July 20, 2012 -The MAGICAL BIG APPLE

Thanks for the good wishes MrsMarilyn. I have up and down days and probably won't rest until I get my results late April. Of course if I'm positive, then I'll really be worried! At least I'll know anyway.

Good luck with your health issues and your mom. I'm glad that I got insurance before I found out about my mom. If I have to cancel, at least I'm covered. I'm going to be paying off my cruise by the end of march as I want to book beginning of April for my WDW excursion.

Has anyone checked to see what the cruise availability is? I wonder if its slow or if maybe its full of new cruisers so not so many on the disboards.

How many of us on this thread? Are we going to have a meet?

I'm going with my DH, DD (19) and DS (7). I did look to see availability, and it seems full, so I guess not many DISers are on this one.

On another topic...having never done a Disney Cruise before...what is the dress code? Do you dress for dinner? Are there costume or theme nights I need to worry about packing for?

From what I understand it is more casual than other cruise lines. I went on a 3 day last August and my daughter wore skirts/dresses to dinner. My son wore shorts and collared shirts. He was 3. I am planning the same but am adding in khakis and button-down shirt for formal night for him, which I hope is okay. He is Autistic so I don't want to do anything to get him crazy.

I have my formal dress already, and I'm thinking of having my hair done on the ship. I want to look nice in photos! I have a shirt/tie/vest/pants set for my DS. He loves dressing up. My DD is going to wear her prom dress, and for DH, I don't know. He's not interested in figuring that out yet. We have never been on a cruise before, and are so excited.

The rest of the nights, DD and I will be wearing sundresses, I have polos and khakis for DS and DH.

I also have pirate shirts for all of us for pirate night.

The kids will be decked out in pirate attire of some sort. Just haven't figured that out yet for this trip.

I still have to figure out formal night for me though I do have a couple dresses here for that. DH is thinking khakis and his navy blue blazer and dress shirt. NOt sure I will get the tie on him since he wears one at work everyday.

I am lucky since there are no baggage fees so I can pack what I want for this trip.

I can't remember but has there been any talk of a Fish Extender Swap on this thread.

Just the two of us...DH and me. We have never been on DCL without our children, which are almost all grown.;)

Hi all!! We will be joining you on this cruise! Its our first cruise ever...We have been talking about the Disney cruise forever so I am sooooooo excited!! It will be me, my hubby and our son (10 yrs old). He can not wait either. We are Disney lovers(i have lost count on how many times we have been there!) so we have high expectations!!

Any tips, tricks and info you can give me would be great!!:thumbsup2

Thanks!!!

This is the first cruise we are going on and I've been reading alot on these boards!!

Are we supposed to sign up for the fish extender thing??? How does it really work?? I was trying to explain it to my son and he said it kind of sounds like we get to be Santa Claus..lol!!:rotfl2:

Any info or if anyone wants to chat about the cruise let me know!!!

I have a 10 year old son also! He will be turning 11 on the cruise so I'm not sure what club he will be in. He would like to spend 4 days in the lab and then 4 days at the edge, but I don't know if they'll let him do it.

10 years is an awesome age for a cruise.

My DD is 10 too so there are quite a few of us in this age range. I also have a 4 year old boy but he will probably be with us almost the whole time since he is on the Autism spectrum and nonverbal.

Is there a fish extender group going yet?? I really want to do it but I need to know what its all about!

not yet this has been a very slow moving group. I am hoping it picks up and we can get more people onboard. This is our 2nd Disney Cruise and MY DD and I had such fun doing the FE group and gifts.

I hope so!! It sounds sooo fun from what ive been reading! i need to know all the rules and what to do though

Hi

We are thinking of booking this right this moment!!! My Other Half and dd who is 7. However, we have two other options of holidays to consider and keep wavering - HELP. :confused3

What would you do? Bearing in mind we live in the UK.

DCL New York, taking a couple of days before to see the Big Apple - something I have never done!

10 nights WDW in July (?too hot/busy?), have a deposit on Beach Club with Dining.

12 nights on the Crown Princess - sailing out of Venice around Greece to Rome. Bearing in mind we did DCL Med. last year and twice the year before and have cruised all the stops several times and have booked DCL Venice for next year. (The Med is very accessible to us).

Prices are all more or less the same, maybe the Princess is slightly cheaper.

I am just waiting on DU to get a better price than DCL's website and possibly move our OB booking for next year to this and then rebook on board!

Any thoughts?

Kate
