July 20, 2012 -The MAGICAL BIG APPLE

I will be sailing Carnival next month to Canada...St. John that is. Hoping for warm weather and no fog just like last June. Last year it was beautiful, in the 80's in St. John and no fog on the seas, wonderful!:goodvibes

Hi Folks,

we have booked for this cruise.

Myself (Dave), DF Maria (Maza) and youngest DD Lucie. Currently all in one cabin, but it looks like Maria's mum may take the plunge, so we will have two rooms.

Looking forward to another cruise terminal. Been to NY a few times, but looking forward to seeing things from the water (apart from the ferry to the Statue of Liberty) and going under the narrows bridge.

Where is everyone?

I'm here, but dealing with planning our upcoming Alaska cruise. A friend brought over some stuff from her recent trip to New York for us to read. Maybe, I'll do that tonight in between hockey intermissions.

I hear ya, I have a couple of vacations before this one also.

Go Canucks!

I need advice on hotels in New York for a family of 5. If anyone has any leads, please let me know!

:flower3: hi people. My DH Fluffy Bunny, has already added himself to this thread...just thought i would pop in to :)

This will be our 6th cruise..(possibly 7th if i can persuade himself to take us on the Mexican out of LA at Easter ):thumbsup2

Its our first family holiday without our eldest DD...who will be 18 by then and has 'plans' for next summer pre-university that dont include us:confused3

We have been to NY a few times..but there is still so much to see:banana:

A few freiends of ours from the British version of these boards (DIBB) will also be joining us onboard...so should be good :)
looking forward to meeting you all :) it will be here before we know it:yay:

I just booked my first ever cruise today, so I will be cruising along with you all! I'm so excited.

Has anyone looked at the new resort in Hawaii. I am drooling!

I hope I can still go on this cruise as my mom has been diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer. We'll see and I need to look into cancellation insurance that would cover this now that I know about it. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. We are in Canada, if that makes a difference.

Sorry, to hear that. Was your Mom going with you?. If she is chances are you can't get or will pay really high premiums for cancellation insurance for her. Also, her out of province medical insurance premiums will be really high with the diagnosis.

If it's just your family - go get Travel Gold from BCAA. You are not the one with the cancer, so you are getting insurance in case you have to cancel. You pay for a year. Our family of four (2 adults/2 teens) cost is around $700. Personally, I won't worry about purchasing it until you have put out funds (eg. flights, or paid the cruise in full). As for the cruise - until the paid in full date you can move your deposit to another cruise or have it refunded without penalty. Figure out your penalty dates. Any other questions - just pm me.

Don't buy the insurance through Disney without really reading the fine print for what it covers. I've read other Disers complaining that it's very limiting.

We've let our policy lapse at the time being, but will be purchasing it again for the trip to NY when we book our flights as we still have a set of elderly parents as well.

So sorry to hear this.

I've been checking around insurances and so far, even if its not my terminal condition, BCAA GOLD, RBC and Intact Insurance won't cover me for cancellation insurance if I have to cancel because my mother's condition deteriorates. I will keep searching though. Any ideas please pm or let me know. I am in Canada.

right...this will be our 7th DCL cruise...just booked a 5 night Dream for Easter:banana::banana:
