July 20, 2012 -The MAGICAL BIG APPLE

Hi, Gang

Time to get this trip into high gear. Paid the cruise in full this morning, so I can book things at 9pm tonight - handy being on the Westcoast when it comes to booking excursions and such.

Who else is booking tonight?

We're booking the Atlantis Aquaventure for Nassau + plus I'll try and get a brunch for DH and I.

DS is coming along after all - so my travelling companions are DH, DS (17) and DD (16).

Interested in doing a fish extender, if we can get enough participants.

This weekend, I need to start getting things organized for our time in New York.

I booked the Nassau Aquaventure 9:15 and the 7:15 trip to hollywood studios. I tried to check-in, but somehow wasn't able to do it...weird. The video was there, but there was no button to begin the check in process. Ah well, its still 105 days away.

Wanted to get early boarding. I'll try later.

Also on the West Coast in Victoria:)

Was easy.

I booked the Aquaventure for 9:15 as well. We're heading to Animal Kingdom at 7:15 and I got Palo Brunch. Sixth sailing - and we're finally heading to Palo's. We've had a booking for later in the cruise before, but have cancelled mainly due to being too full of eating by then. This time it's the first sea day, so we should be okay.

I have to finish paying for mine as well. This is our first cruise, so I can't book excursions yet anyway. :( But I am so excited that it is finally getting closer!

I went to Home Depot to get the mickey heads, and we are going to make a countdown calendar maybe next week.

We still have a couple of weeks before we can check-in, and book palo, but made final payment today.

I emailed DCL, and received this response, which I hope is helpful in planning your days upon the MAGIC:goodvibes:

Dining attire varies by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general,
most meals are "Cruise Casual"-- jeans, khakis and capris are permitted;
however, we ask that Guests refrain from wearing shorts, swimwear or
tank tops in the dining rooms.

Below is the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject
to change:

On 8-night Bahamas cruise out of New York City departing Friday or
Saturday:
*Nights 1, 3, 5, 6, & 8: cruise casual
*Night 2: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 4: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or bring your
best pirate outfit!
*Night 7: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

Palo is our romantic alternative restaurant exclusively for our Guests
18 years and older. To maintain this elegant feeling during the various
dining options, a dress code is in place for the Palo Champagne Brunch,
Palo High Tea and Palo Dinner.

-Palo Champagne Brunch and/or Palo High Tea:
Cruise casual wear suggested.
No shorts, swimwear, tank tops or blue jeans are permitted.

-Palo Dinner:
Men - A dress shirt or jacket is required.
Women - A dress or pantsuit is recommended.
No shorts, swimwear, tank tops or blue jeans are permitted.

Each day on the ship a Personal Navigator, like a daily newspaper, will
be delivered to your stateroom with a complete updated listing of all
onboard activities, adventures, and entertainment. Once onboard you can
check the Personal Navigator each day for special activities/events.

We might be joining you all on this cruise. Excited as this will be our very first cruise. It will be me, DH, DS17 and DD9.

We are home from our spring break trip to Disney and I am really excited for the cruise.

This is our second Disney cruise. We are at the 97 day mark so I think we should get more chatty :)

We will be on this cruise. I received our initial itinerary and stateroom assignment today. Very exciting! We can't wait for our first cruise.
I have lots of questions.

For those that do packages, what airline does Disney use?

Less than 100 days and this is the quietest thread! I'm already racking my brain about what to pack and how to get Palo ressies!

I agree with how quiet this thread is.

I am all checked in for the cruise and am so excited. I love cruises because you are totally disconnected from life :)

Our check-in is complete. There were also several Palo slots open, which is surprising.::yes::Everything is booked on the ship for us.
The excitement is escalating here!!!:yay:
Planning is so much fun with the many choices in NYC. We would like to see a Broadway show. Any suggestions?:surfweb:

Jersey Boys, Wicked, How to Succeed in Business, Mary Poppins, the book of mormon, rock of ages, Chicago

I haven't seen The Bood of Mormon or Rock of Ages but they are on my list, along with War Horse and NEwsies.

I made my final payment on Friday. We are so excited that it will soon be here!

We were thinking Rock of Ages, but we aren't set on that one. We may wait in line on the day of to get tickets.:)

I was so excited the day I finished paying it off.

That is always a good way to get discount tickets.

Making that final payment is like the cruise vacation is almost here! Happy planning!!!:goodvibes

I am beginning to get excited. Especially since there are more of us chatting now.

Just curious if there is any interest in a FE swap on this group.

HEre is a THREAD about them. They can be a lot of fun :)

Hey!! We've been paid off too but since this is our first cruise we cant book anything yet :( 2 more weeks and we can!

Any of you know how strict is the dress policy when dinner is concerned? I have no problem dressing nicer than normal, (aka, running around the parks kinda clothes) But I think its going to be a fight with my son to get him in pants EVERY night for dinner...husband also! :rotfl2:

I was thinking nice dress shorts and a collared shirt, Nice plaid shorts and polos? Will this be possible or will we be turned away?

We are so excited for our first cruise...I cant even imagine how its gonna be when it gets closer!!! Looking forward to having a "MAGIC-al" time with you all!

Kerri you will be fine for most meals. I am planning to put my 4 year old son in Khaki Dress shorts or pants and a button down collared shirt for dinners.

He has sensory issues so it isn't worth the bother.

No one is going to refuse to serve you or let you in. You might get a look or two from other guests.

The only meals I am insisting DH dress up more than normal on is Semi-formal and Formal nights.

DD has no issues dressing up

I will post a couple pictures of what we wore to dinners on our 3 day last August.
