July 2, 2005 - WE ARE THERE!!!

Happy Birthday, Anna. I hope your day is magical! It's my DD birthday, too. A most excellent day when most excellent people were born!

DD, DH, and I just got back from watching the Magic sail away. I don't know how to put up the pictures I took, but somebody else does and they are on this DIS board: Pics of the Magic today..bon voyage

My DD and I are now almost uncontrollably excited. We got to hear the Magic horn! And as they sailed past, you could hear the music playing and the announcer at the party, and everyone looked like they were having such fun! Five more weeks!!!

:bday: Judalyne, Thanks for the update on the sail-a-way today. -- 5 weeks -

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your Daughter :bday:

Hello,
DH & DD (7) & I are cruising July 2nd. This is our first cruise. Words can't even describe how excited we are right now!!! If we could join you all in the Roy Disney Suite, my DH would really think I was a queen. We are in cabin 6592. I haven't booked our excursions or dinner reservations yet. I have to figure out how to do all of this. My DD wants to go on the Dolphin experience and horseback riding. Is there a way to book horseback riding for a 7 year old. My DH seems eager to go to Palos. We are a family in need of help. I should have found this site a year ago. Someone mentioned to my DH that we need some kind of sign for our door. Do you know anything about that????
:earsboy: :cheer2: :cool1:

Better late than never.......Glad you found us. A lot of people do put signs on their door. This is our 5th cruise and have never put up a sign. Your husband is correct about Palo. Do not miss dinner and the brunch. We are doing the zip lines in PV and horseback riding in Mazatlan. In Cabo San Lucas we are going to the Cabo Wabo Cantina and relax, tchrmom is hoping to run into Toby Keith :rotfl: :rotfl: By the way we are doing PV and Mazatlan with a lot of the same people on this thread it should be a lot of fun. You are welcome to join us.

Dave

:bday: to judalynes DD

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Also, happy birthday to Judylyne's dd.

Welcome to the disboards and to "our" July 2nd cruise to the longfamily. Someone found us again. I am sure one or two more will follow. Without rushing you - longfamily - start looking at the excursions and try booking, the more popular ones book fast or might be booked now.

I am always curious - longfamily - how did you find us?

Can the "roy suite" handle our crowd?

I still can't believe how close it is now. June is going to fly with last minute details/shopping/packing.

We have almost 1200 square feet and the veranda so it should not be a problem. I think it will make for a great celebration!

I hope everyone's day was as Magical as our day was yesterday! We had lunch at Mrs. Knott's famous chicken restaurant and dinner at San Pedro's Ports 'o Call after we watched the Magic sail away. Great day.

I have a couple of questions for those of you who bought the Passporter for the Disney Cruise: Is it worth it? Is it as good as, better than, or less than the Birnbaum Cruise book?

Please let me know so I can order one right away if it is a must have.

Thanks, Judy :hourglass

How sad is this...Our home is only a little over 1200 SF (without a verandah LOL). Atleast we have a pretty big backyard to put the "master suite" that I keep telling my DH we need. The funny part is the price they are getting for houses out here is ridiculous. Our little ranch style house would sell for over $650,000. Couldn't afford my house if I had to buy it today. I guess we'll feel right at home :crowded: in our cabin on the ship. Talk to you all later. Amy :flower:

Thanks for the nice Welcome! I'm just happy a friend who is cruising the last week in August told me about this site. But I still had a hard time finding it and then returning to it. I'm truly a novice. My mission today is to book excursions. It seems as if my 7 year old is too young for the zip lines. Do any of you have a DD or DS 7 years old? :earsgirl: I will try to book the horseback riding. When I saw the Disney ship on the news last night, I was thrilled. I was up half the night reading all of you postings. You all are amazing. How do you book Palo I booked our cruise through AAA so I don't a password for the Disney Cruise Line website?

Too excited for words. :earboy2: :cheer2:

First off, I have a DD who is 6 and a DS who will be 8 (6/11) so I have one if yours is a girl or boy!! Second, all you need is your booking # and the birth date of the lead person on your reservation. You need to register with the site and you make up your own password to get on to your booking. You should have some paperwork that has your booking # on it. You should do this stuff ASAP as the time are really filling up. I suspect that they hold onto some times for all those who don't know about booking this stuff online but who wants to wait in lines on board if you don't have to. If you need any more help..just ask. We're all more than willing to get you on your way. Good luck. Amy :flower:

:flower: Hello,
Thanks so much for the password/log in info for the DCL site. I can't believe I could have done this months ago. You were right about the excursions being booked. I was not able to book the Dolphin Encounter for Kids (4-8) in PV. I will wait in line onboard if you think there still is a chance. My DD is 7 years old so I couldn't book the horseback riding. It would be great for her to make friends. I'm going to go back and read the earlier postings that listed a website for excursions.I was able to book a Couples spa appointment and Palo for dinner on Sunday. :rotfl: Dinner at Palo is tops on my DH list. Mazatlan will be a family beach day for us. Hopefully we can rent water equipment. What day and time is the DIS group getting together?:grouphug: I am soooo excited about our first cruise. For the return cruisers what are the hours for the Oceaneers Club? Is it worth it to order any of the gifts and have them delivered to the room before boarding?

