July 2, 2005 - WE ARE THERE!!!

Hi Everyone - tried to go back a page or two for some catching up -

Happy 21st Belated Birthday to Ashlee :bday: :bday:

Happy Birthday to Connor :bday: :cake:

Congratulations to Amy princess: princess:

Congratulations too to everyone who has also received their documents -

Happy Father's Day to all the dads here :wave2:

I think tonite, if we have time (going Upstate to see my sister), the luggage will be coming down from the attic. Still shopping and picking up items. Still need to pick up one or two more - I guess we will keep buying until we zipper up our luggage. They opened up a new Dollar Tree store in the shopping center by us - will run in there tomorrow to see if I can pick up a small item for exchanging with the kids (just in case my dd wants to participate).

For everyone near Los Angeles - how is everything? are you guys still feeling tremors?

We got our confirmation from Sylvia today. It is for 11:00am. Not really concerned about the time as long as we all have fun.

Mr Conner........ :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: Have a great day!

Hope everyone had a great weekend

Time to really start packing!!!

Dave

"For everyone near Los Angeles - how is everything? are you guys still feeling tremors?"

Haven't felt any since last weeks 4.9, but of course the news likes to make a huge deal about every little shake that normally would never make the news.

I must say, if our current weather continues (as I am hoping it does), we are in for some fabulous weather. This weekend has been so beautiful, blue sky, warm and sunny! I've had the top off my jeep all weekend and have no plans to put it back on!!

I keep reading that the "rainy season" is hitting Mexico early and they are getting afternoon showers alot, but its still warm they say.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads.

Jill

One week left..........for us. :cool1:

By this time next week, I hope to have everything ready for XLT to put in the car Monday night. I'll take him to work Tuesday morning.......then meet him Tuesday afternoon, and then off to the airport!

This week, we're in the "wash and pack" mode. It's time to REALLY get excited!!!

We got another confirmation from the Canopy tours. Looks like they have us for the 11:00 time, now. I need to go back and read today what it is Randi's suggest to wear for the horseback riding. Does anyone remember?

Have we decided the "raffle" rules???????? I need some help! (XLT, be quiet!)

Have a great day!
Fran
:teacher:

Fran, When we did Randi's ride a few years ago we wore shorts and had no problems. They put towels on the horses and we were very comfortable. If you decide to wear pants, then you could always change your clothes once you get to Victors. You leave your bags at a house that you get your horses at. They then bring your bags to Victors so you have them there when you get back. Totally safe. Just remember to bring your camera. I think it was so interesting to see these people's homes. They are NOT slums but a more simple life. Maybe what our country looked life 70 years ago. There are some vendors on the beach but they were not aggresive. It should be a blast. (Atleast for you guys as I won't be riding because of our youngest kids. I'll just head over to Victors after everyone gets a horse and wait over there) Amy :flower:

Again......Amy to the rescue!!!! :flower:

You said they put towels down on the horses. I hope they also put a saddle on too!!!!!!

What type of foot wear would you suggest? I have read that your sneakers become "un wearable" after this trip. Would "water" sandles work? (You know the kind with velcro straps?)

Fran
:teacher:

Yes, they put the towel on the saddle. I wouldn't wear flip-flops but Teva type shoes would be fine. I think I wore white tennis shoes and they got a little dirty but not unwearable dirty. But now that I think about it maybe you do need an extra pair of shoes for this excursion. :duck: <----Now Dave, I was only kidding, no need to throw fruit at me!! :rotfl2: Amy :flower:

No need to throw fruit at Amy......because at this point every additional pair of shoes means one less outfit :rotfl: There is only so much room in the 8 bags we are allowed. Have you seen the commerical where the guy puts on layers of clothes before going on a trip? That will be Fran.

Dave

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes!

Am starting to pack - the cruise is almost here!

Just got home and my DOCS have arrived!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Anyone else still waiting? :hourglass

Yep. Still waiting, :bored: but not worried...yet. Congratulations to everyone that has their docs! :goodvibes Can I start taking your drink orders??? :drinking1

I can't really feel like packing until I have them, although I'd better start soon. It reminds me of when I was pregnant. I was all packed and anxious, had everything ready, and DS just wouldn't come. Day after day I waited--:hourglass--he ended up being two weeks late! I was so sure I would NEVER go into labor that, in a fit of frustration (and a little bit of pouting, I'm sure), I unpacked my suitcase. I remember thinking, "I'll show you..."

