July 4, 2010 crowds

We took a shot and wend to DL yesterday for the fireworks. We got there around 3:30 since we were staying late (I have 2 little ones and I wanted them to get good naps in).

No problem with parking - still in Mickey and Friends up on level 5, but there was plenty. No signs up or mentions of closing down the parks.

Overall, the crowds seemed typical of a regular summer day, if not a little lighter. Longest posted ride wait was 60 min for Splash Mountain. I think Nemo was the same. The rest were between 20-30 minutes.

We got a spot for fireworks at a bench at 6:30 and we took turns riding rides with the kids until 9:00.

The fireworks were really good, but not spectacular. The show seemed shorter than Magical which was a bit surprising and slightly disappointing. Somehow, I expected a bit more as DL is really known for their FW displays.

That being said, it was a lot of fun, and we are glad we went. We would do it again if it worked out.

Glad to hear you had a good time. With all but Premium AP blocked out I've heard it wasn't as crowded as it used to be.

So do you think it was a typical FW show at disney, or just not a overdone 4th FW show?, becuse even there regular nightly show is pretty amazing?

On a related note: Instead of starting a new thread, I just thought I would add to this one. I spoke with a friend who frequents DL who went yesterday (because he could not talk his out of town friends out of it hehe). His comment on the crowds was that it was pretty light all day - until fireworks, at which time it was crazy.

ChickenCarlos - Both. I think it was less than their typical show and a little underwhelming for a 4th show. Still a fun day, but I wanted a little more. I think it was on the same par as my city's show, except Lakewood has no castle to shoot fireworks off of.
