July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

Did they change it again? I just checked and All Ears has it scheduled to be open June 1. Of course, that is tentative and it could have changed.

Apparently the did, then again it could change again right? I'm so looking forward to going to see the birds sing again. I duno why YDD likes the birds more then the bears...could be because the birds are everywhere and lots of movement/lights and the bears is like a stage show.:confused3

Thank you! Do you know what time the show is on the 3rd and 4th?

I'm sorry, I do not. I know when I was there in 2008, it was at 9:00 on the 3rd. I am sort of hoping it is that time again because I planned a dinner at 1900 Park Fare based on that time.

I've been trying to figure out the fireworks schedule for the 3rd and 4th too. I have ADR's at the California Grill for 9:30 on the 3rd (it was the earliest I could get for my party size) and I think I'll end up missing the fireworks. :(

Maybe I can give them a call later this morning and just check-see. I'll let ya know if I find anything out. On another note, we've got 5:40 reservations at Kona Cafe for the 3rd, but I just read on AE yesterday that the Poly gives a 3 hour parking permit for non-resort guests. Does anyone know if that's correct? Cause we'd miss the fireworks with such an early ADR. Maybe I'll check to see if we can still get that one at Ohana for 8:40. . . . hmm, what to do, what to do.

Park at the TTC and take the monorail to the poly. Although I'm not sure what their parking policy is there. It's worth a shot though right?

The heat and the crowds for July have me REALLY worried...

I think I'm trying to change my mindset to a "whatever, whenever" but I'm not sure how well it's going to work! I mean, I've been to Disney half a trillion times (slight exaggeration) sooooooo I should be able to motor back, right? :rotfl:

(especially if I'm still dealing with my leg injury!)

Have people ever treated it like a beach vacation? You know, sleep in, eat breakfast, spend some time by the pool, and go in to a park whenever?

Ok...I just hung up the phone with Disney. I asked about the fireworks times at MK on the 3rd and the 4th. The CM looked it up and told me it was 9PM for both nights and the MSEP was at 10PM. I asked, "Isnt that a little backwards?" and she replied that she thought it was wierd too. She put me on hold for a few minutes so she could look into it further and when she came back she said that without a doubt, the fireworks at MK are scheduled for 9PM both nights. I'm going to keep trying to change my ADR for California Grill...hopefully I will get luck and somebody will cancel.

Thanks for the information. I do remember the parade being after the fireworks when I was there before too on those dates. So, that sounds about right. I hope you can get the ressie you need!

Don't be worried about the heat. I despise heat, and I don't mind it. And, yes, my husband and I sleep in and just go whenever. We manage. It may not be "ideal" for others... but we don't mind. :)

Brilliant! Thank you!! :woohoo: Of course, I had to figure out what the TTC was first

I'm so sorry! I should have specified in my reply to you now I feel like a :o

TTC is the Ticket and Transportation Center. If I remember correctly the first stop for the Monorail when you leave there is the Poly but I dont exactally remember :confused3 My brain is on fry right now after making a new list of things to buy for this trip :rotfl2:

Since we have been doing longer trips to Disney - we do sleep in a little more, and spend more time at the pool. There have even been a day or two we have not gone to a park!

Honestly, I do not think the crowds are all that terrible in July - we have experienced much worse the week before Easter. This will be my 5th July trip - and two of those have been over July 4th - and I still say it seems empty in comparison to a few of those Easters.....

I always think to myself... "Hey, it's worse at Christmas"... hehe. Yeah, I mean, it is obviously more crowded than the slow times. But, we never feel like it is so overwhelming that we can't move. The actual day of July 4th in the evening when it is firework time is a different story. That is why those of us who "know" watch them on the 3rd! :goodvibes

I, personally, love that about longer trips. It's so nice to have relaxing time to do nothing and SHOP! :rotfl: oh, you can tell where my mind always is! :lmao:

Also, the crowds in July are NOTHING compared to the week before Easter! It's like sardines! That is when we have always taken our band trips to WDW. From Palm Sunday on it was almost unbearable at any of the parks. So if crowds are worrying you, just think...it could be much worse! :goodvibes

Another option for parking at the TTC is to walk to the Poly instead of taking the monorail. It's a beautiful walkway to take in the Poly along the way. I've always loved that walk from TTC to Poly. Unless of course the July heat has you to the point you just can't walk anymore! I don't think it's a long walk.

I've read rumors before about wristbands being handed out to Poly guests, and that they check them at the pool and on the beach, but only at extremely busy/holiday times. I don't know if July 3rd or 4th would qualify for that. :confused3 It's never been done while I was there, but that's in January. Again, it's rare, but it has been mentioned. If that is the case, you could always try another beach there. It's always the main one by the volcano pool / Ceremonial House where everyone hangs out, and the music is piped in.

Anyway, hope you are able to get the ADR you are looking for there!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to struggle with the acronyms! I've even searched for a thread that explains them, to no avail, so I just figure them out on my own! Took me FOREVER to figure out what MNSSHP was! :rotfl:

Taking a little break from a VERY stressful day at work to share a thought :surfweb:

My DD princess: woke up in the middle of the night last night, she'd had a "bad dream". Of course, her "bad dreams" usually consist of something like "I was at school, and I was wearing a green dress, and I wanted to wear a blue dress" :scared1: She's quite dramatic sometimes. Anyway, she of course came in my room and told me about her bad dream. She said "we were at Disney World, and it started raining" So of course I had to explain to her that in July it will probably rain, but it will actually help to keep us cool! My poor DD now thinks it's going to rain all day, every day we're there. I guess we'll have to have a few more talks in the days leading up to our trip!

:hippie:

Actually, the TTC is the stop just before the Poly - the order is MK - Contemporary - TTC - Poly - Grand Floridian - MK.......
