I am currently at the airport in San Antonio, Texas, having spent the weekend with my cousins. I was so stressed out on Friday I almost canceled, but my ds convinced me that I should really go.

Friday did not turn out the way I had hoped, and still no passport, but with Providence we will get it. I'll post more details on the thread, but it turned out that the passport was processed in Washington DC, and the agency in Los Angeles will only take us 48 hours before our travel date. So, we have to wait until the 21st (Saturday) to see if his passport arrives, and only then can we schedule an appointment, and he should get it on Monday. We fly out on Tuesday.

Oh - we're being told that because of lightening in the area, we might be delayed in flying out.

I'll try to post, but will have to stop if they start boarding us right now.

Oh I am sorry. I did not mean I would cancel because of anyone. We have been thinking 4 weeks vacation next summer (and a Thanksgiving cruise as well) may just be too much.

sends lots of and to you. May the decisions you have to make come crystal clear to you in their own time. In the meantime, I will repeat what someone told Andy - don't cancel until the last possible moment of 100% refund. You just never know. I believe that will be around April or May 16th of next year. Quick Andrew, post a countdown!

There should be a newbie FYI post with all this type of info- I was so lost when I first came on- I had no idea what any of abbreviations meant except LOL !

But you will all learn fast- its a great place and I too welcome all of you!!!! We ae going to have a blast.......

Hi everyone, this is our first time on a cruise. I booked a few weeks ago and hadn't realised how much planning was required. To introduce us: We are Bhinesh(Me), Mina(DW), Ursula(DD8) and Kishan(DS5) Originally from Tooting SW17 London UK, then Stamford CT USA and now Paget, Bermuda. We arrive in Barcelona on 27th July and are staying in the Eurostars Grand Marina (only one we could find at this late stage)

Can someone help me with these questions please:
[1] Anyone know about the hotel? How do i transfer from the hotel to ship?
[2] Most excursions seem to be potentially unsuitable for the kids. So are we allowed to leave them in the kids clubs, while we are off the ship? I would rather not but reports back from earlier cruisers seem to recommend not to bring kids to Rome, Pompeii, Florence etc.
[3] What other excursions should i try for the kids? All of the ones dedicated to kids are full. Will i be able to book them or go on a waiting list onboard?

My name is Lynn: (39, ok- actually I just turned 40 last week, having a bit of denial). Originally from NY,lived in LA for 9 years, now we are up in Northern CA near Palo Alto. Former stylist/personal shopper. Now a event planner for a 5 year old.
Aidan: (5 yrs old) distant relative to the Energizer Bunny. (I know more about dinosaurs and Pokemon than any woman should have to)
Brendan: (38) Attorney/Writer. And the REAL reason we only take Disney Cruise vacations. He tells everyone we take them for our son.

This is our 3rd Cruise. Our next is the maiden voyage for the 2008 Mexican Riviera.

I haven't planned too many excursions for the Med cruise. We have always just kinda played it by ear.
So far:
Palermo for Kids
Coda Cavallo Beach (Sardinia)
In Rome we hired a private car service to take us around for the day.
Florence On Your Own
Eagles in Beaucaire (Marseilles)

Then after we debark, we head to Ireland for 5 days.

Tell me about your plans. More importantly, does your son like dinosaurs?

- she'll fit right in! And just for the record - another crazy Californian!

Welcome Lynn 2 or L2 - we have another Lynn from the UK here so forgive me if I call you L2 or any variation hereafter. I did the same for another situation- we have 2 Mary Jo's and Mary Jo #1 became MJ and the other Mary Jo became MJ2 much faster to type that way.

Anyway, I too am from CA - SoCal to be exact. I will also be saying good-by to my 40th on the 23rd but I'm actually looking forward to it - hoping that my 41st year turns out much better than my 40th! "Sides" I like to think that I don't look that old to have a 21 yo -(BTW just a tidbit for our thread - DD19 just informed me that I can breathe safely - DS did not run off and get married on 07/07/07.), a soon to be 20 yo old and a 14 yo old going on 14!

Bhinesh! I can't help you with the kids questions but don't despair - I know that many of us will be cancelling excursions - so some will be opening up. Also, if you hurry upon embarkation day - you might find "some spots" that DCL may have "opened up" just in case for latecomers or those w/o internet access.

In the meantime, if you have any other questions, just post - someone here will be able to answer them sometime I promise. And since many (OK seems like the majority) are from the other side of the pond - or here in the USA - you may be it answered twice and at whatever time.

