Hi all - ok - finally got on and soon it'll be time to get off. OK -here's the lowdown:
I am - OK - will be 41 on the ship. (July 23). For the last 14 years I have been overweight- tried various ways of losing weight from Nutri-system, Weight Watchers and even working out. I am currently (

and

ok here goes people - I figure I must be truthful in order to get this to work right - so GULP - here goes - I am
183 lbs
I have been working out for 3 weeks and managed to lose and gain back the same 1 lb. I am now
182 lbs but am having trouble losing weight - I have however managed to lose weight in my face and 1 1/4 inches in my hips. I am closer to 5'4" than 5' 3 3/4 inches so that's what I say - I'm 5'4" tall. LOL - I weighed in today and my measurements were screwed up 3 weeks ago so I had to start all over again. However, I can tell that while I didn't lose weight I have started to re-arrange - which is really what I would dearly love. I have increased my stamina and am slowly making changes in my lifestyle which I hope to make permanent.
My mistake in the past was to think that I could do this alone - I am notoriously a loner and while charming, witty and loveable

rotfl:

) here - I am notoriously shy in person) here on the DIS - I am however, also working on that. I love to type and as you can tell - I can go on forever. So sorry! OK - I started out not being able to do anything other than walk on a treadmill - had been doing that for years but to no avail. Then I was forced to go on the stairmaster - and while I hated it at first - have slowly started to realize - this is burning more calories than the walking. I started out being able to do only 5 minutes at a time -I would stop and get back on. I am now up to 35 - 40 minutes mostly at level 3 but occasionally going down to 2 and 1 as a warm-up and cool-down. My trainer would like for me to alternate between the stairmaster and the elliptical machine. I haven't tried that one yet. I am showing early signs of arthritis ( well ok - not that early

) so I must be careful with weights as I work out in the morning and I am not at all a mornig person.
In the eternal words of Gloria Gaynor - I love the nightlife (

) and suffer from insomnia since forever. I have noticed a difference in my stamina and having starting to reap the rewards as people are noticing - and remember - I haven't really lost any weight - plus my doggies are loving me as I take them for a walk on my non-gym days - 1/2 hr walk 3-4 times a week. I still struggle with increasing my water intake but I'm working on that. Yesterday was the first time since I was 5 that I had oatmeal for a meal ( YUCK

) but guess what? I was able to tolerate it. Oh yeah, I am learning to eat breakfast within 1 hr of getting up. I am slowly integrating these changes in the hopes that they stick forever. I am modifying my way of thinking and realize that while I may not be able to stick to my word myself, having to report or talk with others about my struggles - I find my inner strength. And whatever doesn't kill you - will make you stronger.
Ok warned you all that I can write - that's about it for now - I intend to increase my cardio to some type of activity for 5 days a week in the hopes that I can fit into my white Grecian-type formal dress in July - I love the color white! However, white doesn't like me - I tend to dirty it.
If anyone would like to hear what my trainer recommends - let me know - if I can save you any $$ - I'm all for that. I am a member of 24 hr Fitness and have been for 3 years but not always an actively going member until DD 14 started showing great signs and shamed me to the core. Hence the big move to lose or at least tone up. Remember folks the price of a trainer out here in CA is now about $65 a session and that's only if you buy in packs of 10, 20 or 30. Our trainer is a master trainer and so I am paying the price. If I can help anyone out - just let me know. We can be there for each other. Take care for now. Oh yeah - Tuesdays and Thursdays are my morning workout session and in the afternoon I do cardio while DD14 does her cardio. I'm so proud of her - she really has been working hard for about 2 1/2 months now and it shows. I HOWEVER do not think it fair - how she loses weight just by thinking about it- if I could do that - I would be non-existent already -

.
OK that's my story - anyone else game? Type on!
