We love Strictly but will be turning over quick to watch X factor. I'm not bothered which boy wins as both are good. Stacey's a bit too much like the last 2 winners for my liking!

My thoughts are with you too at this sad time. Take care of yourself XXXXX

Viccie

I am so happy for Joe who won the XFactor and I taped strictly dance, have not watch it yet maybe tonight....

Scottishwee35,

I love your pictures especially of the castle at night, the sky is beautiful. One day I would love to spend some time travelling the UK.

We got our Christmas tree up on the weekend, it looks like Christmas now, only 1 more present left to buy. I think next weekend we will spend making cookies, the girls are very creative decorating them and it takes a long time.

We made it back from the Virgin Islands on Sunday. We had an awesome trip full of activities. Scuba diving (HMS Rhone was beautiful), snorkeling, day sailing, hiking, etc. St. John was drop dead gorgeous. Trunk Bay looked just like a postcard. Tortola and Jost Van **** were also very pretty. Nothing like a cold beer at the Soggy Dollar Bar. St. Thomas was our least favorite island because it was so busy and crowded. We should have been vacationing here along time ago. I will attempt to post some pictures later in the week.

We were on Tortola the same day as the Magic was visiting, but we missed seeing her because we were diving.

Were you on St Thomas when the Oasis was there I think it was Dec 8? They were saying that 6 ships were in port with over 20,000 people that would be crazy. Sounds like you had a great trip, and I would love to see pictures. How did you get between all the islands, is there ferry boatas that go between them.

Did you get the letter from DCL regarding the early booking credit? I guess other people have been getting them , but none of the regulars here are from the States . I know know mail from the States takes ages to get to Canada, so I am hoping you may have gotten it as it will be ages before I get one. It would be great to get $100 per person on board credit.

We were in the islands during the same time period as the Oasis, but we missed seeing that ship and the Magic. The people on St. Thomas said it was crazy when the ship docked there. WAY TOO many people in town. The locals ran!!! They also said the Oasis is not necessarily the prettest ship because of the size. I got the impression the amount of people overwhelmed the local town.

We used the ferry system many times to travel between the islands. The cost is relatively low. St. Thomas to St. John was $6.00 per person. Traveling to Tortola was higher, but over to Jost Van **** was cheap. The ferries are large and fun to ride on the top deck to take in the sights. You can see one island to the other, short distances inbetween.

I have not received anything from DCL, but I will ckeck with my Mom who had made our reservations for each of our cruises. She may have received it. I was hoping to find the shore excursion section completed this week, but no changes.

I guess the islands are close together. What island were you staying on? Have you scuba dived for long? I have never done it, but have done a a fair amount of snorkeling in Hawaii and I am always amazed at the life under the ocean. Do you think you will do any diving on this trip It sounds like there are some nice beaches around Lisbon.

I will keep my fingers crossed that you are able to get a refund from your credit card.

I thought about airlines going under when I was looking at airfare as any of the airlines could go under. I was glad when I was able to get a good deal on Air Canada. They have been in bankruptcy twice I think, I cannot imagine that the Canadian goverment would not bail them out in some form if necessary.

We stayed on St. John first, renting a two bedroom cottage in town with a nice view of the water. Then we ferried over to Tortola and stayed in a beach resort. From Tortola we did day trips to Jost, Norman, and the Indians. We did not make it to Virgin Gorda...Next time. We stayed the final night on St. Thomas in the heart of the city. Noisey and different atmosphere!

My husband and I have been scuba diving since 1991 and have over 500 dives each. We also love to snorkle and did a lot of that on this trip. We have been to Hawaii diving, nice islands.

My Mom and I are traveling together on the cruise next summer. She does not enjoy water sports, so we will concentrate on sight-seeing, shopping, EATING, and tasting wines. I have the best of both worlds. TOTAL adventure travel with Kurt and leisure fun GIRL style traveling with my Mom. I great mix of vacations. Kurt also has the chance to travel with the guys on fishing trips, so it evens out.

Hope your weather is not too cold yet....

Hope you get your flights fixed. We booked on Delta because they seem stable. We looked at US Airline, but there were rumors that they were going to cancel all their international flights.

I would call right away for the refund. Good Luck

Fingers and toes crossed for you. :grouphug:
Your credit card company should give you a refund. I hope you can ge another flight back home. Someone was discussing flights from Barcelona on the main forum. They were travelling to Edinburgh. I'll try to find the link as I can't remember th company they were using.

You can't help but feel for their staff. Someone on BBC was saying it was to do with a cash flow problems because of the company that deals with their web sales????

BA have got a court injunction or something because they say there were balloting irregularities.

I still haven't booked any flights. My fridge broke on Monday so thats extra expense I wasn't planning on before Christmas. Hoping for a jet 2 sale in January!

Take care of yourself

Sounds like a wonderful trip, I just love exploring the islands, really anywhere new.

It is way too cold here today, I have been freezing all day, have 3 sweaters on and still can not get warm.

Luckily when I picked up the girls they did not want to stay and slide down the icy hill ,the wind was bitter and it was even too cold for them. At least we still have snow, hopefully it will last till Christmas.

Oh dear about your fridge as my friend's fridge broken this week too

I did phoned CC company again today and they asked me lots of question and told me to wait as they need to contact Flyglobespan administration but I heard that I unlikely to get the refund..

Because Flyglobespan own 36 half million pounds:sad2::sad2:

I don't know what to do whether looking around for another flight or leave it until later...

BA strike is off now..

I feel that I don't trust any airline now...

I am suprised about the CC refund. The news was saying that a CC holding firm had withheld some of their payments to Globespand even though customers had already flown and that was a large contributing factor to their demise. We have had issues with things in the past with a cc and a firm that went into recievership and we recieved a full refund. May be this differs from company to company?:confused3 There again this may b a standard response to try to get people not to chase their money???? I would keep trying and contact Citizens Advice if you didn't get any joy. If the company is in recievership then you can contact the people acting as recievers. Price Water House. I definately wouldn't give up!

Hope you get some joy soon!

Yes, I was thinking to go to CAB (Citizens Advice) for help but the CC company said they will phone me so I wait and see next week if I don't heard by Wed, oh difficult times as it is Xmas period, maybe I wait after Xmas then start to do it...

To be honest, I want to put it behind now as Xmas period so busy now and busy with work too... But back of my head - a bit disappointed about it...

M&S want me to work Xmas Eve, I said no *** no babysitting but I have to work longer hour on Tuesday. I will be free Wed to Sunday for Xmas...

You know M&S Foods will be very very busy next week:eek:

We had snow yesterday and its frozen overnight. Main roads are ok but side roads and paths are treacherous!

Went to M& S foods last night and picked up some goodies. Put them in the freezer so I don't have to go in the week. It'll be a bun fight for sure. I don't envy you working there!

It sounds like the CC company are trying to keep you informed. Hopefully the news will be different when they ring you! :tinker: Fingers crossed.

I hope everyone has a very Happy Holiday and wish you all the best for 2010.
