July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

I have my Hubby!!!! After I posted the comment about wanting a call from him letting me know where he was, I got one! He was in Atlanta waiting his connecting flight to DC! He got in at 4:05pm yesterday and the girls and I almost tackled him near the baggage claim! No pictures of that or from dinner (We went to Joe's Crab Shack) but when we went to the zoo today, I took pictures of the girls and their Dad looking around. 4 days left until Disney!

:woohoo: I am so happy for all of you.

Welcome back!!!

I can't believe only 2 days for you:cool1:

And we plan to do some laundry if we have to change. We'll have to change, he just doesn't realize it yet!

:lmao:

Well I am back from our trip in Maine. We had a great time just relaxing and going to the lake. Now we are in Disney mode. Only a week from this Wednesday
Welcome back!!:cheer2:

I'm baaaaacccckkk! Did you miss me?? :lmao:

We got in around 3 this morning. I've been doing :laundy: like mad so DH has clean clothes for work tomorrow, looking at photopass, etc. I'm going to do a TR, but have to sit down and think about it, load pics, etc. first.

Yes, it is hot. It's FL. in July! Thurs. it started raining heavily shortly after lunch, and didn't stop until Friday morning - tropical depression. We had a few hours of a break, started again Friday around 1 and rained until 6 or so. Otherwise, not a drop!

Yes, tour groups are there. Not too bad. Take up lots of space, go to opposite attractions from them, and they do camp out really early to get good fireworks/parades spots. If you don't like singing, dancing, and cheering, they will bother you. Only had 1 instance of trying to pass. They weren't in our resort, so no problems there. Fastpass and attraction lines and parade viewing spots were the main issues, just because of their numbers.

Any other questions?

We get a free bag each with Delta, so it's not a big deal... except that we have more stuff to carry now. On the upside, I'm not on crutches, so it's less of a problem! ;)

And we plan to do some laundry if we have to change. We'll have to change, he just doesn't realize it yet!

I just finished finding and packing quarters - just for laundry!

:woohoo: I am so happy for all of you.

Taryn, you were definitely missed! Thanks for the update. We leave Tuesday - so I am in the midst of packing. Check out Nikki's FB page - she ran into a Brazilian tour group in NYC!!!

How are you able to do that? Do you have a frequent flyer perk?

:welcome: back. Can't wait to read all about it.:surfweb:

How are you able to do that? Do you have a frequent flyer perk?

No, we have the Delta/AmEx co-brand credit card. There is an annual fee, but...

-First bag free for up to eight people when you book a trip with the card (this pays for itself in one trip!)
-Double miles when you book your Delta flight with the CC
-Can use a "pay with miles" option when making arrangements (usually ends up around $100 for ever 10k miles).

One of Delta's hubs is Detroit, so it is generally the only airline we fly. Works for us!

July 9th - Departed DFW at 6:15 AM - Arrived MCO 10:15 AM, (Remember Texas is one hour behind) Walked over to Magical Express and got right on and left within 15 minutes. Arrive at CBR at 11:00 AM and received a very warm welcome and was assigned a room immediately.

Unpacked and then called Alamo and arranged a pick up at 12:00 Noon. On time for pick up and went to Hess's Car Center and picked up a rental. Drove to
Wal-Mart and bought groceries and brought them back to the resort. Unloaded and took the car back and received a ride back to the resort. (Special deal from American Airlines. 32.00 dollars for the day, but I did not need it for a full day, needed to use it and then dump it).

Midori and I walked the property and then she crashed. (Since Midori went to bed last night at 9:30 PM and woke up at 12:00 midnight so she could start getting ready. Midori wanted to go to DTD but I asked her to take a nap and we would go swimming at the resort. Midori said ok and was out within a minute.

We will start with Magic Kingdom tomorrow, meet the Diser’s at 2 PM at Dole.

July 10th – Magic Kingdom Arrived at the gate at 8:30 AM went straight Tomorrow land and rode Space Mountain 4 times, Runaway Mountain 3 times, Splash Mountain twice. Went back to Tomorrow land and did Space Mountain, Blue line, Carousal of progress, Buzz Light year. DD wanted a Strawberry – Banana smoothie. Walk to Haunted Mansion, Small World- went back to Runaway Mountain. Acquired 2 Space, 1 Buzz, 1 Splash and 1 Runaway fast pass during the morning. Afternoon did Space, Buzz, Splash, Blue Line and Monsters Inc.

Met the Dis. group at Dole Stand in Adventure land, talked, took pictures and shared stories. (Neat People) Enjoyed the meet and greet.

Ate lunch at The Plaza Rest; DD had Turkey and Bacon Sandwich and I had Potato Soup and Ruben. All outstanding – you have to try the potato soup (Ummmmmmm!!!) with bacon, chives and grated cheddar cheese). Poured down ran for about an hour and then stopped.

Space Mountain, up graded the sound affects. Now it sounds like you are in a spaceship a through the whole ride. Splash Mountain installed a lap bar and refurbished the pad at the front of the seats (Head Pad) needed very badly, because it stunk of sour milk – OLD.

Left at 6:00 PM went back to CBR and played on the beach, rested, and watched TV. Went back to Magic Kingdom around 9:30 PM for extra hours, rode Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Blue Line, Haunted Mansion, Splash, Runway, Buzz, Indy Speedway and Pirates. Returned back to CBR at 1:00 AM. Transportation was great all through the day. Quick and timely.

May have forgotten a couple of things but enjoyed the day.

Wow, yeah, that's awesome! We're in SLC and Delta is pretty much the only ones that fly us as well. Though, we don't have a card with them.

Amazing perks though! :thumbsup2 What are the yearly fees?

We are leaving the 27-3rd...can anyone that just came back let me know how the crowds were & line wait times?? We've only been to Disney once in the summer & that was 19yrs ago for our honeymoon.:) We now have a DD(16) that is VERY Irish in every way, very fair skin, reddish hair, doesn't do the greatest in the heat. Trying to come up a plan that will suit us all. TIA!

1st bag free on Jet Blue :) So I can take 3 bags if I want to, but I think we're going to try to do it in 2. I agree with changing. He'll realize it around 7 the second day, after his run :)

Have a great trip!

Sounds like a great day, Bob. Was it crowded at Extra Magic Hours?

FYI..you don't need to book the trip with the Delta Card. I booked mine with my Disney Visa and just added the skymiles # to my reservation. I just did online check-in (we leave tomorrow morning!) and the baggage came up free.

Great update - you sure got a lot done in MK!!! Sounds like you are having a good time!

We are leaving the 27-3rd...can anyone that just came back let me know how the crowds were & line wait times?? It will be crowded with long line BUT if you use Fast Pass, take advantage of EMH - especially the late nights at MK, you will be fine. Welcome and havea great time!!!

Three days:woohoo: until we leave!!!!

Have a good Monday, everyone.

Cheers,
Indy

:cool1::thumbsup2

Well, this is the crazy day - last minute laundry, cleaning, packing, dropping the dog at "camp" and looking for lost items (DH is missing his Ipod at the moment). Probably will not be on here much today. But, in 24 hours will be at the airport!!:dance3::cheer2::cool1:

Thanks for your insight!! :) I'm so confused, thou. Some posts I read say to avoid EMH.. we have always done them in the past, but that was in Nov. & Dec.. crowds were VERY low!! :confused3 The closer the trip gets the more I am panicing!! :scared1:

Have a great trip! :)

Have a great trip! :)

We have a 17 year old and a 14 year old. EMH nights at MK are the best if you can stay late. The first hour is still very crowded, but after that it is great - even in July. We do not usually do evening EMH at the other parks - just don't find that they clear out enough. What we do though is go to the park that had EMH the day before, they can be less crowded. I have also found morning EMHs to be great anywhere!

Do the early EMHs. They are great ways to get the big things done with as little wait as possible. DH and I went to an EMH morning at MK last week and, in that hour, we did: Peter Pan twice, Pooh, Buzz Lightyear, and a couple of others (I just can't remember). Then, when they let us into other parts of the park, we were at the Haunted Mansion by 9:05 AM. We got lots of FPs for later in the day and pretty much walked on to those rides thanks to the FPs.
