July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

I had a very intense dream last night that we were AT DISNEY --- but I'd forgotten to print all of my planning cards - so i didn't know when to go to what parks - didn't have my ADR's with me to what restaurants to eat at; and I didn't have any of my other fun "stuff" printed out - or t-shirts made; :scared1:

and the worst part!!??? Splash mountain didn't have "logs" anymore - but these strange looking lounge chair things... :headache:

I'm so weird!!!! :lmao:

:lmao: Luckily I really haven't had any for this trip so far. Not sure if that is good or bad:confused3

It is a light purple, and it has my maiden name on it!

I gave my DH the packing cubes I mentioned earlier for his Birthday. He loves the idea of being able to pull them out and put them in the drawers without having to unpack everything individually. So, I ended up ordering more of them since what I bought wasn't quite as big as I expected. But, they still should work great.

I would love to have a light purple one. I am sick of the blue KTTW cards. When are they going to change them to a new color.:rotfl:

Since there will be that many of us at the meet, I think we can forget the idea of small gifts. Just having fun together will be enough ;)

That's fine. It will be neat to meet everyone.

So, I'm scrolling up backwards since it's been a while and I see my name...at least I'm assuming I'm the Becky you are talking about!! :lmao:

Ours is actually a private Illuminations Dessert party...so Illuminations & desserts are correct just not on a boat. I don't do well on water so that wouldn't make me happy (I would be jittery the whole time! I put on a fake smile and survive for the kids but umm..wouldn't go out of my way to be on a boat/raft/water vehicle of any type).

:wave2: Yes it was you I was thinking of. :lmao:

I had an intense dream about Disney the other night, too! DH and I were on our way and 2 of my friends surprised us at the airport and said, "We're coming on your trip with you!" And the first thing I thought was, 'But all of our ADRs are for TWO people!!!!!!' :scared1:

I woke up in a cold sweat, I kid you not.

:lmao:

My brother and I (mind you, I'm 34 and he's 32 and we live about 12 hours apart) are kind of in to "All Disney, all the time" when we communicate. However, he got lucky - like, 2 miles of lucky - with the tornadoes that went through western MA last week. His house didn't have power for a few days, but it's so much better than what too many people he knew had to deal with. It's a reminder of how lucky we are to be able to go to Disney!

 That was really scary last week. We are in RI and were under tornado warnings too and my cousin lives in Uxbridge but luckily he had no damage to his area.

I booked through Disney last year for the Military discount too and we got all the perks everyone else got...Arcade card, ect. Of course we never made it to the arcade lol

I booked through a TA in another state this time though so I'm getting anxious as to when we will get our stuff in the mail.

The best thing are the luggage tags - I hope they are still doing those. It is like getting a souvenir before you go!

5 weeks and a day, here! We generally don't pack until the night before, either. It's like pulling teeth with my husband... but I've started my usual "bag of stuff we won't use between now and then," like sunblock. And my extra baseball hats. Oh, and rain ponchos.

Is it truly likely to rain every day? If so, I'm going to pick up a few more of those disposable rain ponchos (we have a total of 7 for 6 days).

Glad to hear your brother is ok. My nephew had a near miss in Alabama last month too - we are very blessed.

As for the rain, we went several years and somehow avoided the rain, but the last few trips we have encountered some big rain. Last year it poured almost every day for long periods (this was around 4th of July). Our ponchos finally gave out and we will need to buy new ones this year - but we are going to wait till we get there and we need them. I am hoping it is a dry trip! :rotfl:

I'm not sure yet, but I have to get a medical procedure done in the hospital on 6/29, so either right before or right after that. Last day of school here is 6/24, so I'm definitely waiting until after that.

How many are there altogether? I like the one per family idea someone else mentioned, too :)

Good luck with your procedure!

Hi! We will be at Poly 7/27 - 7/31 and SSR 7/31-8/5!party:

Welcome! We have a list of ADRs - if you would like to be included just post them and I will add them to the list on page 74.

I like the idea of one per family!

Good idea!

That works! We just need a final family count!

Pretty close to where my parents live! They never lost power so I got frequent updates from them. Thankfully! (I'd gone down for an unusual post-work nap and woke up and saw the news about tornadoes, but when I got to my email, my mom had already sent me an update! Hooray!)

Dry? ;) I mean, it's Florida in July! I think even if the clouds don't spit on us, I think the atmosphere will be enough to get us all soaked. Hehehe.

I counted, yesterday. We have 7 disposable rain ponchos for 2 people for technically 6 days. Husband thinks that's enough. I just don't know!! (some of them we bought, um, in 2001 for that trip to Disney :rolleyes1 )

And, today? FIVE WEEKS! I HAVE FIVE WEEKS TO GO! The number of weeks is countable on one hand! ;) And I made the airport shuttle arrangements.

