July 4th week - what to do?

October trip has been cancelled and decided to go the 1st week of July instead. This is confirmed since we now have booked our tickets too.

Staying at SSR 7/2 to 7/9, what do you recommend? Are there special shows/events to see?
It will be me, DH and DS3.

I don't know how late your 3 year old can stay up. However, the MK has the "special 4th of July fireworks" also on the 3rd. Last year we booked the "Wishes Dessert Party" on the 3rd. We had great desserts, and great viewing of the fireworks without being in the thick of the crowd.

On the 4th Epcot has special fireworks, but what they do that's special is in the afternoon at the American Gardens theater Micky, Goofy and I think it was Donald, appeared with the Voices of Liberty for a Patiotic Concert. This took place 3 times during the afternoon. The first one wasn't nearly as crowded as the third one was.

Sorry - all these last minute changes has fried my brain.

Your suggestions sounds great - we are not aware of these. I am not familiar with the dessert party but I am open to trying it. I don't have a sweet tooth and prefers a steak over dessert.

think last year might have been in 2009 - there were fireworks at DD for July 4 - don't know if they still do it or not

There's also the golfcart parade at Ft Wilderness. We saw it last year for the first time and it was fun

MK will be very very crowded on the 4th we always spend the day at EPCOT then we have ADR's at Ohana's. We arrive little early ask for a Castle view and watch the fireworks while having a GREAT dinner. Wait about half hour after fireworks then Monorail over for some EMH at MK then. It's a little cooler and a WHOLE lot less crowded now this all depends on how well your 2 yo can stay out late Enjoy we believe there is no better place to be on the 4th the WDW!...Shawn

Actually they did not have them in 2009 either. We usually go to DDD for the july 4th fire works and in 2009 I was on one of the disney buses and there were signs all up and down the road saying that DDD fireworks cancelled for tonight. They did not have them last year either and we do not go anywhere near the parks on the 4th so now we just sit at the AKL pool bar If there are not any on the 4th this year that is where I will be again!
