July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

I called on 3/1 to switch from SSR to CBR, preferred room. While on the phone I asked if I had any discounts/pins, hoping for the rumored new pins. I ended up getting QS free dining. We are going to upgrade the dining, so I made ADR's for Ohana, Yak and Yeti, Sci-Fi, and LeCellier. Still need one more.

I'm hoping they add dates for the Tomorrowland Terrace Wishes Dessert Party while we are there. We loved it when we did it in January! Kids said it was the best meal ever!

We drive from PA too - airfare for four is ridiculous right now. We are near Pittsburgh. We usually do it in 2 days. Our kids are older, so we can push them a little more. Last summer we made it to the GA/FLA border on the first day. That made for a short trip on day 2.

Thanks, we are hoping the drive isn't too bad. We will probably break it up into 2 days as well. We'll see how it goes as we drive. We will only be able to leave in the afternoon. Maybe we'll drive through the night, but then we'll get there and be exhausted and the kids will be rested! Well, that's really no different than any other day!

:welcome: Definately try the EMH AM. They are not really as crowded as you would think. We usually go during April vacation when the parks are crowded and we have been able to get alot done in those early hours.

Thanks! We did decide to take advantage of EMH AM, but for the days we are there we will only get to do it 2 days at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We figure by lunchtime it will be time for a break at the pool!

Hey Tinkerbell60 I just realized we will both be at BW at exactly the same time! How cool is that!! :cool1:

Hi all! I am very new to this site, in fact my first post ever and still don't have all my stuff set up.. We have confirmed we will be going to Disney in July.. This will be mine and the kids first trip ever to Disney.. Really looking forward to it but not sure what to expect. We are leaving for Disney on July 14 and will be heading back home on July 22nd. We are driving from TX, never been in the car that long.. Any pointers for the car ride and disney itself would be greatly appreciated.. We are staying at Fort Wilderness Campground!

Welcome! :welcome: My best advice is to read the boards - lots of good information and tips. Have a plan, but be flexible. How many kids and what ages? My kids are older, and the DVD player, Ipods, and DS games help with the car ride. We have a 16 hour drive.... Ask questions!!!!

We are looking at an 18 hour drive.. YUCK, but I know it will be so worth it. It will be me, Dh, MIL, FIL, 2-9 yr olds, 1 - 7 yr old and 1 -6 yr old! I have been reading the boards for the last 2 weeks almost daily.. All the information seems soooo overwhelming!

Don't try to rush your drive down there! Make sure your kiddo's have lots to do (DVD's, game boys, coloring books, snacks, blankets and pillows to nap with) and take pictures on the way down you might find something really intresting you never know!

@ Disney, Dont' try to see everything in one trip. Take breaks to go back to your resort and relax! Since your staying @ the FWC take advantage of the smore roast with Chip and Dale (I havent done it yet but heard GREAT things!).

So I went back to our first page to take a look @ vacation dates and it turns out there are several of us who will be there in the mid July time frame! Is anyone else going to have LGMH's on them with their Dis name? I'm going to have them on my stroller and on our back pack and hopefully will get to meet some of the wonderful folks on the Dis!

Thanks for the pointers.. What is LGMH's? Not familiar with that abbreviation.. lol

It can be overwhelming, that is why some planning helps. Try to focus on one thing at a time, like resort or parks, or dining......ask lots of questions. With younger ones you will probably want to plan park days with breaks. Another good site is all ears.net.

I am looking for a new park bag, and hopefully I will be able to attach several LGMHs!

Lime green Mickey heads.......they are the paint samples that you get from Home Depot.

Hi everyone!

We are making this journey this mid-July...this time with a big old family group of 15 people!! :lmao:

Last time we went in 2005 and it was just my family.

We got the PIN code for free dining so I moved over from Shades of Green to Ft. Wilderness Cabins so it should be interesting.

My DH just got a job in January so he isn't coming with us, I'm dragging my mom down in his place. We are driving so it makes DH feel better that there is another adult with me.

We have a private Illuminations party planned for when we are down there since it will be my nephew's birthday that day and he wanted to do EPCOT. It should be a blast.

:welcome: Give me your dates I will add you to our list.

Yep! We went last year for what was supposed to be our 10 year anniversary. The Army had other plans for DH though and he ended up staying in Colorado for a month:mad:. I took the girls though and had my DSis come to help me out with them. We had a blast and sayed @ the WL last time as well. Something about that resort just screams HOME to me KWIM? Were considering the Poly for another trip since our youngest DD is soon going to be out of the pack n play age range.

 But I am glad that you were able to take your sister with you.

Love those dresses. Don't forget to post you shirts on the Disboutique board.

Just booked my air for arrival on July 18. Flying in to Tampa saved me over $300 for three of us (from Las Vegas). Rental car to get me to Disney cost $50.

Woohoo...on my way!!!

See you there!!!

Where in PA are you coming from? There is a lot of boring driving coming from Pittsburgh - I do not think I could stay awake all night to drive. We did it straight through coming home once, and it was exhausting.

We are near Reading, about an hour from Philadelphia. We'll be driving through the Harrisburg area. The worst for us is alway getting through the Baltimore area! When we go to Myrtle Beach it's about a 10-11 hour drive. Mapquest and Google Maps say it's about 17 hours to Disney. If we were able to leave early in the morning, maybe driving straight through would be more likely!

