For me Im really proud of my dogs. I have worked hard training them and its great to see them go out and compete in a team with others. You can tell from looking at them they enjoy it.

Also I got my certificate in the post this morning - I achieved grade 2 @ my Spanish class. Looking on the back, it states that those who attain grade 2
can "can answer simple questions and give basic information along with stating some likes and dislikes But after 1 glass of wine will I be able to remember any of it?

Whilst we are asking questions - Who is your favourite Disney Character?
I love Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore equally.

Recent proud accomplishments: I guess it would be my dogs too. I compete in agility and in the last year, my boy and I have come together as a team. He understands his responsibilities and I understand his needs so that we can be a team.

Ok, I contacted my source regarding the lanyards and payment and this is what he said:

"This is how I've done it for the 4 cruises that I've been incharge of the name badges and lanyards:

I get a group of 10 or 12 cruisers to pay the bill (I'm one of the 10 or 12). I estimate how many lanyards I need, purchase the lanyards and name badge holders, then divide the total cost equally to the "lanyard team" members. It usually cost between 40 and 60 dollars each depending on the number of lanyards and the number of "Lanyard Team" members.

We then give the lanyards away onboard, as gifts, to those people who have signed up on our cruise list. If your not on the list, you don't get a lanyard. The left over lanyards go to the team members to do with as they see fit (they usually give them to cruise staff as gifts).

We have done it this way because we don't want to have to: 1. collect money from everyone, 2. take input from everyone, 3. but we do like having a surprise gift for everyone on the first day (I don't let anyone see the finished product, except for the team members, until sailaway day).

That's how I've done it. It has worked well so far. I've never had a problem finding Team Members willing to participate in the cost. I also give credit to the Team Members on the back of the name badges - Lanyards and Name Badges Provided By: ..."

What do you all think? How many do we have on our list? Anyone game? Anyone interested? Do we have at least 100 people? I'm guessing we do when you include party members. Ok here is the chart to get started on designing a meal plan that works for you:

So the calorie plan breaks down the different types of carbs into servings of starch, fruit, milk and veggies. The food pyramid shows the servings size.

If you are say in the 2000 calorie range, you need 17 servings of carbs made up of 9 servings of starch, 4 servings of fruit, 3 servings of milk, 3 servings of vegetables; and 6 servings of meat, 5 servings of fats and sweets.

We are going away today, (if Dave gets back from buisness on time) as we are competing tomorrow (flyball). Im really looking forward to going esp since Floss did so well @ her first competition.

It has taken a year of weekly physio, acupuncture and hydrotherapy to get me mobile again.

Wow - I feel for you - I thought this was something that happened just recently - I'm so sorry you'd had to deal with this pain for so long - I dealt with gallstones for over a year and that was painful - don't know what I would have done with lower back pain! Ouch! Please be careful!

Ok, we just had a nutritionist give a talk here at work today. Some tips on diets:


* Low proteins could be giving you migraines. Not sure if its the iron or the protein that is actually doing this.

* Pre-diabetic. your are headed that way (along with cardio and Alheimzer) if you have high blood pressure, wear your weight in the middle and overweight.

As for my FAVORITE DISNEY CHARACTER? I seem to like the female villians especially Ursula idea: - hmmmm, wonder why? ) OH OH OH OH - and how could I forget her - my especially favoritest laughing: is that even a word? ) The Queen of Hearts ---- "Off with their Heads!"

Ok for those that compete with dogs - How in the world do you get started? I have 2 female Siberian Huskies - one extremely agile and intelligent and quick to learn and pick up. She is always hungry for exercise and cant get enough - even on the bike when we run her. She is quick to pick up and obstacle courses sounds like a good way to engage her mind. She picked up on poochie bells (ringing them when she wants to be let out) in about 1/2 hr of DH showing her how to use them.

My other one - well we have a saying - she was definitely bred for looks and not brain - while not dumb - she is more sweetheart and love than a thinker and is content to follow - upon confrontation - she runs the other way.

My DD 14 set up a mini obstacle course in my video room and my Isis picked up jumping and walking the 'plank' after just a few showings - I thought this was neat until I realized she was walking all over my coffee tables, arm chairs and landing on my pillows. Then I wasn't so happy. LOL

We saw a mini obstacle set up in Petsmart one time but of course when we went back to buy it - it wasn't there. Any idea where I may be able to get something like this or how you all got started?

Do to the fact that the dogs are runners - I can never let them off the hook in an unfenced area like the beach but in the back yard or in a fenced in area - that's another story. They will be 3 yrs old on October 15 and 30th.

I think its always best to train with a club. Do you have any in your area that offer trial periods. Also have you ever done any basic obedience before ?
Individually my dogs are great, but when they are together, boy they act up and get so jealous of each other - they are like spoilt children

DO you have any photos of your dogs? Dave really really really wants an Alaskan Malumute - but I'm afraid I've put my foot down - 3's enough. and besides I would love to breed from Floss and I would of course have to keep one of her puppies

We have plenty of time. I called the company and they were very happy to hear that our cruise isn't until July. So if there is enough interest (I need a minimum of 100 lanyards), then lets talk about what we want printed on them. We could just go with the badge reel if people want that instead. It has a belt clip. Ok so far I have the following interest:

Actually, this picture is the same picture that came on the CD that DCL sent out after the panama canal cruise. did you not get one? the CD had alot of neat pictures including one aerial view of Castaway Cay.

Agreed, find a club in your area and find someone in the club to mentor and sponsor you. that way you have someone to ask questions and show you the ropes. Go to a competition and see what its all about, volunteer to work for half a day and immerse yourself in it and see if this is what you want to start investing $$$ in. This can be another expensive hobby or a recreational pasttime.

For the dogs, as long as they are physically in shape and not overweight, they should do well in agility. Agility is tough on the joints, so the dogs need good muscle support. If they have bad hips or elbows, then you need to be conscious of that and not jump them too high or do things that could make things worse. If you haven't got a good recall, sit and stay on the dogs, then you are better off going to a foundation or obediance class first to get this. Agility is pretty stimulating and you need to be able to control your dog for their and others safety.

For agility equipment, you have two choices: buy it or make it. Search the web for agility equipment. You can find plans to make it or you can buy it.

Lanyards question: It's been a while since we've been on a DCL trip, but is there a reason we need the retractable option? Just interesting to me since I order promo items occasionally as part of my job.
