Is it as bad as I think ?:confused3

Its very good! Nice!:thumbsup2

I think you already cleaned with a pirate: !! Congratulations, JoAnn!

Question for Andrew?? By the time I get on the board, you are signing off--is it good to get an American Express Debit Card for Europe?

Harole Ann - A few places take American Express but is not that common here in Europe - Visa is the main credit card that and Maestro;)

On a side note - this always happens to me - we were coming back from lunch when we saw a warehouse sale on luggage. Anybody heard of the Ricardo's of Beverly Hills?

Well they have this awesome piece that I just saw in Sam's Club/Costco. It was a 12 # rolling suitcase with a built-in scale on it. It was about the size of a 26-in regular suitcase. Anyway, they were selling it for $110 +tax. They had it on sale for $60.

I got a 4 piece light pink set for $40. They were selling it for $60 this morning but as they were getting ready to close - they were dropping the prices. They also had a rolling duffel backpack which they were selling for $30. I didn't get that one but a couple of people in line did get them.

I bought 2 small rolling 'computer cases' in the brilliant color or red with a padded slot for the laptop and wider slot which may fit my camera and accessories. I've been looking for a combo suitcase roller thingy that might work and I believe this might if I can get past the 8" width on Iberia. This one is 10". I'm hoping that the travel agents don't notice especially if I have someone stand back and away. What do you all think?

Anyway, those pieces were $20 and then on the way out I found an elite computer style with 3 zippered slots and is a bit tougher. The problem with it? The zipper compartment which housed the retractable handle was sticky. Someone had returned it. Since all sales were final I asked - how much were they selling it for. The "guard" said - oh I think they were selling for $20 (keep in mind I'd just bought 2 red ones for $20. But the man then went on to say - but I think they can sell it for $15. I then kinda picked up on the fact that this may be the man to deal with. So I asked - how about for $10? His reponse? Elise - sell this item to this lady for $10! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Now, I can go and return about $250 dollars worth of suitcases to Marshall's!

Good thing Marshall's has a return policy! :)

Way to go. I love it when you can get a great deal.

Welcome back Penny.

What about my 19 yr. old? Are cargo shorts below the kneew okay? I don't want him to look/feel out of place. Perhaps I should also order him a pair of zip-off pants :confused3

My 9 year old is so short that his shorts go past the knee. But for DH and my oldest, I got them so board shorts. They are like swim trunks but longer. I thought if nothing else it was an option.

I'm falling behind, and I know this list is even more hectic now. I still have over 200 pages to ketchup on I think.

Ok quick update on yesterdays swim meet. Josh scored 3 PB's out of 5 races. As a bit of an incentive I give him £1 for every second of PB he gets at each meet....so last night cost me £8 of PB money. WTG Josh :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Congratulations Josh.

I really need this holiday - I know Andrew orderd the excursion kit has anyone else ordered anything?

I was thinking of ordering some stuff, but I am concerned about getting it home.

How and when are we getting the t shirts? I have a feeling that I may have missed something about this (and never did manage to go back and catch up after the cruise with my 10 year old). Neither I nor my girls will be wearing anything remotely lime green (sorry!) but we are usually easily recognizable since my oldest girl has red hair, the middle blonde, and the youngest is a brunette. I have said this before on the Dis and right in the terminal always have people come up and say "Are you bellelinus?"

I haven't been on the board in a while. But i am still working on the shirt. I wanted to get a quote from the shirt shop in town to see about doing them there. Or, we can just each take the word doc and print out our own shirt iron-on.

I am targetting around July 1st to get the final tags that we will use.

American express should be OK in the main but AE charge retailers over here a far higher fee than Mastercard/Visa and so a reasonable amount of shops do not take it.

Debit cards on Maestro and Cirrus in my opinion will be accepted nearly everywhere and far better coverage than AE.

Plus, is also available,

Ensure you have a PIN, as most of Europe requires it in shops as well as ATM's and have at least two cards to ensure if one stops you have a back up, security checks or being stolen is an issue.

Banks charge a fee sometimes to cash at ATM's but the exchange rate is good, far better than high street.

Credit cards Mastercard and Visa everywhere.

Sweet Dreams,:cloud9: Helen! See everyone later---the baseball fields are calling me!:car:

Thanks, Andrew!

No problem, I suggest at least two cards if not three, I aways use one for 'check in' etc as the Hotel seeks authorization in advance say $50 a night for your stay and that eats into your available balance, then put that card in the safe and use another, if Around Barcelona take one card only and small cash, lots of pickpockets so you only loose a little, don't flash the cash!

Don't look like a tourist, so cut the Disney or USA T-shirts until the cruise, use plain stuff so you do not stand out, really Barcelona and La Rambler is a pickpockets area.

Well, I guess you're all set now!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Helen.. The sign is really great- I love all the graphics- !!!!! Way to go!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I went to the beach today- but I will really join the cleaning brigade tomorrow. I can't even see the floor in the "junk room" otherwise known as the third bedroom.

Thank you for the update! I hope we can find a way to get them made, since iron ons never work quite as well . . . although they are better than nothing!

"Plane stuff" -- are those the clothes you wore on the plane, anti-tourist clothes they will give you on the plane, or clothes with the emblem of a plane on them?
