Hot. And packed. I was surprised at how packed the parks were this weekend. The water parks filled up more quickly than normal, and stayed packed all day long... A first from what I've seen. And Disney Quest was a nightmare. But I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that it's the last weekend before school starts in Florida, so I'm hoping that eases up again as soon as tomorrow, but possibly next week.

As for hurricanes, there's always a big question mark over Floridians heads on that subject. After the triple whammy five years ago (almost to the day) everyone's really skittish over them. Schools close as soon as there's a whisper of a hurricane (it was a debacle last year, with closings on days that were sunny and rain-free), and people panicking and buying out every food and water supply in the entire state.

Anyway, it's too early to tell at this point. I don't think there's much to worry about with the first two, which seem to be taking the same path across Cuba and out into the Gulf. The third is too far to be able to tell just yet. Really, they're ALL too far to be able to tell, but if I was to guess, they're going to be fine for visiting this week. :)

Sounds like snow days in PA....as soon as a snowflake is predicted, every loaf of bread and bottle of milk is bought off the shelves....I always blame it on the PA Dutch in this area....panic is the word. I must admit, I LOVE to go to the stores when a storm is predicted...I meet up with EVERYONE and get to chat for hours in the grocery store (does this suprise you at all?:scared1::lmao::lmao:) OMG, I can't believe I mentioned that word: s-n-o-w!:sad2::sad2::sad2::sad2:

But, the problem is if you're not worrying - we're worrying...

Wish I could be there with you guys! But my deputy (hey! I have a DEPUTY!!!! :woohoo:) will be on paternity leave, so I'll be staying in Kampala.

But you know this would be an excellent adventuresome anniversary destination - oh, but don't go near any lakes or rivers lest you be splashed with parasite-infested water (that can cause paralysis), and don't drink any tap water or let anyone put an ice cube in a drink due to gross contamination, and make sure you take malaria proflaxis so that the mosquitos that will bite you don't give you the deadly disease, and don't lay on a damp towel in the sun because you might have worms dig into your skin, and if you feel something crawling on you, don't brush it off because it might be a blister beetle that can cause third-degree burns if it shoots its acid, and there's the tste fly and a poisonous caterpiller, and the mosquitos that don't carry malaria can also carry dengue, which there's not cure for, and...hey, I forgot something....hmmmm:confused3

Is there a storm out there now? I was so worried that we might have to deal with a hurricane. Sure glad we didn't.

Please keep the board running! You guys are all so great! I wish we could recreate the group again on another trip!:grouphug:

Hey Joann, I'm so glad you make me look normal.........as I mentioned when we met, I'm the most BORING person EVER, compared to you and your family!:lmao:In light of the above post, I hope I never visit you (sorry!) but I am so iimpressed with your fortitude and preparations with your homes in Africa. You are amazing!! When you do visit the states again, many of us hope to meet up with you in one of the states you visit! Best wishes in school next week, we'll be thinking of the girls (esp. us teachers!):teacher:

I agree, I've been watching the Weather Channel feverishly! Best wishes down south and to everyone on the eastern coast next week!

The 7 day cruise that left on Sat. Aug. 15th will not be going to Tortola it was reported. They went to CC on Sunday. Instead of Tortola and St. Thomas, they are going to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. They may get another CC day on Friday. The captain reported that sailing on Thursday could get interesting.

I hope they keep posting. It is interesting. I hope they can find some sunny days and calm seas too.

What no toilet paper? :lmao: A few years ago someone came up for a lottery ticket a snow theme. Something like if you got the milk, bread, and TP symbols you won. I thought that was great marketing.

Hey, everyone! Still kind of busy, but just thought I'd drop off a nostalgia photo to get you guys psyched to come back to visit me, again. :-)

Lessee... We'll go with this one:

Bah! Hurricanes add spice to life. I always look forward to hurricane season. I'm a huge weather buff, so any bad weather is fun to me. :) Though, I will admit that I hate power outages. It's one thing I can't deal with very well while living in 100 degree temperatures. :)

Thanks! :)

Since you were so nice about it (unlike Lucy :rolleyes1 ), here's another I took this weekend at DTD. I've actually never noticed this before, so it was pretty nifty.

If you've never seen it, look really close then give me a guess where it's from. :)

I guess I can't complain too much with two evacuations in the 14 years we've lived on the gulf coast. I had this conversation with my cousin in Portland, I think I'd much rather live in hurricane territory at least we get advance warning to get out of Dodge. No warnings with earthquakes and tornadoes. Come to think of it, two snow "storms" in 14 years, too... :thumbsup2

In addition the staples including water, beer flies off the shelves during hurricane season...

Thanks! :)

I've never seen this one. Haven't a clue where it is.

One of our friends from the Med Cruise, Andrew (many of you know him -AndrewDerekUK) is on that cruise. Hope it all goes well. We were really lucky with our "Tropical Wave" near Tortola. The seas must be really rough in that area for them to reroute. It is probably rough on the Western too as one storm is set for the Panhandle. August and cruising :scared1:

Greg,
I don't recall seeing that pic of Figment. Where IS it from?

It's actually Ice Gator from Blizzard Beach, and the window is a display from Once Upon A Toy... Most of the display is made up of toy parts. :)
