July 30, 2010 - Wonder

I would be interested in knowing everyone's cabin # and the children/ages in that room. While we won't be participating in a FE, I always take along some small goodies to place in random FEs. Just my way of spreading some :wizard:

On a different note - we just upgraded from a 9 on deck 2, to a 6 on deck 6 all the way aft. :yay:

HI!:) Great to know someone is still checking this. We are in #6323 (forward) and Anna is 8 years old. Thanks for asking. :littleangel: This will be our second cruise, so you could certainly give us good advice. :teacher: How do you upgrade? Do they call you and offer or do you call them and ask? :confused3 We actually asked for this room so we could be close to the kids area. Hubby spends a lot of time in there with our daughter.:love2: We do as much as we can as a family. :dance3: We are celebrating our 10 year anniversary.:cake: We are eating at the second seating. Hope to see you on the cruise. Patricia :)

Hello - I teach 3rd grade - so I'm VERY familiar with 8 year olds! At the time we booked, we couldn't afford the verandah. We only booked mid May, and so the total was due at the time of booking. I had been checking the availabilty to upgrade, and we were planning to do so at the port if possible. I was getting really worried that nothing would be there - the other day, I called Disney and was told there was no availability. I then checked my travel agency's website and saw they still had balconys available. That's when I called her and found out the price. It was only about $300 for the two of us (total). I couldn't believe it - that's what I had in my mind for the total I would pay at the port. I immediately told her to book it. In my past 7 cruises, I was given a free upgrade at the port from a 6 to a 4 one time, and once they called me to offer me 2 cat 6 for the 1 cat 6 that we had. We couldn't believe our luck that time. Somebody special must have REALLY wanted that other room. :confused3 We are also second seating - Just look for a couple in their 50's, with no kids.:lovestruc

Hi, Wow, we have a lot in common! I am also a teacher, in Duval County for 23 years now. :teacher: Anna is going into 3rd. She loves school. We booked in May also and had to pay it all then. I went to one travel agent and NEVER got a call back from her, only their junk e-mails, so I didn't try it again. Can't wait to meet you. :-)

Oh, my goodness! We live in Palm Beach County - I've been teaching a total of 28 years - took time off from full time teaching to raise my own children (now 25 and 21) and substituted during that time. I've been back full time for 6 years. My travel agent is the mother of a friend of mine - I've been "teaching" her about DCL. Thank goodness I did book through her as far as the upgrade situation. You'll have to let me know what Anna will be wearing to the port - I'll surprise her with a little something. :flower3:

You are the sweetest! :littleangel: I haven't figured it out yet, I need to get busy on packing instead of looking on here all the time..:rolleyes1 I'll figure it out and let you know. :scratchin We try to match and I have purchased several new outfits for the cruise. :cheer2: Now I just have to narrow it down. :laundy: We had family matching on the first cruise, but wasn't able to get Daddy same stuff this time. Can't wait to meet you. I'm sure we could talk forever about school, but I will try to not drive my poor hubby crazy with it. He has heard it for 12 years now. We can't go anywhere without seeing students, families, colleagues, former students, strangers that we instantly bond, etc.:rotfl2: A quick trip anywhere is never quick. :chat:

This is my first visit to the threads - WOW, lots of good information. I am hoping there are some 16 yo girls on this trip for our DD. We cruised on Princess for New Years and she was pretty lonely. DH is going to force her to go to the teen area immediately but I am not sure that's the best way for her to meet a friend to hang out with. Social navigation in a new setting at her age is complicated to say the least. Our 6 yo DD makes a friend every time we go to the grocery store!! Any suggestions?

We are excited about sailing on the Wonder! Can't believe it's almost time!

This is our first Disney cruise too! I just signed up for DIS and got educated on fish extenders. It seems fun (although my hubby is paranoid about putting our cabin # and kids' info out for the world). I'm making note of the cabin #s of the 2 families are interested so far. We'll probably drop a goody off and maybe can convince my hubby to officially do it next time...

It's almost time!!! Yeah!

