July 22, 2012 5 Night Bahamian Cruise

Hi everyone! Why so quiet? Everyone must be busy with end of the school year! 1 1/2 more days of school for my DD!

As far as excursions go- we only have the following scheduled:

CC (Day 1)- Parasailing (for DH and DD)
Nassau - Booked Comfort Suites to gain access to Atlantis
Last Night- Remy@ 6:00pm

We want to chillax on this cruise since we only have 5nights :flower3: The last time we cruised was 7nights on the Magic.

Hi Pauline!

This time of year is always busy. The kids have been out for a couple weeks here in Indiana. Personally, we've been busy making serious travel preparations- starting getting stuff organized, FE stuff and such. :thumbsup2

Sounds like you've got some fun stuff planned. We're doing Palo, but not Remy. You'll have to give us a full report!

38 days!

We still have 2 1/2 weeks till school ends here. Still getting year end things done :scared:. We have had excursions planned for months. Palo brunch as a celebration for our groups birthdays and anniversaries for the month of July. Booked a room at Comfort Suites to access Atlantis also.( how much is a taxi to Comfort Suites? or is there a better way?) As for CC nothing booked. Just want to relax, snorkel, and play. FE's are all done so just waiting till the July 19 till we fly out of here. Have been excited for a year now since we booked our B2B Dream and Fantasy. First time on the new ships and we are traveling with 2 ladies who have never been on a Disney Cruise before so we are excited for them as well. :tinker:

I would love this information! We didn't do any excursions on our first cruise and now we are looking around at what we want to do (and have a few things booked). I'd love to know if there are any other DISers that are doing what we are, just so that there are options if anyone wants to meet up.

Maybe there is an ongoing list, but could we come up with a list that includes everyone that is going, and their party? I know that we'd love to meet up with other couples, since we are kid-less this trip (not that we don't love hanging with the families, but...), and we'd love to have that info at hand. Is that too internet stock-ish? :confused3

I'd be happy to keep an ongoing list of info for our cruisers, if someone else doesn't have that info somewhere yet. Just let me know. :goodvibes

Well alright then! I think that is a smashing idea! DW and I are also fortunate enough to be getting away without our kids. :beach: We're planning on doing a bunch of the tastings but you can't book those until onboard. We'll be booking a bunch of those as soon as onboard (no I'm not a drunk, but I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night..) and will have that info available at the Meet-n-greet for any who would like to join us. We'd love the company but it will have to rather informal because of the timing.

If you would like to keep track of the excursions, I say go for it. :thumbsup2 We are planning on running the Castaway 5k, for sure the first visit and probably the second visit. There has been a lot of conversation about getting together ahead of time to warm up and a group picture. Might want to add that to the list. Our other plans are:
Monday- after 5k , just chilling on the beach at Serenity bay then late Palo dinner reservations- 9ish I think.
Tues -No official excursions. Might hit Rainforest room. Pirate Party
Wed -Palo Brunch
Thurs - Most likely 5k again to sweat out liquor and butter. Stingray catamaran and snorkling. Then off to Serenity bay.
*various visits to the District through the week*

We'll most likely do other things like animation or cooking classes but nothing planned until onboard. We are looking forward to getting to know as many folks as possible and would love to hang with our DIS Crew! We've had great luck hitting it off with folks we've met and have stayed in touch with quite a few.

Thanks very much for volunteering. Let me know if there is anything you need.

As a follow-up to my previous post, I have proposed plans for our July Double Dippers mid-cruise adults get-together/ stump the bartender contest:

It's been a popular idea in the past to schedule an informal gathering for the adults some time during the mid-portion of the cruise. The motivation is to continue friendships, swap stories of your experiences since embarkation, share tips or advice you may have and generally have a great time. Most importantly, it will also allow those traveling with children to be able to unwind and remember that they are individuals too!

I propose we meet in the District Lounge on Wednesday 7/25 around 10:00 PM. For those of us with 2nd seating that should give us enough time to finish dining. Of course, this is very informal and I’m sure people with be coming and going. Wednesday, I believe is the best choice for the evening. Sunday and Monday will be too early in the cruise and we will all still be getting acclimated. Tuesday night looks to be the Pirate party. I know you’d all love to see me in my awesome pirate hat but it’s also Nassau day and many folks will be shagged after a long day of excursions and beach fun. Wednesday seems “just right”. It’s still mid-crusie and an at-sea day so we should all be rested from low-key activities. Also, our second stop at Castaway Cay is the next day. Any advice we can share will still be helpful and we may be able to coordinate some activities for the day on CC. (even just having lunch with a family you or the kids have have made friends)

I believe the District Lounge is the logical choice for a location. There usually is a small buffet for those with the munchies. It is adults-only in the evening with a bar of its own but, most interestingly, it stands at the beginning of the District. It has immediate access to several other bars and lounges so, as mood dictates, we can always migrate rather easily. Sing along at the sports pub, or martinis at Skyline or Pink? Of course, I might even brave the dance floor at Evolution with enough liquid encouragement. Who knows? Regardless of where the evening ends I am very much looking forward to not only meeting you on the first day, but getting to know you along our journey.

