Thanks regarding the info. on the calling cards. I had not thought of that. We do buy them here all the time to call Italy. I am going to get one for my son as soon as we get to Italy so he can call his girlfriend. (How will they survive two weeks without each other )

I did call tmobile - land price is .99 minute. Price on ship is $4.99 a min. Also text messages (land?) incoming are free and .35 cents outgoing. We are only taking my son's phone and will only use it for emergency/his girlfriend. I told him his phone must be turned off while out at sea. I am not paying $4.99 a minute.

The card will be much better if he wants to spend a few minutes on the phone.

I know -- I also have t-mobile and I have to remember to turn my phone off as well or I will get a ton of $4.99 calls to voice mail! Arrrgh! The international calling cards sound pretty reasonable to me. Also, I have looked up where there are internet cafes at every one of our ports and the prices there are much more reasonable than the ship's internet costs. I will let my girls email their friends a few times that way. The only place I couldn't find one is Olbia, and who knows? There might be one there anyway.

Keep in mind that you may happen upon one anywhere, so don't go out of your way to look for these, but this is what I have found:

Barcelona: INETCORNER, Sardenya 306

Palermo: Western Union office in ship terminal building where you dock (about $4/hr)

Naples: There are many along the main blvd. fronting the dock

Rome: Easy Internet Cafe, Barbarini 2 near the Termini Station

Floence: Internet train, many locations, including Stazione 14/38 and the Piazza Duomo 20

Marseiles: Cafe @ 1 Quai de Rive Neuve, at southeast corner of port, 4 euros/hr

Villefrance: Chez Net, 5 Place du Marche, behind Hotel Welcome, 7 euros/hr
