The website shows the Ashore and Onboard times but not the actual time it arrives in port.
Sandra
Ah, I see that - well, I'm no help, sorry!

I love it when Andy posts with his American accent!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
hee hee:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

.

mmm I can just taste the scallops wrapped in Bacon from the brunch.
Oh, that sounds super yummy! I'm so excited for Palo - DH didn't even want to do it, I had to pull rank on that one!

Welcome to the DIS & Welcome to our Cruse!!! We're glad you joined our cruise board! A lot of us have been chatting and chatting (some longer than others), but there is still time to get caught up, join in the fun, learn some things, and share a little about yourselves... :goodvibes

You probably have figured that we've selected a theme for our cruise:
ROME-ancing the Mouse

Here is a summary of things we've discussed (most assuredly incomplete, but here goes)

Lime green: Official color of the DIS. People use ribbons, Mickey paint chips (Home Depot), t-shirts, etc., in lime green to recognize each other (this is done at parks and cruises

Recommendations:
* Lime green ribbons: Put lime green ribbons or have something lime green during Cruise and at meets prior to cruise (AnnaS - Anna)
* Glow necklaces: Preferred color lime green, however, any color would work - to wear when we meet Friday night and when we go to the Sailaway Party on Saturday night . (salliep - Sallie)
* Local gift bag worth $15-$20 with something from your area - to be exchanged at DIS meet (one per DISer/Family)... If you just want to come to the meet and not exchange a grab bag - that is fine! The idea is for us to get together and meet each other, and develop that friendship that makes going on a cruise even more special
* Decorate doors with artwork, images, etc., that will make your stateroom unique. No tape, however, doors are metal, so magnetic sheets are fine. Eeyorelvr10 had idea to have a plastic sleeve protector & attach magnets to it, then just put your decorated sheet of paper in it. MrsJobba1 is going to laminate hers. Some have shared their creations on this thread.
* Fish extenders outside staterooms
* Small, nominal gifts for fish extenders (optional & gifts can be anything - just for fun)

Here are a couple of samples what a fish extender looks like. Some people have been able to find these at the local dollar store, some people are making them. I got a couple of 6" canvas bags that I'm going to attach one on top of the other & we'll decorate & hang from the fish outside the stateroom door. (Different, but I couldn't find anything like the pics below & I'm not very creative)

List of Pirates (Andrew the Pirate Keeper)
There are several posts with the list, but you can find a good list at post #8790
(btw: WMRegina gave me that weebles wobble tag - she would laugh at knowing that is my pirate name)
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1064311&page=586

Important components of the Packing List (Sandaneli - Sandra... made after weeks of ideas pouring out)

List of things to do:
*Make fish extender, buy fabric, figure out pattern actually sew
*Make door decoration, buy magnet, download pictures or "scrapbook" image somehow put image on magnet, test magnet with image attached
*Buy green glow necklaces
*Buy lime green ribbons to tie on clothes
*Buy extra TP to start rolling. Let's see 2 people times 6 shore visits = at least 12 rolls, then there is the supply for those not bringing or rolling
*Purchase/make or otherwise acquire hundreds of things for fish extender disboard gifts.
*Purchase extra luggage for said fish extender gifts
*Get part time job to pay for hundreds of fish extender gifts and overweight luggage charges.
*Purchase 2-4 white tshirts and iron on transfer sheets for printer to make 2 tshirts to wear on cruise to be identified by other dissers. (extra shirts are for mistakes)
*Make tshirts and then make them again when the first ones don't come out because I will have forgotten to reverse the printing. (I know me).
*Locate and purchase items of local interest for grab/swap at DisMeet.
*Print out family photos, coordinate with names and make booklet with names matched to faces so I don't totally blow it and call people by the wrong names.

Here are some documents that you might be useful:

Hopefully the attached lists & such are updated, if not, please post or send me a pm with your info, and I will add it.

Other Notes:
JoAnn, I mean, Captain Provider, will be providing TP rolls to those who sign up. I imagine her stateroom will look something like this when she unpacks:

And we'll be well prepared for any church, right?
mummy.jpg

(This actually reminds me of the time that I got the bright idea to dress my ds as a mummy for Halloween when he was in 3rd grade (I think). I wrapped him up in toilet paper, and when I ran out, I used paper towels. I'll never forget the image of him sitting in the car on the way to school with his arms sticking out (think of the little brother in his snow suit in the movie "A Christmas Story"), and then shaking his head and saying, "I'm not very happy," with tears in his eyes. OMGosh, I felt like such a terrible mommy!! I called work & told them we had a domestic issue I had to take care of, and then went to the store & bought a ton of gauze. I dressed him up, and of course, as the day wore on, the gauze was falling off -- he got the award at school for the best homemade costume. He ended up a happy little boy that day... but the image of him sitting in my car w/paper ripping everytime he moved... it's really funny ....... now)

These are some door signs I'm working on.
These are great - I hope I have time to work on some before we leave - big pressure though. The ones that have been posted so far are really excellent!!

