July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! Part 2

Funny thing is, for all that cruise plans have been distracting me from most everything else (aka work), I've finally found something that is even distracting me from cruise plans.

That is, of course, Harry Potter.

After seeing the midnight premier (not bad), I just finished rereading Order of the Phoenix, and was delighted to find "proof" that Snape is a good guy after all.

It seems that when Harry is taking Oclamancy classes with Snape, he yells at Snape something along the lines of "isn't it your job to find out what Voldemort is saying to his Death Eaters". Snape, rather than being insulted, answers something along the lines of "as a matter of fact, it is".

Obviously, he was following Dumbledore's instructions not to break cover.

Ok, I know it has nothing to do with the cruise, but my departure is still 13 days away, and HP7 is only 7 days away. I better move fast with rereading Half Blood Prince or I may completely run out of time to pack....

I wish I had time to reread book 6 and book 7 is coming the day before we leave for London. Haven't seen movie 5 but I think I might play hookie today from work and go see it. Still deciding if I should lug the book around in our luggage .

Dan, I agree about Snape. I didn't catch what Snape said but I always figured he was a good guy. Dumbledore's trust in Snape is just so overriding that I can't believe he could be bad.

I am just wondering I know you can add stateroom credit as a gift, and I know it is in incremements of $25.

Anyone know how much it costs to do this? Also is there a maximum amount.

My thinking is - I would love to pay for our excursions in advance - I was wondering how much it would cost and indeed whether DCL would let me add $1000 to our onboard credit account. I could say it is a gift for my DH is needs be?

Any help would be appreciated

I just called and added money to our account, I have a nationwide cc and they have no charges when making purchases abroad. Plus I got the exchange rate of 2.3 dollars to the pound. (ok I know its not good for you americans but I was pleased)

My sister was going to try and pay for her excursions ahead of time. I wonder if this is what she did too.

Do you think DCL adds VAT to shore excursions too?

Good Morning (and good afternoon to those across the pond!)
Please help me if you have any knowledge here. I went to Cingular yesterday to get a phone and service for our trip. (We have Alltell that does not offer service nor can you "unlock" the phones.) This is what our salesman with Alltell suggested I do. Cingular would sell me a phone but would not give me international service until we had been a customer for at least 6 months. I have been researching on ebay and can get an unlocked phone. I am told to just get a sim card where I am going. I cannot find out about service and how to get it connected. I am trying to figure out whether to buy a phone (preferred) and try to get the service to it or whether to just rent a phone. The second option will cost as much to buy one and the cost per minute is very high.
Any help is appreciated.

Boy, this was talked about on the other threads but can't remember exactly where. I think maybe the earlier Med cruises and the transatlantic one. People in the same boat, trying to get a cell phone with international service. Sorry, I'm no help. I'll see if I can't find the discussion.

I believe they have to -- but I'm not sure if if was already added into the cost cited for the excursion or if it will be added on in addition. I'm not doing any DCL excursions do I didn't pay much attention to this on other threads. Maybe you can post the question on a thread and someone who has already been on a Med cruise can give you the answer.

My oldest daughter and I will see the 5th movie later today -- my middle daughter saw it the day it came out, with my sister she is visiting in Boston. She said it was really good. We'll get the book at a midnight party next Friday, but I wonder if I will find the time to read it before July 26 or will I have to carry that huge book around with me on the plane to Europe???!!!
