Hi,

I copied this from another thread incase anyone missed it

Barcelona Port Information (telephones, Taxis, Shipping, Etc.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I jotted down this information when we got off in Barcelona on the 26th from our EB cruise and thought it might be helpful for those cruising from Barcelona through the summer.

PHONE-There is a vendor in the terminal and has telephones set up so you can call. You go to a phone, dial the number and when you are finished a receipt prints out and then you go pay him in Euros (CASH ONLY) for the time you used. It is .65 Euros per minute. (Don't know how you really say that, but since I am American I would say 65 cents per minute!)

TAXIS-You can easily take taxis from the port to the airport, however, be aware that the taxis are SMALL and you get charged a surcharge for extra baggage. However, I would still recommend taking a taxi versus the bus because you get dropped right in front of the terminal. Buses were going to terminal B and Delta and Air France are in terminal A. There are no porters anywhere that I could see and you have to schlep your luggage all on your own and with the construction mess they have going on there, it is an eventful journey! Cost for the taxi was 20 Euros and then we got a 9 Euro surcharge for the extra baggage. Just remember-you will need to be patient at the curb because there were tons of people and it took 15 minutes or so for us to get to the front of the line. Also, our porter hauled the luggage out to the taxi line for us, but then while we were in line, I guess it was their break time, so all the porters just dumped everyone's luggage and left so you had to move it up in line yourselves! Taxi time to airport is no more than 15 minutes or so. Also, there were a few taxi vans, but they were few and far between. There were only 2 of us, so he put our excess luggage in the front seat with him and then we held out camera case and my carry on in the back seat with me.

CUSTOMS-There was none. We were not swiped with our Key to the World Card when we left, no one checked our luggage and we did not have to show our passports on the way out. Keep them with you in a safe place, but don't have them out since you could drop one. There were no customs forms to fill out. We filled them out on the airplane before we landed in Washington DC.

SHIPPING-UPS was set up in the port on Friday afternoon and you could go ship your stuff that evening if you didn't want to haul it back to the U.S. However, be forewarned, the cost was unbelievable and you are better off to back over weight luggage fees than pay the cost they were asking for. Here was the chart (please sit down before reading)

KG's Euros
20 345
25 359
30 369
35 384
40 393
45 404
50 413
55 422
60 432
65 442
70 452
80 472
90 490
100 510
+ 100 Kg 5,10 per kg

I was told 20 kg is about 42 pounds and based on 345 euros that would be over $450 us dollars.

Also, was told that it would take 8-10 days. They said if you had your own business account you could you use your business number and the rate would be less expensive, but don't know what that is.

Like I said, you are better to be the overweight fees on luggage at the airport if you have a problem!

GETTING TO THE PORT EARLY-The port is not at all like Port Canaveral, although they have Disneyized it. You don't need to get their early. When you enter the port there is a security line and then a small lounge with about 10-15 check in stations. I would not get their before 10 a.m. at the earliest. I was told by my friends that stayed on the ship that boarding started around noon. There are about 4 little shops you can go in to. One had liquor, and the others were souvenir type places.

BUSES TO BARCELONA-Disney has courtesy buses that took us from the port to the area of the Christopher Columbus statute. It is about a 8-10 minute ride. There is nothing around the terminal except other ships and parking lots. It is a commercial area. Nothing you can walk to and get a bite to eat or anything from what I saw. You can walk from the port to the city. You will go over a bridge and it is about a 15-20 minute walk.

Okay, I think that covers the notes I wrote down before we left. If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to see if I can answer.

:flower3:

Curious - The Disney reservation site is showing availability of discounted Cat 12 spots on the Westbound Atlantic trip again.
I wonder if someone cancelled, or if they figured it was working so well they made more spots available?
I will resist... I will resist...

