Where near Chicago are you??? We are down in Peoria, but have family downtown, Rockford, and Naperville. Welcome aboard! We are a family of 5 too!!!!

Thanks for the welcome. Tif, we are located in Lemont, IL (not far from Naperville) and my DF and DM are located in Darien, IL. What a coincidence that you are from Peoria, because my DH and I are going there this weekend. He will die if he knows I'm posting this, but he is accompanying me to the American Idols tour at the Peoria Civic Center Not a top choice for him, but I want to see Taylor Hicks perform and he has graciously agreed to go. It will be nice to get away for a couple days.

Hey Lynn and everyone! First I have to book my airfare in about two weeks. Someone had some great links on the All Med sailings thread. I was going to start going through those for excursion ideas.

Apparently at each port, there are things to see which are unique to the area. Another place I was going to look was the other lines who go to the same ports for excursion ideas. We're less than a year away!!!

Last year we sailed out of southampton aboard legends of the seas for a 14 nights med cruise,great ship,great trips until we got to Barcelona and Rome,thiefs are EVERYWHERE.A old gentleman who stopped to watch a street show on the Las Ramblas had a very lucky escape and but it not for a very sharp eyed young lad tugging on his Ex british army dads trousers the old gent would have lost his wallet.The lad got £20 ($37) off the old man as a thank you and the dad got a grilling of the local police as to why the thief had a broken collar bone and had it not been for a local flower seller coming to his defence he'd still Probable be there.Rome is great but again you must take care of your valuables as pick-pockets out number visiters at the Trevi Fountain.
Civitavecchia the port is about 45m minutes out of rome by rail,kids under 10 travel free,trains every 30 minutes if you wish to make your own way...Sorry if ive upset anyone with these comments.

I know what you mean - After doing 4 disney cruises I think I am spoiled and not sure how another cruise line could compare.

we booked a few days ago while we were on board the 8/19 special western. even with the wait, the 10% off made it about the same when the dates were released. $200 room credit didn't hurt either. will be transferring to dreams for an extra $150. nervous on what airfares might be. we had disney include them (~$1400 each) for the four of us. hoping to find something better. would hate to get a double connection or worse.
looking forward to the med.
did anyone see MV Photon's post about private tours? very informative, and if a few groups don't mind grouping together, the price would be a little less outrageous.

When I've checked for my air, it's still a little too early, however, from our area it looks like I can get a direct flight from around 1,000 pp.

i saw us airways has a direct from philly. that may be what we go with. nyc is a little too far.

Contitnental has thier fares out for next summer. Direct from Newark is 1263pp. leaving July 27 and returning Aug. 8. I've called some other airlines- fares will be out in a few days. I've found not too many go non-stop.