:wave2:
longfamily, so glad that you found us!!!!!

You will want to register your children online with the clubs. (same way that you did Palo)

The clubs are open everyday from usually 9am-1am. Make sure you encourage your children to go the first few days. Everyone will be looking to make "a friend"........if you wait to go until later in the cruise, all the "cliques" have formed and it will be harder to meet people. :sad2:

Good Luck, and feel free to ask any questions!

Hi Tchrmom,
Thanks. From your name sounds like we're in the same line of business.

I signed my DD up for the Oceaneer Club. I've been online most of the day with a short break to go see Madagascar. There's so much to learn. My husband thinks I obsessing. Of course I am! :) Are you ordering any of the gift items in advance? What are soft coolers? Is there a such thing as a bad cabin? I read somewhere else about noise and foot traffic. Are the kids clubs open while adults are on excurions? Sunday night, DH and I are having dinner at Palo's, does that mean my DD will eat in the Oceaneers Club?

:earsgirl:

1200 sq. feet? Wow - I think the Roy Suite can handle it. :goodvibes

Amy - you also just described our home. It's a small ranch with about the same footage - I tell everyone we live in a shoe box :rotfl: :rotfl:

Same thing here - prices are outrageous. I have the perfect starter and retirement home.

Thanks Jim for the list. I turned my printer on and froze computer up. Will try again now - if it freezes up again, I will email it to my sil and have her print it out for me. Time for a new computer after the cruise.

I laughed out loud when I read the square footage of the Roy Suite. That is the exact same size of our home....We do have a finished basement, but the upstairs is 1200 sq. ft. I figure we had a started home, a home to raise our 3 boys, and someday a retirement home all in one... Oh, well it is home and it sure doesn't take long to clean. :flower:

Is anyone else flying out the Saturday we get back? Our flight leaves at 12:15 and from what I have seen of the 1st group to leave that is going to be cutting it very close. Anyone else with this added worry.

Everyone has me worried about luggage now so I went and bought another suitcase and of course clothes for DW and DD to fill it.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Dave

longfamily.........

Are you a teacher? I teach 1st grade.....and I'm happy to report that SCHOOL'S OVER FOR THE SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK....let me see if I can answer all of your ?'s

We have never ordered from the gift selections before. Once, we cruised with our next door neighbors. They sent us the the champagne/fruit tray. It was nice, and we ate it together. IMHO, it is not worth the $....but it was VERY thoughtful of them. Their daughter was 2 then, and they had something "Mickey" in their room for her, again, I didn't think it was really worth the $. I say, Save the money......More sailaway drinks.

Soft coolers are the kind that you can easily fold up. We bought ours at Wal-Mart. It will hold at least a 6pack of something. We have never used it for the trip, but take it everytime. We probably will not even take it this time. (unless DD can figure a way to put shoes in it)

Personally, we've NEVER had a bad cabin. However, I have heard some complain that theirs was. Dave From Marrietta has a website listing "bad" cabins. Try www.dlctribute.com I think that is it.

Usually, the kids clubs are open during port times. Our daughter chose not to go into St. Maarten with us, and stayed in the club. However, your beeper will not work off the ship. Dinner is served at the clubs, but at specific times. Check, once on board to see the times dinner is served in each club. I think I remember it being early......like 5:00ish. How old are your kids? Mine are old enough, that they can go to dinner on their own, and our waiters always take good care of them, on our Palo night. :cool1:
Another option for your Palo night (depending on your Palo time) is to go to dinner with your daughter, and not eat (or take her to Topsisders).....then take her to the club at your Palo time already fed. (Did that make sense to anyone besides me????????) :confused3

Let me know anymore ?

PS....sorry for any typos.....I didn't proofread!

Wouldl like to welcome the longfamily to our group! Please post all info for the cruise list and I will add it next week. For others interested, if you would like a copy of the list on word format, please sent me a PM with you e-mail address and I will send you a copy.

We also own a small ranch style home around 1300 SF, added a room two years ago so I could move around. I agree, great retirement home. Anna, the prices in CA for homes are outragious! Our small home 35 miles north of SF cost $500,000.00.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone. Have a great week.