OH just realized that your our 2nd person from the Caribbean - Penny - Islandmomof3 is from Bahamas I think. Anyway, be sure to visit page 1 post 10 or 12 for some info on us.

Many of us have put our names in the signature line to help us identify ourselves and there is some pictures on us there too.

What are your plans for after? Several of us will be going on to Disneyland Paris after and if you need help there we can try and help there too.

Also, is this the first time in Europe? For many of us it is but for some they are experts - Andrew (AndrewDerekUK) - our resident expert is a fountain of information so he may be able to answer.

Just jump in and post! I'm sure as the week progresses I will be less and less on the board so if anyone wants anything from DL - just PM me - I might check daily for PM's if I can't check the board.

On a side note - I got a taste of what our cruise might be like. DD19 had just informed me that she needed glasses. Spent all day at the mall - literally at Lenscrafters trying out glasses - got those, then after - we went looking at cars - I was so plumb tired out that I cat-napped from 6:30 - 9 pm. Just got done eating and can't go to sleep.

Well since the boards are soon to go down - better check to see if I can access DCL to cancel some excursions! I swear - this is where my 's are coming from.

Hi Lynn - just noticed from your sig line that we must of crossed off the ship while you were probably getting ready to cross into the ship.

DH and I did both of the PC cruise in '05. We had so much fun I'm planning on doing both again next year so we may end up crossing paths there again.

We will be doing our family cruise in mid-July so you get to tell us how it is first this time.

We've been to Cabo lots of times so that will probably be our resting port. The others - we'll have to see.

What is the gift swap? (I am sooo new)

Just realized I missed telling you what a gift swap is.

It is a gift exchange that we are having on the Sunday after we board - the next day at 9:30 am at the Promade Lounge. We bring one bag with stuff totalling about $15-$20 dollars. Some are making it a geographically designed gift bag - for instance if you lived in CA as I do - you'd probably put stuff in there that pertains to your local events such as a Disneyland item, of if there is something that is famous locally, something like that.

Its just a form of breaking the ice and helps to bond the group. The rules are simple - buy things that do not surpass $20. One bag per family and if you bring a bag, you take a bag. Simple. If you have any other questions, just post - someone will answer soon

We did a cruise last year ( not disney ) and did an excursion to Rome, It is very very tiring, we have 2 children, they where 5 & 8 at the time and they were both exhausted by the end of the day, I think it is more suited to older children as younger children don't really appreciate what they are looking at.

There are actually 2 gift swaps - the kids swap which was handled by Sallie and Carley her daughter and the adult one that will be held on Sunday, 7/29 at 9:30 in the Promonade lounge. I think. But if I'm wrong - I'm sure someone will jump in and post the correct information.

In the meantime, don't forget to check out post 10 and 12 on page 1 for info and pictures of some of your fellow cruise mates. It helps to make the cruise more interesting.

If you happen to see me onboard - just walk up and say hi! We're all very friendly and happy here. But warning - you may want to stay away from Sallie and her propeller hat if your anywhere near a place of worship -

Just kidding Sallie - I just have some much fun warning people about you! As if I didn't have anything to do with that!

Well, at least you won't be sitting in the back of any churches flashing anymore - now - I've really got to get going and find my manhole cover again.

I have a special request. My sister, my brother in law and my nephew were all going to be traveling with you on the crusie. In May my sister was found to have a brain tumor and she had to cancel her trip. She is home recuperating but unfortunately she will not be able to do the cruise. She reads the threads all the time and I thought it would be great if anyone and everyone can give her a trip report and maybe some pictures. That is so sweet! I hope Carley understands the significance of lime green as a color choice! Serena is 2 1/2 going on 12 (because she has two older brothers), she loves stickers, stamps, anything sparkly, barettes or anything for her hair, anything that seems like a princess would like it or use it.

And sallie, you never answered my question about music, did you? I'm going to order from amazon and send direct to my cousin...as soon as I get some suggestions for a 12 year old! Julie gave me some good ideas also.

HI Suzy- You cant imagine how much I miss those pink, sparkly, princess days. I probably could have bought another house with all the trinkets, accessories, dress ups, and clothes that sparkled and twinkled. That is exactly what Carley said she wanted to do after our shopping excursion- go to the Disney store for princess things- I thought it should be something a little different- but I will listen to my daughter from now on!!!
I did forget about the music- and she is sleeping right now, but as soon as gets up I will have her post some. I have no idea what the names are- Im a Frank Sinantra, disco, Rat Pack, easy listener- so I have no idea !!!!
