Great idea JoAnn!!!!! :cheer2:

I don't know who got me started, but I have been reading "Dear Miss. Mermaid's" blog since we got back. She is the woman that lives in Tortola. She has been in the hospital for a little over two weeks I think. It has been interesting reading. There are days I'm not sure if she in a hospital or a prision?

I did everything I could under the sun to find out who she was the day we were in Tortola... our tour guide had no idea, I asked in several of the local bars on Cane Garden Beach - but if the locals knew - they were not giving up any information... I did ask everyone I talked to please tell her I love her blogs if they ever "found out" who she was...

I did get to meet Quito Rymer in person and he did open up his bar for 5 minutes so I could purchase his CD's (I bought all 7 that were still in print) - he autographed one of them for me - and then he promptly locked his bar up tight again.... He does not open the bar up until 3pm... I met his brother also.... and now that I have listened to his CD's I am soooooooooo glad I bought all of them - he has a gift that is truly hidden.... He composes most of his own work - that man has talent and beyond.

JoAnn,

Is your new cruise the one with the double dip CC?

No, i actually did the double dip last summer on the Wonder. I liked it but this time, we're looking forward to the Key West stop. We signed up for the 5day Key West, Nassau, CC itinerary. I have a very small window when Tracy is off, so I had to work around her schedule.

Now, I'm going to try to come up with something for just Ken and I around our anniversary.........suggestions?

You know what I'm going to say - THE BALTIC!!!!! But seriously, are you thinking domestic and for how long? 30 is a special one. Do you want resorty like Sandals or busy like an Adventures by Disney?

I wish! I really struggled with this decision. I feel that to enjoy the Baltic, you should really go for a few days in London and the trip started getting too long to be away. My youngest will be in school at Drexel, so she'll be around on the weekends and I didn't want to be away that long.

I think I might want to do something domestic........Ken has always wanted to go out west, like you guys did. I'll check out the Adventures by Disney. Since we just did the Caribbean, I don't think we'll head in that direction.

Quest for the West was really awesome. It would be a nice change. It exceeded my expectations. Just a cavet, it is one of the few ABD that books up really early. Check it out. Any questions, just ask. I'd recommend this one in a heartbeat. Another one that looks good is the Grand Canyon one. Not sure about how the heat will be in the summer, but that's also gotten rave reviews.

FIRST, where is Greg?:confused3:confused3:confused3:sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

I BELIEVE next year our weeks at Disney will be July 25 through Aug. 7:yay:...can anyone come down and play at those times? :woohoo::woohoo: PLEASE....:worship::worship::worship::worship::worship::grouphug:
Don't believe we will do the 5 day cruise in August (17), but move deposit over to the next year for the new ship:cool1:....can we have a reunion on the ship:cheer2: (even though it is only a 3/4 day trip....we will definitely NOT do the 3 day:sad2:)

With what's going on with the storm this week, I'm glad we went in July now instead of August like we usually do. I hope they have fun anyway.

Hi everyone!

We arrived safely in Kampala last Sunday evening. It's taken a while to try and get settled (not there yet, honestly), but at least we now have an internet connection - albeit via a slow cell phone.

No pics yet - I can't believe Aaron hasn't been taking any photos yet, but it's been a bit stressful. Hopefully soon.

Tomorrow is the first day of school and the girls are excited and VERY nervous. We did get to meet their teachers on Friday morning briefly, but not really any classmates. So tomorrow will be a very big day.

Will post pics soon! Hope everyone is doing well.

Joann

we'd love to - but alas - we are in school - but our next cruise will be with rccl out of galveston..... looking at maybe the last week of 2010....

Hey! Join us on the 11-day South Caribbean Magic!!!!! I'm really psyched for that cruise, although I need to figure out airfare....

I

My recent news...........got caught in the car in a tornado, literally. I AM NOT joking! The car rocked side to side. Loud roaring over us. Scared us (Mallory and me) to death! A wooden sign got thrown into the back of my car and did a few thousand $ damage. Honestly, I am thankful we weren't hurt! It could have been much worse.

I grew up in the midwest and my dad was a meterologist. He'd watch the skies like a hawk when they turned grey-green. I still get very nervous during the first spring thunderstorm every year. I'm glad everyone is okay!

Made it through the oatmeal didn't think anything could be worse but i was proving wrong this morning when I had to drink barium yuck. I love it when the radiologist doing the scans starts saying well that's interesting but then tells you nothing my Dr is supposed to call me tomorrow with results. Five more days left of our school year then two work days and we start another one. I'm ready for some of these kids to go on to another school.

Lissa

Those tests are the worst! I'm sure everything will turn out just fine. Hugs!

Wish I could be there with you guys! But my deputy (hey! I have a DEPUTY!!!! :woohoo:) will be on paternity leave, so I'll be staying in Kampala.

But you know this would be an excellent adventuresome anniversary destination - oh, but don't go near any lakes or rivers lest you be splashed with parasite-infested water (that can cause paralysis), and don't drink any tap water or let anyone put an ice cube in a drink due to gross contamination, and make sure you take malaria proflaxis so that the mosquitos that will bite you don't give you the deadly disease, and don't lay on a damp towel in the sun because you might have worms dig into your skin, and if you feel something crawling on you, don't brush it off because it might be a blister beetle that can cause third-degree burns if it shoots its acid, and there's the tste fly and a poisonous caterpiller, and the mosquitos that don't carry malaria can also carry dengue, which there's not cure for, and...hey, I forgot something....hmmmm:confused3

Is there a storm out there now? I was so worried that we might have to deal with a hurricane. Sure glad we didn't.

Please keep the board running! You guys are all so great! I wish we could recreate the group again on another trip!:grouphug:

JoAnn #2,

Great to hear from you!!!!! So glad you arrived safely. Hey, you're living in a place we can pronounce!!!!! :lmao::lmao: Once you are settled, please tell Aaron to post pics. It helps us to visualize what it's like where you are. I hope the girls settle into school well. They will make friends soon enough, but I'm sure it will be tough at the beginning for all of you.

Hmmmmm, very interesting wildlife there. I think we're all booked up with vacations so we won't be visiting you soon (ever!:scared1:) :rotfl2::rotfl2: Honestly, I guess you may never get used to it, but will learn how to live with it. Keep us posted. We enjoy hearing from you.

Hey, everyone! Still kind of busy, but just thought I'd drop off a nostalgia photo to get you guys psyched to come back to visit me, again. :-)

Lessee... We'll go with this one:
