July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

Do you mean three character meals in one day?

Yes. 'Ohana just before 8, CRT at 1 and Crystal Palace at 7:15. This is the only day we'll be in MK vicinity before 5:00 pm, so I can't do any of them another time. I don't know how I missed that in planning everything, but I'm not going to go back and try to change stuff now. It was fine with 'Ohana and CP in the one day, but when we changed to DxDDP, I added the CRT.

Does anyone know if Via Napoli has a take out window? I could swear I read that some where and now I can't find the information. I want to try their pizza but don't want to do an ADR.

I heard that VN had a pizza window at Easter vacation time. I don't know if that was permanant or a holiday thing.

I :lovestruc my Kindle !

You've got to tell us all about it! Glad she had a good birthday. BTW, if you find a red Mickey croc or DVD player while you are looking, mail it to me, I'll do the same if I find a purple shoe!

It wasn't me looking for the purple shoe (this time! It happens in my house all the time, how hard is it to take 2 shoes off in the same place???) but if I find either of those, I will let you know!!

On a side note, I thought our portable DVD player was gone for soooo long that I finally went and bought another one. About a month later the first one showed up! We use it because my inlaws live a few hours away and it's nice for dd when we have to go there.

One week one week one week!!!!!

 :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:

Hubby was on his way but flight got cancelled, so hoping for better news tonight! So might be 2 sleeps until I see him, but might now be 3 sleeps.... gotta love the military ... actually it is probably a sand storm or something. Darn sand!

But regardless, it will be SOON and I cannot wait!!!!!!!:love::love::love:

That stinks! Sorry to hear that. I know how much you are looking forward to it :)

Ohh.. yeah. We've changed stuff SO much... *headdesk*

If you change yours, we'll have to say hi or something!! Bit nervous about trying VN. Seen so many negative reviews, but then I see the menu and then some good reviews, and get excited. Liked the picture I saw of it too. Not overly fancy, but not CS either. :)

I'm tired of changing stuff myself. I swore I wasn't going to look at my ADR's until the day I print everything out. So far, I'm trying to stay away. I did look yesterday, hence noticing the 3 character meals/day. But I didn't change anything, it's too late. I'm not finding times to make it worth it for me and I did promise more down time this trip. I don't like that! LOL

We ate at VN on our last trip and really enjoyed it. I don't remember what everyone exactly had, but I know dd had pizza, a friend had some kind of eggplant and DH had (I think) lasagna of some kind. They all enjoyed their food, no one complained about anything.

I started talking a 30 min walk in the morning. Might switch to 30 min on the treadmill at the resort. Anyone else planning on TRYING to keep a healthy exercise routine on the trip?

I figure the 4 - 5 miles walking a day and the trudging through the waterparks and the swimming every day should just about do it for me :)
I am going to try to go for salad and grilled chicken or something slightly on the healthy side for lunches. And probably go more for fruit and skip on pasteries and breads at the breakfasts. We're eating some breakfasts in the room, too. I ordered some fruit and cereal, water, etc. from a grocery delivery service.

What's dinner? CP? If your DD is like mine, during character meals they are so excited to see the characters that they don't eat much, so she'll be fine! I am missing a lot of MK mornings this year, which I loved last year. We did a lot of pm EMH's at different parks, and mornings at MK. This year, we are doing mornings in different parks, and nights at MK since it's open fairly late every night and we can just walk back to BLT!
Somehow i missed this is my last post. Yes, dinner is at CP and no, she doesn't eat that much during character meals. I'm just thinking that is an awful lot of characters in a day for us, not her LOL

We've never done too many evening EMH, but we are going to try for some this trip. That's why we don't have any great plans for mornings. When we stayed at CR, we spent more time at MK than we ever have. We usually split most of our time between MK and Epcot anyway, with a day at DHS thrown in. We don't care for AK and wouldn't do it in the summer, anyway.

Well talked to my DH and tonight's flight was cancelled too :( Hoping tomorrow works out!

As long as he is home by July 4th we will be ok ... don't want to miss any Disney days!!! And he gets 15 days leave no matter what... so if he comes in late, he stays here later. But I do have things planned for the 5 days he is home before Disney.