Survived 101F heat index in Michigan on Saturday. It wasn't as bad as I thought, except there were a lot fewer people. It also reminds me that I should get a few more items of clothing. We were at an outlet mall and spent much of the time arguing with DH about, well, clothes. He thinks jean shorts and heavy khaki shorts will be JUST FINE. We compromised, though, so neither of us ended up happy! ;)

Oh, one more question: is there a need to pack pants? We're not eating anywhere "nice", we're not going to a super-cold movie theater or anything!

You are right - Florida in July is never "dry" - lol!! I think you probably have plenty of ponchos, unless it is super rainy. Worse case, you can always buy a Disney poncho.

I try to buy lighter weight shorts for Disney, unfortunately - I also have a lot of jean shorts and some days I just tough it out.

I never take long pants anymore. We are going to a few "nicer" restaurants and I am taking capris for those - but I think dressy shorts would even work. I took a pair of jeans the first few times in the summer and never wore them. I even went to a movie in DTD last summer in shorts and was fine.

I buy very light weight shorts for Disney. Heavy fabric and I do not meld well when there is heat going on.

I don't think you'll need to pack pants, even the evenings were hot last year.

I think we might be insane, but we're heading down July 4th weekend (July 1-4) for a quick trip. Stupid hotel discounts sucked me in! We always seem to end up going in July each year and then each year, I swear I will never do that again! Oh well! Looking forward to celebrating with tons of ridiculously hot (and not in a good way) insane people like us!

I just bought some misting fans to deal a bit with the heat! I cannot believe I am alomost to the 1 month mark (one month in 2 days!!!). DD& still has no clue, I cannot wait to surprise her;)

I am having the hardest time finding lightweight shorts. Everything out there seems to be denim, denim, denim. It's getting frustrating! Any ideas where I could go?

Last time we were in WDW in July it rained most days for a bit. Not too bad. We were always soaked anyway...ewww....LOL

Golf stores? We went to an outlet mall this weekend and that was where we had the best luck - they're lightweight and meant to dry quickly. There were also loads of options at the Columbia store (which you can take to mean places like LL Bean, REI, Eastern Mountain Sports). Try activewear departments in stores, too!

My mom bought me some thin fabric shorts at Khols and I have been getting some at Old Navy as well.

Ummm....hate to side with your "DH" but he could be correct. It just depends on what you are used to wearing. :lmao: My DH wore jeans every single day that we were there last time. He NEVER wears shorts. He was perfectly fine. I know I had some knit skorts which people say ugh too also because of extra layer of fabric but they were so comfortable when I tried them on. I did, however, also have jean shorts.

Then again I'm the insane one that when people complailn about FL heat/humidity I keep thinking "it's really NOT that much different than what we have in Illinois"....I think they think I'm nuts but I really can't tell the difference. Hot is hot & when you have the heat index warning here, I feel pretty much the same as I felt in FL.

It did do torrential downpours in the afternoon last time we were there but somehow we were always magically inside of a building when they happened. Not even intentionally!! Just worked out that way (except for Downtown Disney insanity).

I do wear long pants on the drive down mostly because sitting in the car that long bugs my legs otherwise (I have fabric seats and it can get to be annoying to me).

Does anyone use the Baggallini Urban for the parks? I can get one for a tad more than $40 on amazon.

Have not tried that one - but Amazon does seem to have the best prices on Baggallini......

Welcome! We were there last July 4th, really did not think the crowds were too bad at all.

I just bought some misting fans to deal a bit with the heat! I cannot believe I am alomost to the 1 month mark (one month in 2 days!!!). DD& still has no clue, I cannot wait to surprise her;)

How are you going to tell her? We did a scavenger hunt one year.....the box at the end was filled with goodies like t-shirts, autograph book and pen, Epcot Passport, stuffed Mickey/Minnie etc.

I was having the same problem, glad you asked! I have seen the ones at the sporting goods stores but they are more than I wanted to spend.

My wife and I are going the swimwear route. I got a good deal on some cargo swim shorts. I cut the netting out and wear them with my regular underwear. They're great. Nice and light and they dry real fast.

My wife found some nylonish shorts that can be worn as swim wear, but double as regular shorts at Wal-Mart. She says the same thing, they are nice and light and they dry very quickly. She's even worn them over her bathing suit because she's very modest (I don't know why, she looks good to me, but it makes her feel better).

I bought some light cottony type shorts from Fashion Bug. I think I have all my clothes that I need now... I think.... :confused3 I never know. lol.

I honestly cannot remember what type of shorts I wore last year. I'll have to get out the pictures to find out. I'm pretty sure I have at least one pair of jean shorts.
