Morning all. I see that we had a lonely sole here all night only to have her pirate cruelly snatched away at the last possible moment by someone from this side of the pond !!!!!!
I think there is far too much FLUFF setting in!
Please don't tar all us Brits with the brush thinking that we ALL go around acting that way![]()

Hey Andrew - sorry to hear about your cold. But that does bring up another question I hope you can answer. (Yes I have insomnia again) anyway, do you recommend taking vitamins or anything. I mean when you come down to the States, do you take anything? Everything is so new to me that I can just see myself getting sick. And my TA dropped the ball when it came to insurance. So, I have to do all I can to prepare myself. These reports I've been reading all seem to say how long these days are. While I'm getting more excited I am also getting more

Another thing. You mentioned that you were taking a lot of private tours. I took your recommendation on the Amalfi Coast -I decided not to book that particular one as DH and DD and DD's BFF gets carsick and windy roads would just do them in.
I have contacted a private tour company in the hopes that they have availability for the dates we shall be in port.
For that time of the year - and for having people prone to carsickness and windy road syndrome, is this a better suggestion would you say. DH says to book it but I am still afraid of missing the boat if you know what I mean? Have you evern encountered a problem like this or do most of the tour companies do a good job of getting you back in time?
I know this is late, and I have booked DCL but this may be a better option for us. Would do you think? This way we are also at our own mercy and not the mercy of a busload of people.
Hi I must say I try not to use tablets etc, but if i have a cold or on holiday I drink lots and lots of fresh Orange juice, ( real not consolidated) to get Vit C in.
I do not usually suffer from car sickness but my DD does and she cuts down on food before trips, She currently doesnt take anything for it, but has a school trip to France soon on the car ferry, she was ok on Eurostar under the sea but might have a problem on that.
Its funny on the MAGIC she is fine, very good stabilizers we went through that hurriciane Hilary in 2005, she was ok, but on small boats, our channel ferry, Cozumel to Tulum boat, and I would presume Capri boat she isnt good.
I have read about 'sea bands' and will look into for her, anyone else have suggestions?
As yes we have many private tours and the early MED trip threads and bloggs on other sites mention the long travel time, although Italy had a nationalk holiday the day they went to Florence.
Cold :- I was sitting next to a toddler on the plane back and that child had a bad cold and passed it on, I remember thinking, I am going to get it!!!!Ok so I'm back in now....how fustrating was that.
Anyway I've done as I was told and added my name to my sig so now you all know who you're talking to.
So sorry Andrew to see that you're not feeling well. I gues that you're not taking advatage of the glorious weather today if you're not feeling 100%.
BTW I forgot to post before our stateroom for this cruise is no. 8564
Thanks for that will tryLaura, my sister who travels a lot swears by Airborne . . . she takes it before the flight, on the flight, and once or twice a day as a precaution. I prefer Emergen-C, which comes in little packets you mix in water. I usually drink one before bed while on vacation, more if I feel I am coming down with something.
Andrew, my oldest daughter gets motion sickness and uses the sea bands with success. She also uses chewable ginger (the ones here are called Chimes) which has immediate stomach soothing effects.
Ok so the weather is FANTASTIC right now in north London and my two boys have decided that it's a "fine day" to be Monorail Imagineers. So they've taken into the garden ALL the WDW Monorail that we've bought back over the years. Which means right now I have the following in the garden
Cinderella's Castle
The Tree of Life
Sorcerer Mickey's Huge hat
Spaceship Earth
Polynesian Hotel
Contemporary Hotel
Monorail switch station (TCC)
approx 200ft of monorail track
and 3 Monorail trains
If it gets built into anything interesting I'll post a photo
Good Morning everyone- I cant believe we woke up to yet another terrorist threat here at JFK Airport- It is the major story on all news channels today this morning. Of course we delayed booking this cruise because of 9/11 and all the threats and warnings about overseas travel since. I must say living in NYC or very close to, is like living with a weight upon your shoulders, as I am sure is for all those living in "high risk" areas.
Over 40 people alone were killed in my town from 9/11- including a mother of 4 children.
WE only live about 15-20 min from JFK, but due to a mistake by our TA, we are leaving out of Newark, which we were a little upset about since that airport is in New Jersey, about 70 min away. Well, there goes that fate thing again- what will be ,will be.
Thank God for the FBI, and the National Security- What a world we live ..in![]()
