July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

How are you going to tell her? We did a scavenger hunt one year.....the box at the end was filled with goodies like t-shirts, autograph book and pen, Epcot Passport, stuffed Mickey/Minnie etc..

I got the idea from another diser in this thread, I am going to do a scavenger hunt where she collects puzzle pieces off of clues, then when she puts it together it will be a picture of the Beach Club pool (that's where we are staying). I am super excited, I love surprises!!!:dance3:

That is a really cute idea!

Golf stores? We went to an outlet mall this weekend and that was where we had the best luck - they're lightweight and meant to dry quickly. There were also loads of options at the Columbia store (which you can take to mean places like LL Bean, REI, Eastern Mountain Sports). Try activewear departments in stores, too!

I buy some khaki ones at Old Navy.

My mom bought me some thin fabric shorts at Khols and I have been getting some at Old Navy as well.

My wife and I are going the swimwear route. I got a good deal on some cargo swim shorts. I cut the netting out and wear them with my regular underwear. They're great. Nice and light and they dry real fast.

My wife found some nylonish shorts that can be worn as swim wear, but double as regular shorts at Wal-Mart. She says the same thing, they are nice and light and they dry very quickly. She's even worn them over her bathing suit because she's very modest (I don't know why, she looks good to me, but it makes her feel better).

I bought some light cottony type shorts from Fashion Bug. I think I have all my clothes that I need now... I think.... :confused3 I never know. lol.

Thanks for all the great ideas, everyone. We have an Old Navy and a Kohl's basically down the street. I never even gave Old Navy a thought, because I don't go in there much. I am going to try them though. I also like the board short/swim wear idea.

I'm not a huge fan of the jersey cotton-type shorts. What I am looking for is kind of like a very, very light weight khaki kind of short. I did have two pairs, but can't remember where I got them. One I had to throw out because it was black and I got bleach on it. The other is such a light beige that if it gets wet, it gets see through. Yuck lol

My little girls asked me where I am stashing all the disney stuff for our trip LOL. I told them in the black suitcase at the foot of my bed, and they were like oh cool so it won't get lost LOL.

I get my park shorts from Kohl's and Target. I have really lightweight khaki, white, and olive colored ones. I do have a few denim pairs that I will wear at night.

Today, I went to the mall with my mom and of course, we had to go to the Disney Store. We were looking at the summer partyware they are selling and commented on how the silverware set would match the dishes/plates I've bought at World of Disney. The CM heard us talking and asked about our next trip and we told her we were staying at Pop. She then told me that she is going on her next trip in November and staying at Pop but had never been, so we got to tell her all about it.

Hi!

I recently made a disney order for a D23 women polo shirt size large. As I had to return since it was too big, I had problems. I won't go into details. The point is, I was sent a replacement and told to give the extra one to a charity of my choice.

I am looking for a deserving child and the childs mother, whom you think would deserve it. Please share the back story.

Since I live in the Montreal area, I would love to be able to spread the joy of Disney with someone in the area.

But anyone in Canada would be great.

Thank you for helping me bring a smile to someone's face. And maybe ease the pain!

I think we might be insane, but we're heading down July 4th weekend (July 1-4) for a quick trip. Stupid hotel discounts sucked me in! We always seem to end up going in July each year and then each year, I swear I will never do that again! Oh well! Looking forward to celebrating with tons of ridiculously hot (and not in a good way) insane people like us!

July 1-4
All Star Music

:welcome:

I am having the hardest time finding lightweight shorts. Everything out there seems to be denim, denim, denim. It's getting frustrating! Any ideas where I could go?

Last time we were in WDW in July it rained most days for a bit. Not too bad. We were always soaked anyway...ewww....LOL

I am goign to say KOHLs too. I bought some very light weight capri pants that I am going to wear. I love them because they have so many pockets too:goodvibes

. She's even worn them over her bathing suit because she's very modest (I don't know why, she looks good to me, but it makes her feel better).

Awe...what a sweet husband:goodvibes

Do you think you could possible post a picture of these shorts? They sound perfect for Kali Rapids.

They look a lot like these. If that link doesn't work, go to walmart.com and search swimwear, go to ladies and look for the Catalina board shorts. That may not be the exact ones she got, but they're very close.

My brother and his wife along with our parents, myself and my husband are all surprising the kids with an 8 night trip to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. We were one of the lucky ones to receive free dining during this time! We frequent Disney, but always stick with the value resorts. I have only stayed at Caribbean Beach one time before, 7 years ago. So, I am pretty excited to go back. Just as long as I can contain the excitement around the kids :yay:

We will be there July 25th-August 2nd :cool1:

Welcome to the July Disney Park visitors.

Ummm....hate to side with your "DH" but he could be correct. It just depends on what you are used to wearing. :lmao: My DH wore jeans every single day that we were there last time. He NEVER wears shorts. He was perfectly fine. I know I had some knit skorts which people say ugh too also because of extra layer of fabric but they were so comfortable when I tried them on. I did, however, also have jean shorts.

Then again I'm the insane one that when people complailn about FL heat/humidity I keep thinking "it's really NOT that much different than what we have in Illinois"....I think they think I'm nuts but I really can't tell the difference. Hot is hot & when you have the heat index warning here, I feel pretty much the same as I felt in FL.

Yeah, but, I do KNOW him. And he'll complain because of rubbing issues. And then complain because they're heavy. And we'll have to not see as much because he's being DUMB.

Saturday, here in Michigan, our heat index hit 101. I assure you, I complain about it as much here as I do in Florida! :rotfl:

It did do torrential downpours in the afternoon last time we were there but somehow we were always magically inside of a building when they happened. Not even intentionally!! Just worked out that way (except for Downtown Disney insanity).

I do wear long pants on the drive down mostly because sitting in the car that long bugs my legs otherwise (I have fabric seats and it can get to be annoying to me).

I have this problem on 2 hour plane rides, so I know what you mean. I think I usually end up wearing capris or sitting on my sweater. Which, I think, is not what I'm supposed to use the sweater for! :confused3

Four weeks and six days!

This will be my DD's (6) first trip to the World. I would like to get her an autograph book. Can I buy any old ordinary autograph book and bring it with me? Or are the ones at the parks special in some way? I was just at Target this morning and saw journals featuring a mickey mouse cover that was $5.99. Good idea? What have all you frequent visitors done?

Thanks for the link. Those are cute and inexpensive. I for see a trip to Walmart to check if they have them.

They do have some cool ones at the parks and I think i saw them at our local Disney Store. I bought the girls the books with a signature on one side and a place for a picture on the other..it was a cool way for them to see the picture of them with the Character that signed. One hint though, make sure you bring an over-sized pen or some of the characters have a tough time holding them.

The characters will sign any book, pillow case, hat, etc as long as your not wearing it. But we also get the book for autographs and pictures they hold 15 autographs each (app). The official one a WDW without the pictures is either 6.95 or 7.95. For this year I have 2011 Autograph Photo books, WDW 40th Anniversary Autograph and Photo album, and the Princesses Autograph and Photo Album. They were anywhere from 12.95 to 15.95 each. I ordered them when Disney had free shipping and it took about 10 days to get here.