OMG You guys. I'm so terribly embarrassed that I just want to curl up in a ball and cry. I totally forgot to pay something that I won on an auction site and today I just realized that I did this. I went to pay and offer my sincerest apologies but I got this very not so nice letter from the seller. I understand her point of view and am deeply deeply embarrassed that this happened. I also apologized and hoped that she would accept my payment. OMG! :sad1: I know that I did wrong but oh lordy! wish I could turn back time.

I always pay within 24 hrs and can't begin to express my embarrassment. Truth be told, I have made a mess of my life the last week and just wish the ground would open up and swallow me whole.

Please someone out there, tell me this has happened to others. I am sitting here in tears and can't stop it. I know this is silly but I hate the thought that people out there think I am not a person of my word.

Someone quick please tell me something nice so that I don't go all depressed and all. I have so much to look forward too and so much to be thankful for but these dark moments have been coming much too much lately.

OK - I will try and get off my soapbox for a while - maybe some fresh air will help. I will attempt to take the dogs for a walk in the hopes that this will help me rise out of this place. And hopefully I will come back to some encouraging words of wisdom from my friends here.

Hi Laura, I'm sure we've all done much worse! If you apologized and offered to pay her now I don't understand why she's so upset....can you pay for it now and it will be OK? You haven't harmed anyone, hurt anyone or damaged anything....no worries. Don't worry be happy!
Penny

Laura,
You are not alone. I've done things like that and I know you feel rotten. A nice person would have vented and then accepted your apologies. We have all done things like this (most likely including her). I wonder if she ALWAYS sends her items in exactly the time she says? If she didn't accept your apology that is her problem.

I know it's difficult but try to let it go. Like Penny said you haven't hurt anyone or damaged anything, you have apologized. Now it's her problem.

I'm sorry, but it seems to me that the seller was a jerk.
If you're a seller, and someone doesn't pay, you send out a friendly reminder before getting nasty (and nasty includes trying to guilt out the buyer).
And if you get a polite apology with payment, the correct response is "I understand, I sometimes forget things also - thanks for remembering and for your kind note".

Everyone blows it on occasion (and we tend to dwell on those failures far more than our successes - odd, isn't it?). In any relationship (business or otherwise) you have to assume that the other person is sometimes going to make mistakes. The measure of their character isn't in the mistakes, but in the way they handle them. If they apologize and try to make it right, and accept your apologies when it's your turn to screw up, they're the kind of people you want to keep around - and the kind of people whose opinion you might want to pay attention to.

But someone who sends an unpleasant note in response to an apology, or loads on the guilt - that's not someone whose opinon of you is worth caring about (though of course it's hard to avoid caring anyway - another odd thing, isn't it?).

Don't beat yourself up because you're dealing with someone who lacks decency.

Please help me!!!
I have taken pictures of some scrapbook pages, transfered them to the computer, edited them as needed, I tried to post them through the Photo section on the DisBoard but that didn't work so I put them on photobucket...

but I can't figure out how to get them onto the Disboard.:confused3

I know somewhere there was an explanation. If someone remembers where it is please let me know.

Give me paper, fabric, scissors, glue, pictures, embellishments, etc... anytime and I can do something with them but this computer stuff is just not for me.

Sandra

Hi, I saw on page one that islandmom3, that's me, is listed as unknown for dinner time. We're on the early shift ( 3 hungry kids.) We're also staying on deck 5. If we could be put on the list for the early time I would be ever so thankful! Thanks for keeping us with all of us!
Penny:butterfly

Sorry Sandra, I think it's just you and me at the moment and I'm more hopeless than you on the computer. Tomorrow when we're asleep and the other side of the pond is awake they'll give you some help.

Ok , since it's only you and me, explain this pirate thing to me one more time....slowly.

so now it's only me....the only one left standing ....and if I post to myself for the next 47 mesages, I'll get a pirate it would seem....

well considering some of the other tactics that I've seen here....it would seem only pirate like to do just that.

although to sit here and post an additional 47 posts seems a bit daunting... but since I'm trying to get my first pirate I might just stick to it.
