Re Talk on clothes and Vatican.

When we went to Rome on the 6-6 cruise, it was HOT!! And we all wore shorts for the morning excursions to the collesium, etc. We brought clothes and changed on the bus for the vatican!!! But this is a plus of having your own private tour where everyone knows everyone!!! I think they are ok with just having your knees covered, but we did experience being told people could not enter places because of dress!! For example, in Florence, one of the girls in our group had her shoulders exposed and she could not enter the duomo!!! So my thoughts, better safe than sorry, you never know what kind of day the person might be having that you might happen upon, and you do not want to give them any excuse to not let you in!!! With the crowds that we saw, oh my, well, my nerves would be strained to say the least. It is absolutely crazy over there and if you have never been, maybe New Orleans at Mardi Gras time before the hurricane might be a good way to describe the crowds, but I am not even sure that would do it justice. So...patience with americans is probably not something I would count on!! So short of it, wear clothes that leave no room for interpretation!!! Pants/skirts and sleeved shirts.

"Ello," everyone! I have to go to a family Christening in the "city" (Philadelphia), so I'll check back later and "ketchup!" Welcome back, Helen, thx for the pics, Andy, great comments from the New Yorkers.............I think that's everyone!! "Ave a nice afternoon (night).....!!"

;)

Helen, that is awesome! What kind of dogs are those? They look like Australian cattle dogs (or some kind of herding dogs -- very intelligent).

Great Juilie- I will let you know- I like Sunday Too. WE will be in Manhatten on Wednesday- seeing Mary Poppins!!!:cheer2:

Have fun at Mary Poppins! Do you ever eat at John's Pizzaria? It's our favorite place to eat before or after a B'way show -- it's on 44th across from the Majestic and has delicious brick oven pizzas. We were just there yesterday before seeing Spring Awakening for the 4th time (with my 15 year old, who is a huge fan of the show, and her 16 year old male friend).

On another thread good pictures.

Those pictures are breath taking, and really remind me of why I have been looking forward to this trip for so long! (Changing cruises just bought me an extra sea day -- all the ports I have been planning for ince April of 2006.)

I think this is going to be the best ever cruise.

Hi Julie there Border Collies ;)

Of course they are! I should have seen that instantly. The director of admissions at my girls' preschool shows border collies in competition of some sort. She always said how challenging it is to have border collies because they are so intelligent and willful, although ultimately good natured as well. Beautiful dogs.

I agree, totally!

I keep doing that on this old keyboard, being left handed and typing fast 'to' comes out as ''ot', right getting there before left.

Anyway the cruise will be an endurance test, I have been to Rome, Sorrento, Amalfi Nice and Cannes before, ( did Capri but not going back) and I have been to Barcelona before, but all the rest is new, and good history for the kids, in fact a little late for Alice as she did Pompeii in her exam two weeks ago.

Lots of these places are on my doorstep, but I have spent more time in Orlando and Carribean then France and Italy.

Thanks for that Helen, do you know are the fireworks from the ship of from the port ?

I read somewhere they had fireworks from the land at Villafrance, (checked thats the night for PP).

Pirates night usually is from the back of Palo's.

They also had Fireworks from the land at Barcelona, but not sure if thats every cruise.
