Weird, I'm once again watching the weather channel (I would advise you NOT to!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: ) and thinking of you and everyone else, and I open the thread, and you posted. Keep in touch.....
cookies, did someone mention cookies?

don't worry about us! I wish I could post a picture from my phone. Facebook anyone? BP is command center is at the historic Menger hotel across from the Alamo. The hotel and Bp are taking very. Good care of us! The desserts and cookies are fabulous!

Facebook! Yes! I have a page! (would you like me to set yours up Lucy????)

I have always wanted to go to San Antonio, Monica. I am just so sorry it is under these conditions for you guys. I sincerely thinking about you. I sort of lost touch with the situation with Ike at the beginning of the week, but I cannot tell you how sad I am for all the people who are in the path of him.

And I hope Nick and Kristen are not in harm's way as well.....

Please stay in touch......:grouphug:

DH will be in Dallas in two weeks, but not me!:sad2:

I'm sure Virgil will chime in with more up to date information. But, I talked with Kristin this morning. She and Nick are staying with Nick's uncle (?) outside of San Antonio. They are doing fine, they were planning to go to one of the state parks and hike with the dogs.

Kristin and Nick are in San Antonio and doing fine. They are staying with Nick's uncle outside of San Antonio. Obviously worried about their house, but they understand that things are replaceable. Its just hard on them as this is their first house, and they've only lived there for 8 months. They are insured so things will be fine....

Continued prayers and PD for all those affected by Ike!

all my prayers....I can't seem to leave the TV and watch all reports from The Weather Channel.....believe us when we say, all of us on this thread are thinking of all of you:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Only update I have is the answering machine finally stopped working about 2am... Only watched coverage in snatches if I happened to be near a TV - the kids are sleeping in the room with the TV - so it's probably just as well.

The little bit I did see, I was frustrated - the dire warnings and then theanchors talk to people who are staying, publicize their home videos, etc. etc. After almost 100% leaving during Rita - it's scary to think only 40% left Galveston Island this time...

For those of you who are following the storm:

Some of the areas they were showing even though they are not far from our houses - Seabrook, Kemah (the boardwalk with the restaurants floods at least every other year) , and along NASA Rd 1 traditionally floods during storms and just hard rains - ok - this tops them all - but, it was expected and still a major concern. I'm sure it provided for some dramatic footage...

We are dry, safe, well fed, and everything else can be replaced...

I've said it before, and I will say it again........you attitude is amazing! You are an inspiration! Keep safe and keep us informed.

I am heading to Cincinnati this morning. M&M are staying with our babysitter's daughter. She now has her own apartment and can't wait for them to come over. Her roommate is a former student of mind whose father used to be Mark's boss. They have a pool there so the kids are excited.

John and I are heading to the mall, then to chill this evening with Mark. He is geared up for the Ohio St. vs. USC game and loves being in Ohio to watch it! Those people are nuts if you ask me!:lmao: Losing=end of the world to those people, but thankfully not Mark!

WVMD also keep us informed of Kristin and Nick. We really do care......we have a family going here folks! :grouphug:

Chip - long time no hear...........are you going to the Reds game next weekend? How about Oktoberfest? Give me a call if you come into town. We'll be at the Hyatt.

A friends husband stayed behind to ride out the storm. Our subdivision is ok. Their house only lost a few shingles. He'll check on ours

Hi all,

I just got off of the phone with Kristin. She had neighbors that weathered the storm in her neighborhood. Her house made it through ok. They have a large tree leaning on their garage, but no structural damage that can be seen. The most exciting news is that they still have power. She hopes to head back late Sunday or Monday once the roads are open.

I hope that John and Monica's house weathered the storm as well....

Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers!

Continued thoughts, prayers and PD for all those affected!

Thx for the updates.....have fun at the game, Jenny! Glad to hear things are pretty good in Texas!

Wendy,

How did your son and DIL fair in Spring, yesterday? I was thinking about them too!

Matthew and Leah are ok. They had some large trees down. One crushed his fence and the rest of the fence blew away. He has some roof damge. They have no power. But at least they're safe. It was hard getting in touch with him because they have spotty cell phone service.

I'm happy to hear your subdivision is ok. Do you have power there?

Gald to hear their house had no damage.

No, we don't have power either - our answering machine does not pick up. I've already warned John he's on the refrigerator/freezer clean up detail - I don't want to be anywhere in the house when he cleans them out!!!!

So happy for EVERYONE that this DARN storm is over!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

So, Monica, when do you venture back home?:confused3

I'm hearing weeks before people get electricity?:confused3

Let's stick together here, people.....as Jenny said before, we are 'family' - does anyone need anything?!!!! I don't have any extra roofs, but I have plenty of other things in this house that I'm willing to send on to Texas.
(NO, I promise, no extra children!).
I'm serious, gang, do you need anything?:confused3 :grouphug:

Oh, and Monica, don't worry about returning those DVD's right away - we'll take up a collection for the overdue fees......I'm not trying to joke here, this being a very serious matter, but we need some 'pick-me-ups' for our friends in Texas.:flower3:

updates are welcome anytime from everyone:hug:

Does this look like we need anything???

(I hope this works, I'm copying it from our other cruise thread - a fellow cruiser put it into photobucket off of my facebook page...)

School is off indefinitely. Since John is part of the Incident Management Team for BP - he's here longer than most until they get the plant up and running. They are talking about moving the command center closer to home, but widespread power outages they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Besides, with 3 buffet meals daily, 24 hr snacks, and maid service, I'm not in any hurry to leave! :lmao:

I appreciate all of the thoughts, prayers and pixie dust - being able to come and let off steam really helps! Even more so because John is working 12+hr shifts in the command center.

I might need a haz mat team to clean out the refrigerator and freezer before long! Although if the kids continuing acting like they did today - I may need to send them to any one of you!

Those pictures were GREAT - I feel so much better......
OH, and sending the kids to me, there are limits to how I want to help you!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

The refrigerator....funny you mention this - we bought a new one on Saturday, ours being about 20 years old....can you IMAGINE what I'm going to find in my fridge when I clean it out! (not as bad as your situation of course!)....but I think I'm going to find things growing under the drawers!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

OK, if school is off indefinitely, this isn't going to ruin "our" cruise, is it?!:scared1:

Indiana and Ohio today. However, we were fortunate compared to our Gulf Coast friends. We were at the Bengals/Titans NFL game and it was difficult to stand up when I went to the concession stand (yes, I was sober!). It totally blew us all over the interstate driving home. There was a semi totally on its side. Many towns were w/o power making a dinner stop almost impossible. But, finally we found a Taco Bell....:scared1: Greater Cincy area had 658,000 homes without power. That is amazing considering there was absolutely NO RAIN at that point...all wind.

Hey Monica...the Bengals are in Houston Oct. 26th, I wish we had made some plans to come there. We will be flying back from Vegas. We should have connected there.

Chip.....where ya at???? Are you going to Oktoberfest next weekend???

Jess had a little too much wind in Niagara this weekend, I guess it was Ike. Please, seriously, PM us as to what we can do to help, we would really like to help out our Texas DISfriends!:confused3
