Can this be used for tips on the ship as well as the spa???

yes -it can be used for tips, spa, drinks, excursions

I have done this to ease the bill at the end of the trip also the xchange rate is very good uk - usa.

It can be used for anything you charge to your shipboard acct. We usually charge our tips, put the receipt in the envelope for the cast member with a thank you. We're not going to put money in ahead of time, but it is a good idea.

Is everyone OK with the idea of closing the Fish Extender gift swap as of Friday, 7/20? Somehow I don't think that's what you're referring to. Just curious, what's an SAT exam in the UK

Standardised assessment task = SAT
Taken in Year 2, Year 6 and Year 9 in all UK state schools and most private.
The tests are different for each age group, now at 7 it is mainly teacher assessment, at 11 and 14 it is tests. Subjects tested are English, Maths and Science.
League tables of school's results are published and lots of people here feel it's more about school's accountability than helping children progress, because the tests rarely show up anything that the teacher, parent or child doesn't already know

Hi everyone, this is our first time on a cruise. I booked a few weeks ago and hadn't realised how much planning was required. To introduce us: We are Bhinesh(Me), Mina(DW), Ursula(DD8) and Kishan(DS5) Originally from Tooting SW17 London UK, then Stamford CT USA and now Paget, Bermuda. We arrive in Barcelona on 27th July and are staying in the Eurostars Grand Marina (only one we could find at this late stage)

Can someone help me with these questions please:
[1] Anyone know about the hotel? How do i transfer from the hotel to ship?
[2] Most excursions seem to be potentially unsuitable for the kids. So are we allowed to leave them in the kids clubs, while we are off the ship? I would rather not but reports back from earlier cruisers seem to recommend not to bring kids to Rome, Pompeii, Florence etc.
[3] What other excursions should i try for the kids? All of the ones dedicated to kids are full. Will i be able to book them or go on a waiting list onboard?

WE are staying at thr Grand marina. You can get a Disney Transfer or take a taxi, not sure about the kids club stuff

Making friends on the ship when you are 5 & 6 makes the entire trip 1000% better for them.
I love for them to meet. Any suggestions on how?

Apparently, the apps are not being processed in the order received, but rather when trips are scheduled. While this is somewhat understandable, some people are being stressed because others wait until the last minute to submit apps. This has been more like 20 weeks, not 12.
My SIL was prepared to spend the day at the NYC Passport office if necessary. I haven't heard fromher, so I am confident that the passports arrived.
I just feel badly for people like Mary Jo that have to be stressed before a vacation.

This has me thinking - DH and I must renew our passports in 08. We are scheduled to do the May '08 repo - I was going to wait until Jan of '08 to send them in but at the rate we're going - I think I should do it when I get back! Then maybe it will get back to me prior to April. What you all think?

Hey Julie - will the renewal take affect from the original expiration date - or from the time or processing? I am just curious - I though if I sent it in Oct then that would cut my 10 yrs down by 6 months. I know - crazy but when you get obsessive about timing everything flashes through your mind.

I think that post just made me lost my mind!

Well, unfortunately I am pretty sure that when I have renewed mine before it takes the date it is processed as the new start date and goes 10 years from that, so that is the disadvantage of doing it too early. You might want to contact someone in the passport agency when you get back and ask what they think the processing time for a renewal would be, and then give yourself double that time, to be safe. Mine is up again in Nov of 2014, so I believe all the craziness will have been worked out of the system by then . . .

I'm taking an informal poll...

Are there others out there like me who define cruising as staying aboard the ship, relaxing, eating, napping, relaxing, more napping, etc. rather than getting off at every port for 12hrs and then needing an additional week off when you return home to rest from your "vacation"?

This DH (Jeff) is only going ashore on 4 excursions...

The rest of the time will be savoring some very relaxing moments on board my favorite ship!

YES!! We are with you - we will be doing MUCH more relaxing and swimming than rushing around. We have really little kids, and we have been to europe alot.