Anyway, it is what it is and cannot change anything so now just wait and see ....

:lmao: I love the name of your trip report!!

Thanks! My oldest hates it and doesn't understand why I think it's so funny. I really need to force her to sit through credits where they use live animals in the movie.

I just realized that we are doing three character meals on 7/24  Then I realized that 7/24 is the only full day we're spending at MK, so it's the only time I'll get lunch at CRT or breakfast at 'Ohana's.

That's what I get for telling DH that we'd do waterparks 2 days this trip and more pool time :( It all took away from our MK days. No one's fault but my own, I did all the planning :confused3.

Oh well, it'll definitely be a different kind of trip, that's for sure:thumbsup2
What about MK EMH's in the evening?
I'm doing a PTR right now, I'll be doing a TR after I actually take my trip XD I don't have much to update it due to other crazyness in life, but as soon as that cools off I'll be able to update it more :)

WHEW!!!!! :faint: I am exhausted! Today was the big moving day. All our big stuff went down and we're back up here to clean/small misc. packing for 3 days before we're officially out.
Lol camping out in the living room on sofa cushions! Of course we are holding onto internet until the last day of june :woohoo:

Blah, long day.

Oh! And we got our Magical Express packet :) I remember getting a full folder 3 years ago with more papers and stuff in it, now it's just an envelope :confused3
By the way, does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade from your resort to a different resort a week away from the trip?
I'm wanting to surprise DH with a rresort upgrade if we don't get the job in Japan and we won't find out until (latest) July 17th.
I don't know if you can without being charged a fine :confused3
Oh no!!!! I would call her today. Hopefully it will be there today.

Oh no!!! I don't know what I would do if my Kindle broke. It is nice that they are sending a new one to your mom's.
I will be going to check my mail shortly (DIS>Mail) and HOPEFULLY it will be in there
I'm really glad I got the 2 year warranty on my Kobo though and the lady I spoke to was really nice. I explained that I would be going out of town on the 4th and be gone for a good part of the summer and she said it would be no problem to have it sent there and delivered there.
One week one week one week!!!!!

That's the Army for ya...hurry up and Wait :headache: The only dates I know is when DH is "supposed" to leave his FOB and I count 3 out from that (which is the 10th) but I'm allotting for sand storms and what not so I'm hoping for no later then the 12th (especially because we fly out on the 14th!) He will be there soon though sweetie! Just look at it as a precursor to getting your blood racing for when you give your DH that long awaited first kiss:thumbsup2
Ohh.. yeah. We've changed stuff SO much... *headdesk*

What time was the Dis Meet that day?? I don't know if we'll be able to make it, I hadn't planned on it since that's when we fly in.. I figured we'd just barely make dinner. (we have extra cushion time. but still.)

If you change yours, we'll have to say hi or something!! Bit nervous about trying VN. Seen so many negative reviews, but then I see the menu and then some good reviews, and get excited. Liked the picture I saw of it too. Not overly fancy, but not CS either. :)
DISmeet on the 20th is at 4pm in the English Gardens

I'm TRYING to keep it going right now (does mowing my lawn count as walking? How bout running after my girls and cleaning up messes?) When we are there we will be walking about 7 miles a day (which to DH is nothing lol)

Flipflopmom~ I'm the one looking for the purple shoe. I will keep an eye out for a red croc though! I fear I might just end up buying her a new pair of purple shoes at Khols again though (I've even offered my older kid's 2 dollars to who ever find's that shoe!).

I need to add Beirgarten at 1:15 on the 18th. It's one place I really wanted to try but didn't want to risk being turned away as a walk up especially in July. So if you could square that away Wendy I greatly appriciate it and I'm sorry for being a pain in the rear.

Is it sad that I've started to put bag's in my car already?

I can't imagine having to wait the extra day... it's been so long. I hope there are no more delays!!! :wizard:

Okay, I think I have all the "little stuff" shopping done now. Now, to organize it all. Ugh! lol. :goodvibes

Sunday.... Sunday is just soooo close! :yay:

Gigglesgee, we will be arriving at POFQ on the same day. Make sure you say hi to my spirit! It is strong, and you will feel it! :rotfl:

We have never stayed there before, and I am looking forward to it sooo much!