Okay - went to the Dollar Store today and have two gift bags ready - one extra just in case.

Filled out cruise documents. Filled out and made copies of our passports. Typed up our itinerary for family in case of emergency.

Transferred final rewards dollars to my rewards card (another $60 - yeah :cool1: )

We finally took down our luggage (and decided to borrow from the inlaws). We have four huge ones and rest "normal size" looking luggage. Toiletries all done but will really not pack til one or two days before. As much as I want to say "I can't wait" - I don't seem or feel to be ready for some reason. I think I will call our van two days before and remind him that we are five people and will have a ton of luggage (two a piece right?) and one handbag each?

Still need to pick up one or two things. Haircuts, peducures and packing next week. Still can't believe it's almost here.

I would like to wear pants for horseback riding but wondering if it might be too hot. I do have an old pair of sneakers or the teva sandals - I can always bring a pair to change and leave the old pair behind. Do you think we will need bug spray? I think I should buy an extra bottle of sunblock too :sad2:
Like I said before, shopping will not stop unless we zip up and leave for airport.

I have three more pirate costumes to complete. It really sounded like fun to my whole family and isn't that big of a chore. Everything is cut out it is just a matter of sewing. Nothing fancy, just simple because my talents are limited. Now for the raffle. Do we bring one per family or one bag for every person attending the Dis meet? I am enlisting my ds to make door signs for our rooms. He is much better with a computer than I am. I hope that I don't forget anything. I think that I will wait and buy wine once we get to the airport. There will be somewhere at LAX to buy a bottle of wine won't there? I got my tickets for DL today. I really feel like it is getting close.
Talk more later, Angie

Amy..........since I won't get through airport security with 18 outfits on, can I just send you a package? You can tie it to a child or something in the car. :rotfl2:

Honestly..........I'm TRYING to pack less shoes and clothes this time!

Just wanted to let you guys know the DCL cruise line will be on the Travel Channel tomorrow at 2:00 am Eastern. I saw a post on the Cruise Boards. Set your Tivo...

Thought Needalatte and Vvanmom would appreciate seeing it!

Deb

Thanks, Deb. It was actually on at 4:00 PM this afternoon, West Coast time, and is supposed to rerun at 11:00 tonight, (which is 2:00 East Coast time or it may just be on again at 2 AM our time). We caught the last 1/2 hour of it and it was very interesting. DS is all the more excited now! :earsboy:

Don't have Tivo. :( But I have a VCR. I think I need to move into the 21st century. :teleport:

Betsy,

If you don't get it taped, just give me a VHS tape and I'll transfer it over for you :)

Can you believe it's less than two weeks?

Deb

Hello ALL, First would like to wish Conner a HAPPY BIRTHDAY - I hope the day was full of excitement... :bday: - I also want to tell all the Fathers out there, HAPPY FATHERS DAY. :earsboy:

My family have made two bags for the raffle. One to be donated by my DD and one for my DS. I also have two extras made just in case. I alos have other items that I will bring should we need to make additional bags.

Here are some suggestions as to "RAFFLE RULES".
1)Raffle would be done at DIS MEET on SAT -
2)You may trade in one bag for a ticket (everyone can participate if they like, however the gifts will be more for the "KIDS" (BIG AND SMALL). I understand that someone has volunteered to bring numbers or tickets - Can we confirm? I will bring a coulple of extra gift bags should some forget or just don't have time - Anna mentioned she also an extra bag made - just in case...
3) Those who participated pick a number, Lowest number chooses first gift bag, next lowest picks second and so on....

How does that sound to everyone? Remeber to make it simple and that several ages can use - also try to obtain gifts that both boys and girls would like. Finally, cost should be minimal, the fun is with participating!

I have not heard any news from Sylvia, I hope we stayed with the group. I continue to send her e-mails... No post this weekend as I have been very busy - I will post the list tonight. I see the doc race is on..... Good LUCK to All :wizard:
