ldb1030: GREAT!!! We've actually done 2 previous Disney Cruises: the 3 day Wonder back in 2001, and the 7-day Eastern in 2002. Jennifer would LOVE to get to know some other teens before cruising. She's a bit shy, and feels a bit awkward if she's thrown into a group of strangers. You can e-mail us at home at ericdyken@yahoo.com

Husker4040: Weird weather, huh? I heard that the farmers here in Iowa are already in the fields, putting down fertilizer!!! They cannot remember a time that they've been able to do that in January!!!
Thanks for the reminder about the passports!!! We have ours, but the kids' expired last year (we got them in 2000 when we went to China). I'll work on that this weekend!!

Patti- HURRY and tell us your passport story!! I can't wait!!! HURRY HURRY!

Deb- I will give Alexa the email address and have her email Jennifer soon!
We have done the 4 day in 2000 and we also did the eastern in 2002! When did you guys go? We went the end of July that year! TIRED to do the western 9/04 but ended up in other ports thanks to hurricanes! That's why we're trying it again!

It is crazy weather! We had rain and cold today but tomorrow it'll be nice again! I think north of us they got snow. Did you get any Patti? :confused3

GO CATS on Saturday night! :cheer2:
GO BRONCOS on Sunday! :cheer2:

Ok, buckle you seatbelts! :moped: We went up to the courthouse to renew all of the passports. The girls I have to do in person since they are minors, and decided to just do them all at the same time since I had to go anway. Logical, huh? :rotfl2: All the woman at the window could tell me is she didn't know how to do renewals, and she would be happy to do new ones, adding the $30 per person processing charge. WHAT??? So then I started to explain to her that I had all of the forms filled out, pictures, old passports, etc. Then she said she wouldn't even know what to charge for renewals. I turned the sign around that was sitting on the counter and pointed to it. She finally walked away from me, apparently done with me. I was LIVID! I looked at the woman and made a comment about how easy it must be to get a gov't job since they will hire about anyone. Nasty, I know. She didn't even attempt to help me. That's what made me so mad. I called the Passport Agency yesterday and complained! She put a comment on their file that will be sent through the agency. So, now I get to go to Boystown Post Office for the girls. I'm going to mail ours since the lady told me there isn't any guarantee I won't run into that again.

We got flurries Lisa. Nothing more. We just bought a new truck (talk about bad timing!) and I know DH is anxious to get it out in the snow. Nope. He has 2 junker trucks to do that in! :teeth: Your new coach stole our QB recruit. :rotfl: That's ok, we think he changed his mind after seeing our 2nd string guy come in during the KSU game.

Deb - The farmers are putting down fertilizer? Our winter has been so dry I don't know that there is enough moisture in the ground do that here yet.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Patti

Hey I did the Wonder in 2001 too! You didn't happen to go before Christmas did you?

Can we get a quick roll call of folks and kids' ages?

My daughter Jennifer will be 15, and our son, Mark will be 11.

Hi everyone again! Lisa I just sent an email with my dd's email address so Alexa and her can chat. Welcome Deb in IA! Hopefully our girls will get together too! My son is 13 and will be in the teen club this time which he is very happy about, last July he was two months shy of 13 so we signed him up for Oceaneer's Lab but he still followed his sister to the teen club when she went.

We are also having wierd weather here in N.Y. It's going to be almost 60 here today! I want snow!!!

Has anyone thought about the excursions yet? My TA told me the sting rays are not to be missed! I have two little ones but hopefully my dh will watch them on the beach while me and the two older ones go snorkeling on Grand Cayman! Actually I would love to get certified to scuba before this trip. We went to Hawaii two years ago and I spent hours snorkeling on the north shore and swore to myself I would get certified before I went on another tropical vacation :fish:

Hi guys for the second time today! I went back and started reading the thread you guys started last summer and I thought I'd comment on some of what ya'll wrote :)

HI!
Just back from NYC! What a time we had!! :cool1:
I must say I'm glad to be back in my quiet little town! LOVED the trip but it's a whole other world there! :bitelip:
My friend and I kept saying that if we were coming back from a beach vacation, we would not be as anxious to get home! :dancer:

We are 20 miles from NYC and my dh takes the train into work every day. It is another world indeed from the burbs here in Long Island but we took the kids in to see the tree (Rockefeller Plaza) during Christmas and it's always fun. What did you guys see when you came?

From what I understand, PC2 will be shown on board starting at midnight, I think. Not sure if this is the case, but I did read that on the board somewhere.

OMG! My dd has seen Pirates about a hundred times and will faint if I tell her she'll get to see it on board!!! Has anyone heard a definate that they'll be showing it?

Patti that passport story was maddening. I have to renew ours soon and am not looking forward to the wonderful govt. workers. They're like the DMV people, KWIM?

LIMouse, if Katie wants to e-mail Jennifer at the above address, that would be fine too!!

Jennifer is also a big HP fan . . . but she's a bigger fan of Hayden Christensen (Annakin Skywalker) and James Franco (Tristan and Isolde)!

Oh, and we also LOVE POTC!!! That would be so awesome if they showed PC2-Dead Man's Chest on the cruise!!!

LongIslandMouse/Laura-

I just told Alexa you were close to NYC!! She's SO jealous!
We had such a great time! We did the normal tourist stuff but there was was so much more we could have done!
My mom really wants to make a trip there so we may have to do that!

Patti- Why does your passport story not really surprise me!? :confused3
Some of those gov't workers (not ALL) seem to want to do as little as possible to help people and what floors me, is that they get away with it! :sad2:

Sorry about the QB thing! ;)

Lisa - You aren't sorry about the QB. :rotfl2: Of course, I wouldn't be either. Your current QB is from Omaha.

Roll call for us.

Me
DH
DD 14
DD 13

I'll try and get each of our other families to check in for themselves. It will be us and 17 others. We have 3 sets of grandparents, and 3 other families.

Passport story ended on a happy note. :cool1: We went to the Post Office, and after waiting an hour, got through our stuff in about 10 minutes. I had everything ready, then just had to mail ours. They are on their way!

Patti

Patti- glad you got the passports taken care of! What a pain! :sad2:

Hey why didn't you beat those chickenhawks from ku??

I'm a huge fan of that movie. I'm pretty sure thay will be showing it. They had Chronicles of Narnia, which premiered during a cruise, so thay should definately have POTC2 premiering as well!!

I believe someone posted on another thread that the cruise line showed the first POTC at midnight on the night it opened. Hopefully, they'll do the same for us!

LOL! Lisa, you must be talking about one of those round ball sports. :rotfl2: I don't follow the round balls, just the pig skin, which I'm already gearing up for. :cool1: Spring game is April 15th. :yay:

The girls and I are going to start shopping soon. We are down to 151 days!! :woohoo: First we have to get through high school orientation, International Baccalaureate orientation, band orientation, and every other kind of orientation you can think of! I will NEED a vacation after all of this. I think Sara starts band camp right after school gets out. I'm almost counting the days until she can drive. Ok, maybe not! :lmao: You will understand when you meet her.

We are all getting very excited! I still can't seem to get the family to check in here, but I'm sure they will eventually. We are starting to talk excursions now.

Yes, that ole' round ball sport as you call it!! :rotfl2:

I bought my first new "cruise-top" the other day! It was too cute and about 70degrees :sunny: out so I was totally in the mood!

Alexa will have dance tryouts again very soon and I can't believe it. So between that, camp if she makes it again :yay: , drivers ed and her getting a job ( I HOPE!!) it'll go by so fast!

I'm going to start having more weird cruise dreams soon I can tell!

Wow, I had my first weird cruise dream the other night. Out of all of us, only I made the trip. My mom brought me my suitcase, stayed for dinner, and left. Ok. Jess has most of her dress clothes, and as they come out, I need to start buying shorts, etc for everyone. Of course, it's getting cold here again (I knew it couldn't last forever :sad2: ) I buy things here and there so I don't have to spend the time/money all at once.

My boss is starting to freak about me being gone already, so time may become a precious comodity as we get closer to sail date. It's really too bad that communication with me that week will be spotty at best via email! :lmao:

Hey gang.

I just had to cancel my SIL from the trip. She decided she'd rather take her whole family out here to the East Coast (CT) to visit us then leave a few kids home. So--someone will be very happy today with a possible upgrade to a Cat 2.

Anyway, my roll call is: Deb (me), DH (who doesn't believe in the whole internet friends things LOL), DD 11 (turning 12 on 7/2), DD 8 (as friendly and as hyper as can be. Hopefully we make it through this cruise without having to visit the doctor onboard. lol), DS 4 (turning 5 on 7/7). This is our 3rd Disney cruise but my son's first. DH and I have cruised on other ships and are just cruise addicts.

Just received a packet in the mail with itineraries, balance due and when we can purchased online. Remember, you do have to be paid in full to purchase or reserve anything online---even if you can do it before the 60 day refundable date.

I don't follow college football---but do follow pro and my team (THE STEELERS) won the superbowl!!!!! Been waiting for quite a while for that to happen. Although, I don't feel as excited about it as I thought I would--maybe because it isn't the same team as in the 70's. But, I'll take it while I can. It gives me great joy that my dad can see his team win a superbowl before he gets beaten by cancer. Weird what simple things can bring joy.

As we get closer, we can arrange for a DIS meet onboard. Usually upper level on one side of the ship overlooking the sail away party.

Deb

Deb-
your DH is going to be SO surprised when he see's you talking to ALL your "internet friends" on board in a few months!!! :yay:

LOL! It took Deb's DH ages to get used to the group Deb and I are in, and we've been together coming up on about 10 years! :teeth: I'm still not sure he completely trusts us. :rotfl2: It will be fun, I can't wait to meet him. My DH talks about my group like they are part of the family now (as they are!) :Pinkbounc

Congratulations to Steeler fans! The Super Bowl is always a fun game to watch. Sad for me, because it's still 9 weeks before our spring game! How long for you Lisa?

We are back to normal temps and I think I'm freezing! I just need more cruise planning to warm me up! We should be getting our passports soon. They finally cashed the checks, so they at least have them! :cheer2: That will be one more detail down, and a million to go. I was laying in bed last night making mental lists. Ya, like that made it through the night! :lmao: New mental list: pen and paper next to bed.
