July 2011 Check in Thread Post your travel dates and hotel here

We will be there 7/22/11-7/24/11, staying at the Park Vue Inn. Can't wait, its been over a year since we have been back!

My group is making final decisions on what must be reserved as far as eating once our window opens. So far, we're planning on Goofy's Kitchen and the WOC premium meal at Ariel's Grotto. Anyone have suggestions for meals requiring reservations that just can't be missed?

Blue Bayou for atmosphere (I've heard mixed reviews for dining, but we just want to eat inside PotC).

Carnation Cafe seems to have a reputation for having the best potato soup out there, and we're excited to try it for the first time on our trip.

July 25-29 at the Courtyard by Marriott! DS is going to camp and DH and I are celebrating a very special anniversary at DLR all by our grown up selves. We even have DS's blessing and best wishes for a great time on our trip. It's unbelievable!

We're going to hit Blue Bayou this time for sure and I think I'd like to try Storyteller's for lunch one day just for the fun on it. (any opinions on Storytellers?) Plus WOC picnic meal and Fantasmic. I can hardly stand the wait!

Jen&Trenton will be flying from Dubai to Canada to San Diego. A friend and her DD7 will be coming from Canada, and we are flying out our little DB9 & DS7 from Houston to meet us in San Diego. Trip total is 2 weeks. It will be everyone's first time except for us! Very excited.

Residence Inn Maingate from July 9-16.

I've heard a lot about Blue Bayou, if only just for the atmosphere. I'm on the fence about it, as we can't afford to eat "lavishly" all week and have 2 other expensive meals in plan, but am still thinking about it!

Dude, I hope to taste that potato soup!

Another question: Those of you who have flown to DL, do you know if security has a problem having your pins in your carry-on? I don't plan to check my bag, so I need to know!

July 11th - 17th at DLR :mickeyjum:mickeyjum

Your dates are added. Did you know that Disneyland's anniversary is on the 17th? DL opened 56 years ago on the July 17, 1955. I wonder if they will do something special on that day.

Jumping in!!! We will be there for our 1st trip on the 16 of July until the 21st... going to San Diego and LA the week before... and my dd (17)- a non disney person is kinda into it... that is like AMAZING!
Finally decided on HOJO. great rate of $118/n with DIS code. bUT IF a 3/5 deal comes out- who knows????
I can make dining 60 days out from the 16th right? but can't do them all at once (have to wait til the 17th of May to book July 17th, ect) right?
WDW is a little different
SO EXCITED!
Jill

Jill, I have added your dates. From what I have read here HOJOs is hard to beat on value and good choice for a hotel. You can book your dining reservations 60 days from your trip. I believe you have to call in each day at the 60 days mark to book each day's reservations. I will be making my dining reservations in 2 days (May 2), for my July 1st check in at the VGC (studio).

Your dates are added, too. Your trip should be the greatest, since it has been a whole year since your last visit. Have fun with the planning.

Your dates have been added. It is a special trip when grown up parents go on a special Disneyland trip to celebrate the life they share. DH and I will be doing the very same thing the first weekend in July. It is not really our anniversary (it is in Oct.), but the kid's schedule and sports kept getting in the way. I'd rather get a weekend way than not at all! You will have a great time.

Added. Oh boy, very few things are as fun as witnessing first timers at DLR. Just adds to the enjoyment of being in Disneyland. And so many to share the joy. Sounds like a wonderful trip is in store for you.

Thanks funatdisney! I LOVE DLR and watching little ones experience it for the first time is a total double whammy :)

I've never had problems in the past but if you have doubts then I would get in contact with the airport you are leaving from. I'm leaving from SEATAC and I've heard they can be strict, so I'm calling in ahead to ask.

I never check my bags and I've never even been through extra-security with things like pins. :)

Thanks. That's good to know :goodvibes I found the TSA prohibited items list and pins are not listed, but if scissors with 4'' or less blades are permitted, then certainly pins can be! I'm flying out of Orlando, so I would imagine pins go in and out constantly.

I'm eager to add some DL to my extensive WDW collection!

Take Kamehameha off the list for July. We decided to move and our trip will be postponed to next year.

Sad to see you won't be going this year, but at least next year you'll be showing up to a hopefully complete Carsland.

Well my family will be at Disney from July 16th through the 19th.

Staying at the Super8 again this year(just like last year)

I am so sorry to read that you want be making your trip this year. But just as Feathers mentioned, next year you will be able to visit a more completed DCA with Carsland and most of the entrance done. Hope to see you post in next year's thread.

Thundergod, welcome to DISboards. :welcome:

I have added your dates to the first post. Two months until July 1st, your trip is just around the corner.

I just realized that I have 2 months until the start of my July trip. I have better get my dining reservations in order!

Yes, I have figure that out too. Although I think we will probably just make a PS for Cafe Orleans this year. The boys were wanting to go to Bubba Gumps while down there so that will probably be our "big" meal. Otherwise, we go to CSs or have ice cream for meals. :)

Thanks Feathers and FunatDisney for pointing that out. That's right--we will get to see Carsland. That was one thing my youngest son wanted to experience and was sad that it wasn't going to be ready this year.

I just called in my first dinner reservations for July 1st. You can book a reservation for July 2 today. Although today is the 60 day mark.

I made a reservation for the Steakhouse 55 for dinner. I still haven't figured out what to book for Saturday yet. Disney made an announcement today that the new, Tangaroa Terrace, will open on May 25. I definitely want to try there, but I don't think it is a place I can reserve since it is a causal dining restaurant?
