I can do for long periods, so I'm out there standing by the walkway, people watching. And guests keep coming up to me to ask questions! :lmao:The castmember who was covering the area seemed a bit worried at first, but after a bit of me giving accurate answers warmed up and was entertained by it. :rotfl:

You will love the holiday tour! Very interesting, and the only way my menfolk would EVER have ridden on the holiday IASW. We all found the holiday makeover of that ride charming.

Was the Haunted Mansion Nightmare Before Christmas the last time you visited? It was a TOTAL re-do right down to different hitch hikers. VERY impressive.

The entire Holiday Tour was wonderful from the free fudge to our OUTSTANDING reserved seats for the parade. I'm glad you and your sweetie booked it for December. All this talk of the tour has me hungry for the Mickey Gingerbread cookie.

Take some pics of the DVC studio. I'm very curious what it looks like.

I totally agree that DL beats WDW for total immersion into the holiday! The little CS restaurant in DGC was even fully decked out for the season.

Isn't it fun to have our own personal thread??? Our fellow cruisers seem to be AWOL. ;)

Thanks Mary! I love this graphic. My first animated card today. Brunch later and a day of DVR watching and sewing. Life is Good.

Can't wait for July!

Wahoo! I think you, Mark, and my family will have the ship to ourselves! Where are all the other DIS cruisers? Still going? Check in...

I'm beginning to think you might be right. Might not be the best week for people to check in since it is the holiday, but hopefully the others haven't canceled and will check in.

I'm also thinking once Disney releases the excursions that people will get more active.

We're still here! I tend to be more of a lurker than a poster. I do enjoy the weekly countdowns. My husband's aunt and uncle just booked also. They're the fun relatives, so we're very excited. I'm starting to think about FE gifts - do we have a list of people yet? is there a cut-off date to participate?

Any thoughts on waterproof hiking shoes? I've read waterproof shoes are a must in port, but my mom thinks I'm crazy to be buying them. Would tennis shoes be OK?

Found a preview to Disney's excursions on the cruise critic website. sounds like they're adding a Disney touch to some of the excursions. http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1186

I'll check in more often - that way there will be 3 of us posting at least!!

YEAH! Thanks for posting the link too Meg. What fun to be traveling with extended family. I wish my family liked to cruise because I think that would be an ideal was to travel together but enjoy seperate time as well by customizing your excursions.

off to the link! The FE should be easy with the four of us ;)
