I saw this too and wrote it down as the second sea day (between Roma and Firenze -- Aug 3) . . . we will obviously have to re-check onboard since it seems people are not getting invites.
I also understood it to be on Friday, 8/3, after Rome.

I've had no luck at all getting into the DCL site today Helen. I hope it's not my booking that's mucked it up as when I was on the phone to them yesterday they said that there were "issues" with the website and that they were going to be "looking into it today"![]()

I can't get in either. It's quite bothersome that they can't keep the website up and running. THey must have loads of engineers around to fix these problems.
Here is the link to a thread about Fish Extenders.

PS
Thanks Julie it was much easier than I thought.

Where do you like to eat lunch on the first day
Parrot Cay or topsiders?
We always go to topsiders. dave likes to be outside - Iam usually so thrilled that im on the ship at this point I dont care![]()
Last year was great - the Cm's were diredcting everyone to Parrott Cay but we went straight up to deck 9. I made spa reservations and then we were the only ones at topsiders.

Not sure where we'll eat - got on late for our first cruise, wasn't an issue. Glad that you're a mess cleaner upper and not a mess maker!!I ususally eat at Topsiders, but since they are moving people directly up to 9 for the announcement, Parrot Cay is more likely to be empty. I've never eaten there after boarding - is it a buffet also?
Actually, if it's a typical scenario it went more like this:
- Disney hired an outside firm to build the site....
- The firm went way over budget
- Either the original developers have left or Disney fired them and hired a different firm or hired in-house people.
- The new people looked at the original software and realized it's poorly designed and built garbage.
- The current team is somehow keeping it limping along at very high cost until someone figures out what they want to do about the situation, or can come up with a budget to fix it - or - the current management is so embarassed about the situation they won't admit to upper management that they need $100's of thousands more to rebuild the thing from scratch.
Ok, I'm just speculating here. But that's how most web application projects work. I know, because I'm usually one of the new people who comes in to clean up the mess![]()

Andrew I thought that at first too, then I read it as the Second seaday meaning the Friday?
What does anyone think???![]()
I think its a lower deck but not one, IN LA we went in on deck 2,
Last year in 2006 they missed out the family name announcement.
They always get Stephens name wrong.
Helen, I read somewhere that because of the different set up in Barca, you are taken in an elevator up to deck nine, and announced there (and appear on the Jumbotron).
This sounds just like our experience at Topsiders, Sandra. I think I would like to avoid the business of Topsiders, if we can.I prefer Parrot Cay, On our first cruise we went to topsiders and it was CHAOS. Very crowded and difficult to find a seat, we had our carryon bags and there wasn't enough room for them. It was actually stressful.
On the second cruise we went to Parrot Cay, were shown to our seat next to a large porthole. We were able to leave our carryon bags at the table where there was lots of room. We enjoyed the lunch very much and were quite relaxed at the end of lunch. We found it a much better way to go. But everyone has different likes and dislikes etc... This is just what works better for us.

I agree, I plan to buy for the week, due to it selling out! We've never done this either - we did try to get tickets once but it was sold out.
I am planning on going to Guest services when we board.![]()
Don't tell Dave! I read on a blog that they take you up to Deck 9 and you are announced on the large screen up there!Just wondered if anyone remembers what they have read about the embarkation process.
Do we board on deck 1?
When do they announce you?
Dave gets very embarrassed about this - mainly because they have trouble pronouncing our surname.
I am hoping to visit guest services as soon as we board.![]()
I usually like to go to Parrot Cay, it's more relaxing (they serve you instead of a buffet.) After a day of travel, I like to relax alittle! Usually, the later you arrive the more likely that you will go to Topsiders.Where do you like to eat lunch on the first day

This is exactly why I prefer PC, however, it may depend upon when you arrive as to how crowded TS is?I prefer Parrot Cay, On our first cruise we went to topsiders and it was CHAOS. Wow, you're nuts!!I have been popping in and out on this board, lurking more than anything, but I had to share this with you all. Here we are, about 3 weeks out from the cruise and on my way into work today I was involved in a minor car crash. No injuries, thank God, but the other driver jumped out of his car and stormed back to my car. I jumped out and noticed that he was a dwarf. He looked up at me ( I am 6' 4"), and angrily said "I'm not happy!" To which I replied . . . . . . .
"Then which one are you, Grumpy?"
[Note: this is a joke -- it did not actually happen, but when I heard it, I had to share it. Back to your regular programming.

Actually, now that you mentioned it, it is a buffet! But there is more table service than at Topsiders, they usually serve you your drinks and for me, it's a little more relaxing!