I tried to add us to the list but it wouldn't let me. Can you add us. Pretty please? :-) Wondermom1965, #6323, DH-Frank, DW-Patricia, DD-Anna-age-8 We will be bringing goodies and looking for FE's around just in case, since not many people signed up. We are also bringing some trinkets to hand out to Anna's friends in the kids areas, like Silly Bands :-) Thanks a bunch. Can't wait to meet you guys. We'll meet @ 3 at the Prom. if you want :-) See you all Very Soon!!!!:yay::woohoo::cool1: We will be wearing big floppy :cruise" hats, you can't miss us. :rotfl2: It sure is fun to have a little one around.

Below is a link to the format we used last time to track who was interested. I can fill it in if you have trouble or you can fill it in and update. Wow, almost time to go!

If you want to just put your cabin # down and put out a FE, you don't have to list the kids. I will bring items suitable for all and perhaps that will thrill the kdis and convince your hubby?

Alas, my 13 year old son, who will talk your ear off if you let him, will not even check out the teen club; it's almost as if they had found a toxic substance there or something. I had hoped at the meet and greet last time he would meet someone, but the children were all much younger. Good luck and if you crack the code, let me know...

Sorry you couldn't update. I tried to duplicate what the coordinator on our last trip did, but I must have missed a step. I looked at some of the other cruise posts, and they just have it listed, so let's go with that unless I figure out the handy-dandy spreadsheet.

Everyone else please feel free to add your family!

FE Participants:

I second that, I will bring goodies for your family too :woohoo: if you put a FE out and tell us which room # you are in so we can fill it. You don't have to tell the kids ages. :littleangel: Also, if you guys trade Disney Pins, they do trading at 7:15 p.m. with the officers, etc. My daughter really got into it on our last cruise, so I had to buy a bunch of pins for her to trade. :scared1: :woohoo: See you all in a couple days!!! :cheer2:

Amy, What kind of things are Zach into? I have no clue what a 13 year old boy likes?! :-)

I think it's the fun of having something in the FE -- that's the best thing -- doesn't matter what it is. He got little pirate things and glow sticks and a game card and candy last time and each time he got something he was very happy. He really liked the bookmark that had the cruise details on it that someone made on the last cruise, which sounds odd, but he was reading a book and it came in handy asap. For those I couldn't figure out last time, I gave candy!

Great, we got pirate stuff, silly bands, glow sticks, candy, etc. This will be our first FE, so we are so excited! I know it will probably just be a few of us. When should we put the things in, morning, evening? We are second seating. Does Zach pin trade? :-)

I have had so much fun researching FEs that we would like to officially participate (hubby will just have to get with the program)! My parents are taking me and my brother's families so there's 6 adults and 3 kids separted into 3 rooms (they should be right next to each other). Please don't feel you need to give the adults anything. There's 2 adults and 1 kid in each room. I do not have the patience to make an FE from scratch so at Wal-Mart I found these Locker Compartment pocket things for $1.50. I'm personalizing one for each kid so there will be an FE outside each of their doors. They will be so thrilled to see surprises and my youngest was having fun shopping for others.

dcrocks6 (aka Melodie) #7627 (Isaac-8), #7629 (Eli-6), #7625 (Jada-7)
Please note that Eli is allergic to NUTS.

Hopefully my sons and niece will see Ana in the Oceaneer Club/Lab. Just 5 days away....

Yeah! :cheer2: Glad you are joining us! :woohoo: Cute Idea with the locker pockets, can't wait to see it them. :) How funny, we stayed in cabin #7623 last time, close to where you are this time. :cutie: We will have some goodies for the kids. The kids zone is sooo much fun, they are gonna have a blast.:yay: And what nice parents you have! See you in a few days! :dance3: pirate: :yay: :woohoo:

Finally have all of our things packed up! Its been fun gathering things for the FEs, kinda feels like Christmas. We're headed toward Disney tomorrow! First time to take the kids to Magic Kingdom and first time I've been as an adult. Its going to be interesting traveling with 9 people! I may not be able to officially meet you all at the promenade but hopefully we'll run into each other somehow. I probably won't post again. Hope all of your packing and travels goes well!