I'm very excited.....I've never saw WDW or anypart of it before....only in pictures. I'm sure you'll feel my spirit as well......BEAMING!!!!!

Only 27 more days here!!!

Anyone heard anything about crowd levels or temps lately?

oh, I love when people go for the first time! I wish I could do that again... it is just so magical. I loved taking my DH there for his first time! If you have questions, just stand in the middle of the resort and yell "Wintershawl." I'll come... maybe. Or, someone will... security maybe?

HA HA....either was I'm guaranteed assistance. LOL! :rotfl:

I haven't been on for a while so I am trying to catch up on everyone's posts. Man this thread flies fast, I think I had to read about a dozen pages:surfweb: And of course I thought I was checking the little boxes in the corner so I can post replies, but nothing showed up. I will try to go back and click again.

Life has been busy, we are just under 3 weeks away from our trip and all getting very excited. Since there are 15 of us going and staying at an offsite house we had a meeting last Monday just to get an idea of who is packing what. Since there are 3 cars going down we have room to bring a bunch of food stuff from home so we met to organize that kind of stuff. We also shared pins and little gifts that we have planned for the girls!!

The first Sunday we are there we have reservations at 1900 Park Fare for dinner. The girls do not know about this yet. With help from the DISigners I have created invitations and autograph books that we will give them in the morning. In the afternoon we plan on doing our own version of BBB at the house. Since we have 6 girls going the real BBB would get costly plus 2 of the adults going are licensed beauticians.

Speaking of beauticians, I had my mom (who is going and is a beautician) come over last night and dye my hair for me. Nothing to drastic, pretty much my natural color just wanted to color the grays that have been coming in, didn't want them in any of my Disney pictures!!!!:rotfl2:

I have also created little goodie bags for the girls with Welcome Letters from the Princesses (again with help from the DISigners) that they will get when we arrive.

I will try to post pictures of everything as soon as I figure Photobucket out.

At the meeting I brought up that I really wanted to do an early morning breakfast in MK so I can get that great experience that everyone posts in their TR about being able to walk down Main Street pretty much by themselves. So with help from all of you we finally decided on an 8:10am reservation at Crystal Palace on Sunday, July 24th!!!!:banana: I am so excited, and hopefully we will be able to leave breakfast and go right over to the Tangled M&G! Thank you again to everyone who posted their reviews of CP & CM, you made it so easy to choose!

Now for my issues:
1. I finally got my boss to approve my vacation. Since it is over 2 weeks I will be gone he wants me to bring in a temp for coverage (it's just him and I in the office). I have never hired a temp before and don't know where to start. So now with 3 weeks left, I need to hire a temp and train them before I leave.

2. DH is not going to Disney, we knew this from the start. It's a long story and if I ever do a PTR or TR I may get into it. But since he is not going his ex-wife will not allow me to take their daughter (my step daughter) who is 11. Well the 11yo lives in KY with her mother and this week is home on vacation to visit us. So since she is home my DH does not want anything Disney discussed, planned, purchased, mentioned, etc. Which I completely understand because I don't want to upset her. We originally told her she was going and then had to tell her she wasn't, again big drama. So again with 3 weeks out I can't do anything for the trip. Of course I am doing stuff on my lunch at work (like now) and after we put the girls to bed. It just feels like I am falling behind.

Sorry for the long post and venting. I guess I should have started a PTR and I could have laid all of this out on there instead of clogging up this thread.

Tinkerbell60: Exactly what I was thinking. I eat A LOT more than I usually do back home in the parks. And since I've been working hard on myself, I don't want to gain that much, or loose the routine I've been working hard on, you know. I know we walk a lot in the parks, but I feel like my sugar and calorie intake is soooooo much more than usual lol

Well talked to my DH and tonight's flight was cancelled too :( Hoping tomorrow works out!