I think it's easier to drive straight through at the start of vacation, because you have the excitement of getting there. Coming home it's harder because vacations over and you just want to be home already!

I've always like road trips though, seeing different places. It will be an adventure!

I agree - driving straight through on the way there would not be as bad - we made it to the Florida border last summer, only had a few hours to Orlando the next day. I do enjoy the trip - sometimes I wish we could take an alternate route just to see new things though.

I was glad she got to go with me and my kiddo's too! Were planning to go next year (but in the fall near MNSSHP) just her, me and my DStepM.

I know I posted up the one shirt with Tinkerbelle on my oldest DD but not sure if I posted up the tie dye ones yet? I also went back to the fabric store to get more of the Tinkerbelle fabric but they were all out  and they said that due to their moving to a new location they more then likely wouldnt get any in until then! So not acceptable to me so I bought 2 patterns for my younger DD's and bought some pink princess fabric for one shirt. Doing that one first then the last one.

Lime green Mickey heads.......they are the paint samples that you get from Home Depot.

What she said :rotfl: I bought some card stock though, found a LGMH online and printed it out then printed out a small circle on a lighter shade of Lime Green with our name, my cell number and our resort name on them then glued them together. After that I used some adhesive laminate to make them somewhat water proof. I have to re-do the door sign tho GRRR

So excited to find this thread...I have been scanning through the TR & PTR looking for tips and planning ideas from those who have gone and are going in July!!

This is our groups 1st July trip. Last time we went in April 2007.

There are 13 of us heading down including 8 adults and 5 kids - 9yo, 8yo, 2 - 6yos and 4yo.

All of the kids' first trip was in April 2007 although the 6yos & 4yo do not remember much (4yo was only 4 months at the time).

All the the adults are Disney Pros with many, many, many (did I mention many) trips under their belts.

Most of the group is driving down leaving on July 15th and arriving on July 16th. Myself and my DD (the 4yo) are flying down on July 16th thanks to my dad's Continental mileage points which got us free flights. :rotfl:

We are staying off-site at Formosa Springs a 7 bedroom house, the same one we rented back in April 2007.

Last time we only were there for a week and decided that was not enough time to see / do everything that we wanted to, so this time we will be in the most magical place on earth for 2 WHOLE WEEKS!!!:banana::banana:

Which means our trip is from July 15th/16th to July 30th!

We have decided on 7 park hopper passes as we will also be visiting Harry, the beach at least once and my good friend from college lives in the area that I must see this time (wasn't enough time in 2007 and neither of us has met the other's DD).:scared1:

Anyway, I know I ramble alot and I apologize in advance.

So far we have no idea what we are doing when, still trying to figure out which parks when, if we want to do ADRs and just trying to figure out how we are going to bear the heat.

I am so glad I found you guys...everyone seems so informed and organized...I hoping to learn alot!

Also hope to see some of you enjoying the Mouse!!!

As a newbie to the DISboards in general I am also working on getting all my stuff together to hopefully start a PTR.

Thanks for reading my rambling!

:welcome: You came to the right place to start celebrating your trip. Isn't fun just knowing you are going to be there for 2 weeks:goodvibes

Dh is a :teacher: and I work PT so we are able to go for 14 days too.
We are also planning one day at IoA to see Harry Potter.

:welcome: Give me your dates I will add you to our list.

I will be in Disney World from July 17 - 23 -- vacation starts the 16th but we are driving so it will take us extra day to get to FL.

There are 13 of us heading down including 8 adults and 5 kids - 9yo, 8yo, 2 - 6yos and 4yo.

Most of the group is driving down leaving on July 15th and arriving on July 16th. Myself and my DD (the 4yo) are flying down on July 16th thanks to my dad's Continental mileage points which got us free flights. :rotfl:

We will be down there at the same time and we are a group of 15 people!!
All of us are older though as my youngest who is 7 will be the youngest of the group.

We went in July in 2005 and it wasn't that bad. I didn't think it was anyway. Just be prepared for the heat & afternoon thunderstorms and you will be fine. I went with TourguideMike's tours last time around and we did just fine. We were actually on a Premium plan though so we were pretty much running around eating & doing activities all the time. :lmao:

I'm pretty excited this time as we have our big group having a Crystal Palace lunch and then we have a private Illuminations dessert party planned which I know everyone is really looking forward to. We have never done anything like that so I'm anxious to see if in the end it ends up worth the cost.

I am going to have a LGMH on my park bag!! DH will be staying at home with the furry peeps so DD and I are creating a "Flat Daddy" to bring on the trip. I think I'll fashion a a "Flat Daddy" tshirt out of a LGMH too. Poor DH, if he only knew...

I'm currently working on what I'm going to do with my Furbabies. To board 2 cats at the ONLY place that offers it here in town is close to 400 dollars:scared1: I have one friend here who will check in on them every other day if she's still in town (they might go home at some point in the summer). I would take them to my mom's house but she has 2 cats and add in my 2 cats and they would just drive her nuts. I have to figure something out, even if I board one and take one with me.

Sounds like so much fun! Our group was 15 when we went in April 2007 but unfortunately my DH is not joining us this time and my grandmother has passed.

We are still trying to figure out what ADRs everyone wants to do and if we should seperate or go as a group.

All this planning to do and I just can't wait to do it!!
