After reading this entire thread (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2962405), we hope our group doesn't experience any of this.

On a more happier note: only 6 more days until our cruise! :cool1: Any one else staying at The Crowne Plaza in Seattle the day/night before? I think we are going to check out Pike Place Market...heard that there is some good food there. :thumbsup2

Oh my that's terrible! This is my third Disney cruise but first one where i have been on this thread and will be doing FE. I think this incident was a rare thing and i intend to act the same on this cruise as i do on any other.

Positive we set sail in one week!!! I booked this last summer and have been counting down cant believe we are a week away!!!!!!

Oh my goodness......just read over that thread and it nearly made me cry. Oh, DISers..... I love these boards, but our family really doesn't get too involved with the group once we're onboard, b/c well, we're on a FAMILY vacation. No offense!! Making new friends is fun, and I enjoy being excited together and sharing advice- but moving around the ship in a huge DIS group is not my cup of tea. And frankly, my last cruise DID have folks that became really close and acted similar to how the OP described. Super sad. Let's all have a great time, folks!! Enjoy your families and your FE's if you're doing them! Make some new friends along the way, but be respectful of others!

My family was at Pike Place just yesterday and here's a few tips:
1) When the ships are in port, it is VERY busy. Even on a Sunday. Huge lines at the oldest Starbucks, and Beecher's Cheese (the mac n cheese is to die for!) Big crowds around the fish throwers- but worth seeing!!
2) A new Target is opening just up the street on the 29th- so if you forgot something, a quick stop is easy! Just walk straight up Pike St from the "main" Public Market Center sign w/ the clock. (Not the "Public Market" sign- there are two- just to confuse you!)
3) The Hard Rock Cafe (also just up the street from the market, between 1st and 2nd) has a 21 and older terrace with AMAZING views and nice couches for a relaxing break if you're an adults only group. (We're not...but I went up there to check it out and it was SO cool!)
4) The "gum wall" is just down the stairs from the bronze pig- and while disgusting, the teens we were hosting from Germany thought it was the best photo opp ever. "They have one in NY!" :)

ONLY ONE WEEK TO GO!!! I cannot WAIT to hear that magical horn again in just 7 days, 6 hours!

Remember that she's in port again today and can be seen on the webcam: http://74.92.225.161:32610/advanced.web?s=0;#BZ1Z0Z11ODLZ7Z2U :sail:

We are staying at Sheraton Seattle and plan on doing Pike Place and the Ride the duck tour, i am not sure if you frequent Seattle often but if so can you recommend a few good restaurants around Pike Place or the hotel. :thanks:

Thanks so much for those great tips! We read online all about Pike Place Market and we can't wait to see the sights! :)

Yes, I too would like to know about some good restaurants! :goodvibes

If you like seafood, Etta's just north of the Market is phenomenal, and is owned by local chef celebrity Tom Douglas. They even sell the "Rub with Love" spices in the cafe next door. Chowder is great just about anywhere- either at Pike Place Chowder, or at Lowell's restaurant in the Market itself. (Sit upstairs for a great view of the water and the new "Seattle Great Wheel" (ferris wheel.)

Near the Sheraton, Wild Ginger (Pan-Asian food) and the Icon Grill (artsy homecooked faves) are our favorites. The Icon Grill even serves their mac and cheese with a side of EXTRA CHEESE SAUCE. It's right underneath the monorail on Fifth Ave, so that's kind of cool too!

Speaking of the monorail- it boards at Westlake Center (near the West side of Nordstrom, above the Nordstorm Rack)- and is a fun, quick ride over to Seattle Center to see the Space Needle, etc. Pretend you hear "Stand clear of the doors" like at WDW and Disneyland! :) HAVE FUN!!

Time to go watch the Wonder embark for one last time before we get on it....

Very smart to ship them! We some how managed to get them into our carry on bags. I can't believe we are sooo close only dreading the looonnnggg flight

Hey there fellow cruisers, does any one know if you can ship stuff that you buy/get on the cruise back home? Would we be able to do this on the ship or do we have to wait until we get into port to ship something? Just wondering how we are going to bring back all of our souvenirs since our luggage is on the boardline weight limit haha :lmao:

And if they can do it I wonder what the cost is? Is it better to ship or just pay the overweight luggage or extra bag fee since for my flight it's like $30

You too! Just as bad on the way home. Get home 11:50 pm our time. Could not risk booking earlier - had to make sure we were off the ship and at the airport.