We're going to be trying EMH, but DH wants to do CRT for lunch if we are doing it, because he wants the major domo pie. As far as I know, it's only served at lunch, so we can't do it any other day. The same with 'Ohana breakfast. DD loves that, but since we're staying at the BW, we aren't going to be near the Poly in the morning any day but that one.

It's going to be fine, because no matter what we do, dd will have fun:)

Sunday.... Sunday is just soooo close! :yay:

Yes it is!!!!!!

It's going to go fast now, for all of us!

DH is home from work and in about 15 minutes or so I will hide the clues and start the treasure hunt. I'm so excited to tell!

Haven't heard but I just saw a weather map and a lot of rain over Florida - hope that stops soon!

I agree, it would be wonderful to do a first visit over again!!!

I laughed so hard when I read about standing and calling out your name - it was a great mental picture! :lmao:

Same here, hope I can maintain!

Okay, I can now officially go to Disney with no worries. My school called me today to let me know that there is an opening in the Middle School Math Department if I wanted it. Okay, Middle School can be iffy for me at times (I prefer HS), but I know I can handle it. Soooooo... I am now officially not laid off! (not that it looks any different because I am on summer vacation anyway!)....

I am sooooo happy!! :banana::teacher::banana:

P.S. Can we not have any more scares like this? My heart can't handle it.

I added Biergarten for you - I really like it there! Do not apologize, you are not a pain in the rear. No, it is not sad that the bags are in the car!!!

WHEW is right!!! My guess is that upgrade would definitely be possible IF there is availablity. Might want to start checking early for rooms so you don't get your hopes up! I have heard that things sometimes do come open 30 days out since people can't come up with that final payment!
Haha yeah, and we still need to fly out early on the 1st for the interview! I think I'm going to go bald with pulling out all my hair! lol

I did check online with rooms, just checking the dates and such and as of now, there are rooms available. Though, that could change when I find out if I can upgrade us or not.

I don't know if you can without being charged a fine :confused3
Hrm, do you know why I would be charged a fine? I have already paid in full and the resort I'm looking at is just a bit more than what we have paid, I assume we would pay the difference.
Do you think we would get charged a fine for changing at the last minute or something?

So again with 3 weeks out I can't do anything for the trip. Of course I am doing stuff on my lunch at work (like now) and after we put the girls to bed. It just feels like I am falling behind.

I'm really sorry to hear that your stepdaughter can't come (sad that her mother won't let her).
As for the falling behind, don't fret, really, don't fret. All you can do is go with the flow of life and deal with what comes up.
I'm in a similar situation with moving, a huge interview in another state and getting everything settled in our new place. I probably won't be able to work on anything further with disney stuff until 2 weeks out.
I understand the frustration and falling behind, I feel like that too. But what can we do? We have other things on our plate.
Try writing stuff down when you have an idea or something you need to do, but can't do it at that moment. I've been doing that and it's been helping my sanity like you wouldn't believe :rotfl:

I hope it all turns out well for you in the end :)

That is great news!! :thumbsup2

Of course she had picked Rapunzel and there is no way she can slip it on over the cast so had to order a sleeveless Tinkerbell. She gets the pins out the day before vacation but will be in a different cast for 2 weeks after that..
Aww... how sweet of you to do that for her. Hoping she handles it all well.

I started talking a 30 min walk in the morning. Might switch to 30 min on the treadmill at the resort. Anyone else planning on TRYING to keep a healthy exercise routine on the trip?
I'm going to air my dirty laundry here. I was running 3-5 miles three times a week and sticking to a strict 1200 calorie diet when we went. I tried to make the healthiest chioces available, sometimes, but we were on the DxDP. I took my running clothes with every intention of running, but, honestly, it was sooo hot, I just couldn't do it, even at 5am. I don't do treadmills. Honestly, I gained 12 pounds!:scared1: It was awful! So, if you can fit in something to get your heart rate up, you'll be better off. I tried to justify my walking, and yes, you are moving, but in order to burn calories it has to be faster than park navigating!

:thumbsup2 That's for sure! Or if you are like me -- you spend YEARS researching your first trip -- you go & then 99% of what you read falls out of your brain & you can't remember anything.
I took so many notes!!!! Then I sent it to my ipod, and DH's, and printed it out... It was so funny!

