We always go to topsiders. dave likes to be outside - Iam usually so thrilled that im on the ship at this point I dont care

Last year was great - the Cm's were diredcting everyone to Parrott Cay but we went straight up to deck 9. I made spa reservations and then we were the only ones at topsiders.

Hey Andrew - if your out there - where are you staying at? I am looking to book my precruise stay for the repo. The hotel I wanted to stay at is booked and remembered you saying that your hotel was pretty central. I found one tha might work and seems central but I lost it now. I'm using Ex..... dot com and can't find the hotel again. Oh well, if you can - let me know - I think you said that its also close to HRC so that may work for me - just a solo traveler but many have friends booking at the same hotel.

I am staying at a four star- Eurostars Hotel Crystal Palace very central.

Last week, we completed a 11 day Mediterranean cruise.

I was looking forward to the Castaway Club reception; I was looking for the announcement on the Navigator for such information. Somehow, there was a mixup in the invitation information being conveyed to me - so I did not make the reception.

I found out later that the reception is NOT listed as an announcement in the "Navigator" - it is only listed there in the timetable of daily events. I also found out that the customer service representatives do not automatically readily have a recollection of this information; nor is the information read lily accessible to them on their computers.

FYI:

for 11 day cruises - second sea day at 1 PM
for 10 day cruises - at 5 PM, at the Olbia, Sardinia port of call.

The reception is held in the Beat Street area.

So if we don't get an invite, ask or check the Navigator timetable.

Just wondered if anyone remembers what they have read about the embarkation process.

Do we board on deck 1?

When do they announce you?

Dave gets very embarrassed about this - mainly because they have trouble pronouncing our surname.

I am hoping to visit guest services as soon as we board.

I think its a lower deck but not one, IN LA we went in on deck 2,

Last year in 2006 they missed out the family name announcement.

They always get Stephens name wrong.

Yes they direct you to PC, I prefer Topsiders.

I prefer Parrot Cay, On our first cruise we went to topsiders and it was CHAOS. Very crowded and difficult to find a seat, we had our carryon bags and there wasn't enough room for them. It was actually stressful.

On the second cruise we went to Parrot Cay, were shown to our seat next to a large porthole. We were able to leave our carryon bags at the table where there was lots of room. We enjoyed the lunch very much and were quite relaxed at the end of lunch. We found it a much better way to go. But everyone has different likes and dislikes etc... This is just what works better for us.

No, there were plenty of tourists and the pictures of Palermo & Pompei are on a Disney tour. I just selectively try to shoot where they are not (or where they are obstructed by things like columns).

Has anyone had problems accessing their reservation on the DCL website today.

I get logged on, but When I try to retrieve my reservation, I put my details inthen I get the fishes swimming then it comes back to the bit where you put in your res no. and dob. Its like on a loop!

I do agree with getting lost, at Topsides, on the 2005 repo, we were in the buffett line all four of us in a row, someone jumped in between DW/DD and me and DS, to get a soda or two, by the time he went DW/DD had gone and we walked around for 45 mins until we could find them.

That man started my holiday off so well!

I saw this too and wrote it down as the second sea day (between Roma and Firenze -- Aug 3) . . . we will obviously have to re-check onboard since it seems people are not getting invites.

Helen, I read somewhere that because of the different set up in Barca, you are taken in an elevator up to deck nine, and announced there (and appear on the Jumbotron).

Last year was great - the Cm's were diredcting everyone to Parrott Cay but we went straight up to deck 9. I made spa reservations and then we were the only ones at topsiders.

We usually board early and go to Parrot Cay as directed, but I can't see it making a difference as long as we are on the ship! This time will definitely be a different experience -- we will go to La Sagrada Familia in the morning, so may not make it to the port until 12 or so, and then plan to get back off the ship after lunch (if the weather is good) and go to the beach at Barceloneta . . .

I've had no luck at all getting into the DCL site today Helen. I hope it's not my booking that's mucked it up as when I was on the phone to them yesterday they said that there were "issues" with the website and that they were going to be "looking into it today"