Morning,
If you guessed it was still raining here, you'd be right. Personally, I think we're really part of the pre-media blitz for Evan Almighty and the Hollywood suits have seeded the clouds repeatedly.

WINE TASTINGS. We haven't done that before. But it looks fun. Do we need to sign up for it at a specific time or anything?

GOOD NEWS ... DW informs me that our online status for passports has finally updated from processing to being mailed. Should get them next week. Yahoo!

WELCOME to our new Disers. If all the info here seems intimidating, don't worry. There are so many posts it's difficult for any of us to keep up. Just ingest whatever you can. And have fun! This is a great group with tons of experience, insight and daily humor (MJ, that pic of Sistine Chapel is hilarious).

BROKEN RECORD -- If anyone (including new friends) is thinking about switching to Privates in Civatevechhia or La Szezia please PM me.

TALENT. I'm fortunate to work at a school w/outstanding performing arts programs. Here is a link to a story about one of our students with a Dis tie-in that we'll all experience in just a few weeks:

http://www.tulsaworld.com/entertainment/article.aspx?articleID=070627_7_A12_hHisa50257

WEEKEND. We take DDs to Dallas Sat to fly to grandparents. First flight w/out mom and dad:scared: . I'll also be looking online this weekend to purchase a new daypack and/or CamelbaK for trip. Or a rubber raft if it doesn't stop raining!

Okay, back to work.

Brian
Brian, what do you teach? I apologize in advance if you already told us. Great article - such talent!!

We havent done this for a while

OOOHHHHHHHHHH that's quite scary really

Somehow on embarkation day I will need everyone to reconfirm to me you are all going. We will find a way.

We are at 14!!!!!

Well more shopping for me...Josh rather reluctanly tried on a pair of shorts that were in the suitcase ready to go AND THEY ARE TOO SHORT :scared1: :scared1: He only wore them at Xmas he can't have grown that much in only 6 months !!!!

So the dilema is do I buy him some new ones (and t-shirts) from the Next website now... or do I risk it and wait until they start their sale, which should be very soon, and hope that they still have his size ???

Yes they grow fast DS is now at Scout camp for the weekend and its his first time away from the family.

Just out of curiousity, I checked the availability on our cruise. A few minutes ago it came up with:
3x category 9
Only GTY on category 10
2x category 11

Last minute cancellations perhaps? Or just a handful of available cabins that come in go in availability as people book, then realize they have to pay the entire amount immediately?

Josh was away for the first time on his own i.e not at a friend or family, on his school journey just a couple of weeks ago. I have to admit the house was stangely quiet that week and as he got off the bus, when he came home, I was struck but how much he'd seem to have grown up over those 5 days away.

How old is your son Andrew ?

Rather than late cancellations more last min bookings!

Can you purchase them, but not wash or take tags off and then if they go on sale, return them? Works if there is free shipping. Or some stores will credit if something goes on sale rather quickly. Just a thought.

Ahh, sibling love, tons of it at our house:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

I guess that's quite young for going away, Josh is 11 (just). I know that Ethan enjoyed himself whilst Josh was away, however when I asked him if he missed his brother he said "yes" and when I asked "why"
he said "I miss winding him up !!!!" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Now there's a sneaky thought...only a mother with growing kids would have thought of that one...I LOVE IT !!!

Ok so I'm going with buying the stuff now (well on Monday actually when I can get into a store around the corner from the office) and not removing any of the tags etc so if they go in the sale I can rebuy them at the lower price and return the full price ones ;) ;)

There is only a few weekends to buy stuff before I go, three now!

I've done it more than once. Depending on the store, if the sale is within a week or 2, they may just credit you the difference. Or, if it is more than a week or two, some stores require that they have the same sizes in stock. But, nothing stops you from doing a full return, taking a lap around the store and then rebuying what they just put back on the racks - hey, we do what we have to do, right!?!? Besides, the money you save may buy you a couple of those fruity rum drinks!!