Hee! It's all been stressful recently, so I try to remember the positive. Like, SEVEN MORE WORK DAYS!
:cool1::yay:

Wow - so soon!!!! If I remember, you drive straight through right? What I do when we drive down is pack a carry on with everyone's clothes and pjs for one night (since we stay over somewhere) and that usually works well. That might work for you for your night at AKL.... When and what time are you leaving? , I am going to bring work out clothes and might add some gym time at the resort.
Yes, we do. We are leaving Thurs. around 7pm or so. We'll have to do some gas stops, but that's it. We have one bag with clothes to put on the girls when we get there, and that night, and then the next morning before we check out and head to BLT. And toiletries, and swim clothes, and...... It gets complicated!!! I am excited, but nervous about forgetting something. We decided that if it's the happiest place on Earth, why do we have to take everything with us from here?????:confused3

Flipflopmom... thanks for sharing your story about school. I received my MBA before I had kids and couldn't even think about going back to school now. DH might start working on his masters soon, but in RI luckily it is still not a requirement yet for teachers. However he is still deciding on what. He might do Guidance as he already has a BS in Management and Mathematics.
It's CRAZY!!!!! We don't have it as a requirement either, but I thought it might come, why not do it when it's free. Guidance would be a good thing, anything he can do to add to his list!

It wasn't me looking for the purple shoe (this time! It happens in my house all the time, how hard is it to take 2 shoes off in the same place???) but if I find either of those, I will let you know!!
I'm tired of changing stuff myself. I swore I wasn't going to look at my ADR's until the day I print everything out.
sorry about getting the shoes confused, but there is a lot going on here! :) I changed an ADR yesterday. More details to follow...

Well talked to my DH and tonight's flight was cancelled too :( Hoping tomorrow works out!

Sending prayers he gets to leave tomorrow. Can only imagine how frustrating that must be!

I FOUND A BROWN BOOT I couldnt' find this winter. But no red or purple. :headache: Sorry about the mix up! Hope your Mickey mail will be there!

I'm very excited.....I've never saw WDW or anypart of it before....only in pictures. I'm sure you'll feel my spirit as well......BEAMING!!!!!
:cloud9: You will love it!!

Anyone heard anything about crowd levels or temps lately?

Read a post this am that said, essentially, hot, crowded, and the tour groups have arrived. :scared1: Welcome to July in WDW!

COLOR="Purple"]Now for my issues:

You aren't clogging the thread!!! Vent away! You have really been busy! So sorry you have all this hanging on you. Poor step daughter, and you, for dealing with all this!!! It will make WDW feel that much sweeter. That's how I felt with all my Master's degree stuff hanging over my shoulder!

UGH! It's going to be fine, because no matter what we do, dd will have fun:)DH is home from work and in about 15 minutes or so I will hide the clues and start the treasure hunt. I'm so excited to tell!
That's exactly right. It'll all go away in WDW! I can't wait to hear about DD's reaction!

Okay, I can now officially go to Disney with no worries. My school called me today to let me know that there is an opening in the Middle School Math Department if I wanted it.
:dance3::yay::woohoo:

Husbands coming home, new jobs, job interviews.... it's all so exciting. And then, we all have WDW!!!!! :woohoo:

Well, haven't gotten as much accomplished as I wanted, but honestly, I am so burned out from stressing to get all the school work done in the last month, I am just drained. Last load of :laundy: in, stuff for room packed, park bag, stroller bag, snacks, all packed, batteries checked in fans, rewards and visa debits activated, Dh cashing in change now, still miles to go.

DH and I were trying to nail down our touring plans. With the crowds next week, we know that a plan is going to be important to get things done. We were trying to figure out how to get in Soarin and TT, while getting as many FP's for later, and still make Akershus at 10:30. We checked the website, and there was a 8:05 ADR!!!!! On the 4th of July!!!! Before 9am Rope Drop!!! So excited! Hopefully, will help us bypass crowds going in, and get more done that first hour!!!