Please let me know if you have any other ideas. I’ve tried to look at this from multiple angles and, while nothing’s perfect, this seems to fit for most. I am sure that there will be other casual meetings, either planned or randomly. (I for one am looking forward to a drink while enjoying the view at currents) They can evolve on their own, but having this and the Meet-N-Greet on embarkation day scheduled ahead of time, will be plenty to get us started. So , indulge yourself- come out Wednesday evening had help me play stump the bartender. :lmao:

Good Evening all,

We have one family who needs to bow out of the FE.

The Diana Schulz family WILL NOT be participating in our FE fun. They are still planning on partcipating in our other activities.

I will send out an updated list early next week.

Have a good weekend. We are headed back to St. Louis to celebrate my grandfathers 93rd birthday. Looking forward to that just not looking forward to that St. Louis humidity. :)

Happy Father's Day Weekend to all our DIS Dads! FYI Michaels has a 50% off coupon this weekend just in case you want to get that picture frame mat for signatures.

DH is on a mancation in San Francisco to watch the U.S. Open (for those of you who golf)

"Mancation"...I like it.

I think the closest I'll come to that is a "Man-Caveation". But as long as it involves blueberry french toast I'm a happy camper! :thumbsup2

Helo Fellower crusiers! We are certainly excited for out Cruise in July! We can meet anywhere, just tell us when and where! Absolutely interested in participating in the FE program! Count us in! ANy tips greatly appreciated! Looking forward to a great time! Thanks so much!

Hello and welcome to the July Double-Dippers group! My name is Jay and I've been informally been organizing some of the get-togethers. We are looking forward to meeting you. I've just recently posted a time and locale for a mid-week cocktail get-together. Some time back the group finalized plans for a meet-n-greet for embarkation to put faces to names get the party started. I'll repost that info shortly.

The first FE list has closed. However, there has been a trickle of folks joining us that may be interested in creating a second FE list. If interested, perhaps you can contact cades mom and get a second list organized. ;)

It looks like we're getting some real fun activities put together as well. courtnvm has begun to put together a list of of some of the excursions many of our group are participating in so that we may do so together if we'd like. Several are planning the Castaway 5k.

Also, if I remember correctly, several of us are doing Palo brunch. Would you guys be interested in trying to be seated together or near? We may need each others help walking back afterward! :rotfl2:

Once again, glad you joined us. Can't wait to meet you in person. ...(Bartender!...another round!):rolleyes1

This is a re-post for those new to the group regarding our Day 1 Meet and Greet

The "July Double-Dippers" Meet and Greet will be held on Sunday, embarkation day, July 22nd at 3 PM at D'Lounge. If, for some reason, the D' lounge is unavailable the Vista Cafe down the hall, just fore to D' Lounge will be the backup. The get-together will run as long as those willing or until previous or mandatory engagements require. I'll try to bring nametags and a sharpie for all who'd like. It might make is easier to put a face to a screen name . At that time, anyone who has changed cabins from the list Tami will provide please update her so we can all know where to drop FE gifts. With luck DW and I will have booked some adult beverage tastings and can let anyone know who is interested in joining us. Realling looking forward to meeting you all!

Jay, can't wait to party with you and everyone else! We didn't book the Palo Brunch, but maybe I will when we get onboard.:wizard:

So we only have a semi-formal night...what's everyone planning to wear?

Who else has 2nd seating?

-Pauline

I just discovered this board AND FE's today. My 8 year old daughter and I are going on this Dream cruise, and she'll want to partake of the FE's. What can we do to get in on a list?:littleangel:

Hello all! I'm brand new to the board. I heard about FE's elsewhere on the web and after some research, found this board and signed up. My 8 year old daughter and I are going on this Dream cruise and we're very excited. She's determined to be her own girl as much as she can (get away with) on board.

So - are there any other single parents going on this cruise? It's not fun being the fifth wheel all the time, and it would be great to find someone else to share a table at an adult meal while Athena is off with friends.

Welcome Screnwriter!!!:cheer2:

I noticed you're from the O.C. too! :cool2: We live in Ladera Ranch. I also have an 8 year old DD. School ended just last Thursday :woohoo:
Did you book any excursions yet? Have fun planning and see you on July 22nd!

Pauline, YES, I booked us on the Nassau package including the dolphin encounter, then the Castaway Cay day package (including stingrays!) On Thursday. We're gonna stay on board ship Tuesday, and just have the run of the place and enjoy everything there.

Looking forward to making lots of new friends onboard ship!

Can't wait for a little party time. I think we're in store for a great time. :thumbsup2

Katie and I have second seating. We've prefered it since our first cruise and wouldn't have it any other way. On semi-formal night I'll be rocking the suit and tie and DW will be more beautiful than I deserve though I don't know what she's planning to wear. If it's Monday we'll only be at dinner for a drink and maybe an app to say hi as we're heading up to Palo for a late dinner. pirate:

Just got our cruise documents. As first time cruisers, we're very excited by all that we're going to do. My daughter can't wait to see Oceaneer lab, ride the AquaDuck, watch a poolside movie, and she's hoping to be chosen for the Golden Mickeys.

We're still trying to hook up with the FE master (mistress). I only found out about FE's last week, and I don't know who to contact to see if we can get in on this. It's something my daughter would love to do, and I hope we can join in the fun.

:cool1:
