July 19, 2007 - WONDER - Anyone else getting away from it all?

Tonya, Amandab, and Gone To Disney,

We just booked yesterday and will be joining you on this cruise!
Sailing will be myself, DD7, and DM who will turn 60 on 7/21 while we are on the boat...but she doesn't want anyone to know :rotfl:

DM and I have not cruised in 13 years, and have never cruised with DCL. We are very excited about this "girl's trip" and looking for any words of wisdom you can provide us on cruising with DCL.

We will be in 6594...feel free to knock and introduce yourselves. There will be a LGMH with "Bzzelady" on the door!

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back and say Welcome. WELCOME. As you can see we are cruzing with Me (Tonya), DH (Trey), DS (Hunter) and DD (Cassidy). Trey, myself and Hunter have been on two other Disney cruises and this will be Cassidy's first cruise. We've always taken 7 days, but needed a break this summer and wanted to blow our DVC points on something we love. We love to Cruise Disney and would probably turn down a free cruise on anyone else because we love it so much.

As far as advise about DCL, think "when you wish upon a star...." All you have to do is ask. They are great about everything. One cruise I wanted Cheesecake for desert, it wasn't on the menu, but it magically appeared at the table at desert time. Everynight after that they managed to wrangle me a piece. We have always had the best service, best room hostess or host and have enjoyed seeing those same people cruise after cruise. Never a complaint. Even with stomach flu going around the boat, it was still a great time.

We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you on the boards.

:drinking1 Heres to getting to know you better.

Tonya,

We are all really excited about this trip. Yesterday I had my DD (Anastasia) sit down and watch the DCL segment on Travel Channel and she was just sitting there with her mouth hanging open! (no sooner was it over...then my DM (Jane) was on the phone pointing out things that looked cool to her :) )

Do you recommend any shore excursions in Nassau? We were thinking of maybe just hanging around on the boat that day but if you have a good recommendation, maybe we will try it.

Chris

Tonya, look out you are filling up your boat we cruisemates now. Be on the lookout for any futuere banana heads.

We'll be there!

I'm 36, my hubby is 51 and our kids will be 7 and 8 in July...

We've been on one cruise (with Princess to the Eastern Caribbean last spring) and LOVED it - this is our first Disney cruise. :)

We're flying out from California a few days early to enjoy some time at the parks until we board the Wonder on Thursday - can't wait and look forward to getting to know you!

Good Morning all:

Welcome Online Mom. We are glad to have you coming with us.

83 days till i leave for vacation. Seems like forever, but it will be here before I know it.

Chris, I've never been to Nassau, but we signed up for the Carribean Queen Snorkeling thing. We love the water. We also signed up for the stingray adventure on Castaway. We did this last year and my son was too scared of the stingrays to feed them. He did swim with them afterwards, but he promises this year to touch them. This is honestly one of the coolest things i've ever done. The stingrays come up on something last looks like a drive through for stingrays, then they have you put your hand down with food in between your fingers and they come by and suck it off. Its a wicked feeling, but one I will NEVER forget. After they get done feeding them you get to go out and swim with them and do the stingray shuffle. All of the stingrays have been manicured (their stingers cut off) so they are of no harm to anyone. Its quite unnerving when they smack your legs while your feeding them. As you can tell im a BIG fan.

If you want to snorkel at Castaway I would suggest doing that first thing as the more people that get into the water the more sand and silt and the less visibility for snorkeling. Its a great place to see fish. We were there two years ago after the hurricanes and the fish were few and far between, but when we were there in November, I had to fight to keep the fish from bumping up against me. (we were also chumming the water). :)

Im looking forward to getting to know all you guys.

I'm beginning to think that this is a very empty boat...maybe we will all get upgraded to suites

Hi!

Add us to the list! just booked this three day to add on to our quick trip to WDW. This will be our first 3 day:) We have done four 7 day DCL's and one 4 day waaaaaay back when the Magic used to only do 3/4 day cruises.

There will be four of us, DH, DD (15), DS (5) and me. We are so excited to be able to cruise this summer:cloud9:

Welcome Princessdaisy:

I'm so glad to see more people on the board. I will write more later I want to get done at work early.

Whew! normally, I book the cruise year or more in advnace. I am exhausted getting these last minute plans together but I am having fun:banana: all I need now is the rental car and find a hotel for our midnight arrival into MCO on the 17th...wish me luck!:wizard:

Thanks for the welcome Stephanie. Wow your DD is going to be shocked when she finds out about the Cruise. When are you planning to tell her ?

We had a fantastic Cruise in January, so if you'd like to know how we got on, here is my trip report http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1337848

We will also be in WDW before and after the Cruise, we're staying at the Pop Century from 13th/27th July

I still can't believe that we've booked this Cruise, I am soooooo excited

Has anyone else got any teenagers who will be hanging out in Aloft ?

Mandy :)

Mandy, that is a great trip report! the pictures are great and make me even more anxious for our cruise:banana:

Yes, Nicole (15yrs) has no idea and I don't plan on telling her:cutie: Will just let her eyes get huge as we approach the Wonder on day of sailing. I am terrible...yes, I know:rolleyes: :upsidedow

We will be staying four nights at WDW after the cruise as I gotta get some Disney time:cool1:

-Steph

Welcome Mandy. Kathy wrote and told me you were jumping on the board. :) Its so nice to meet you.

Steph - We've never been on the Wonder either. Looking forward to getting to know the other boat in the fleet. I'm not telling my DSD either. Just getting her up and going to the airport.

TTYL.

Hey Tonya

It's great to meet you too, I mentioned to Kathy today that I was cruising with one of the 'Nana Heads' :rotfl2: She's great, we met in May 2005 and we always keep in touch with each other

It sounds like there's going to be some very shocked kids on this Cruise ;)

Today, I booked Palo for dinner on the last night. On our last Cruise hubby and I went for brunch for the first time, and we loved it, so this will be our first dinner there

Steph - thanks for reading my trip report, it was a brilliant Cruise and we met some lovely people

Mandy :)

Im sorry that we don't have any teenagers going. Both of mine will be 10. Oh the humanity. Cassidy has never been before and this will be Hunter's 3rd cruise. He's an old pro. The only problem with this trip is that we just bought a house and we are moving the weekend before we leave. Do you think anyone would be nice enough to move my house while we are gone? Doubt it. But I can hope.

The only problem with this trip is that we just bought a house and we are moving the weekend before we leave.

Good grief, move house the week before ? that will be a bit stressful, you'll need the Cruise after that. I hope the move goes well for you :thumbsup2
